  • Patent number: 5499820
Abstract: A device worn by a golf player around his following hand, wrist and lower forearm to aid in the proper hand placement for a proper golf swing. When worn, the device positions the following hand to promote a following club or racquet swing, yet allows the release of the following wrist. The golf swing trainer includes a rigid brace which has an inner side and an outer side and three straps attached to the outer surface of the rigid brace. The rigid brace is contoured so that a golfer's following hand is in the angle which is created when a golf club is swung with the club head following the turning body. The first and third straps are made of a non-resilient material and the second strap, which is in between the first strap and the third strap, is made of a resilient material.

  • Patent number: 5467981
Abstract: There is disclosed a football having an end appendage comprising at least one long, narrow strip of a flexible sheet material, e.g., cloth or flexible plastic, which functions as a tail when the ball is thrown or kicked and which provides directional stability for the football while in flight. When multiple strips are used which are formed of a rigidly flexible sheet such as MYLAR, the appendage also functions as a sound generator. When the football is thrown in a normal manner, the tail extends backwards, providing a slight drag to cause the back tip of the ball to align itself with the front tip, thereby resulting in the straight and accurate flight of the ball. The appendage can be fixedly or removably attached to the football, and for this purpose, can be attached with attachment tabs formed of hook and loop materials, commonly known as VELCRO.

  • Patent number: 5452902
Abstract: An action game whereby the players throw a ball at a plurality of disks so that one of the disks becomes attached to the ball. The ball and disks are covered with hook and loop material, wherein the disks will become attached to the ball when the ball comes into contact with a disk. A variety of games can be played with the game set of the present invention. For example, the disks can all be placed in an area of a playing surface. Each player throws the ball at the disks, trying to get a disk to stick to the ball. The ball is bounced off of the playing surface and caught by the opposing player. If a disk sticks to the ball, the opposing player must keep the disk. When all of the disks have been removed from the playing surface, the player with the least amount of disks wins the game.

  • Patent number: 5447312
Abstract: A golf swing training device for setting and maintaining proper arm position throughout a full golf swing teaches a proper golf swing by forcing a golfer to keep his or her arms in plane during the entire swing. The device includes a restraining wedge for maintaining a triangle between the forearms of the golfer when the wedge is held between the golfer's forearms. The restraining wedge is attached to the golfer's forearms by means of two forearm cuffs. Each forearm cuff can be placed on a forearm of the golfer without the assistance of another person. The forearm cuffs are then secured into the restraining wedge by, for example, a hook and loop fastener. The training device maintains the forearms in a skewed position which allows a full unrestricted golf swing.

  • Patent number: 5443266
Abstract: Sound producing tabs attached to a body strap and an arm band provide an audible signal as the sound tabs strike together during the execution of a proper down swing. The audible signal positively reinforces muscle memory that will enable the golfer to initiate the proper muscle action for a correctly executed down swing during regulation play while the training apparatus is not being used. The straps are designed to operate without restricting natural arm or body movement. The striking sound indicates to the golfer that his swing has followed the proper path on the down swing. The audible feedback signal enables the golfer to build muscle memory through proper practice with a natural, unrestricted swing as well as form a mental image to assist in the coordination of arm and body muscles so that the down swing will follow the proper inside path to the ball.

Abstract: A game of skill and strategy that can be played on almost any surfaces (grass, sand, water, cement, etc.), indoors as well as outdoors. This game shows some resemblance with "tic-tac-toe". The game comprises a reception frame divided into nine squares and four groups of disks, two for each player. The squares from targets to be hit with the disks. The first set of disks is made up of at least nine disks of the same diameter, density and thickness. The second set has only three disks of a larger diameter than those of the first group. The larger size of the disks of the second set makes them harder to lodge in the target squares. This is compensated by the fact that a larger disk can remove one of the opponent's disks and take possession of the square. First, the players take turns trying to toss the small disk into the squares. After this phase, they use the larger disks to try to dislodge the opposing player's disks and gain an advantage on him.

  • Patent number: 5301954
Abstract: An object throwing and catching apparatus having a strap with handles and bridging members to define an object receiving area around netting or solid material. Elastic strips are present in the bridging members to cause them to contract creating a cradle effect in the netting. Such a cradle enhances control of the object to be thrown and caught and enables the object to be easily catapulted via the snap action created by the cradle. For use with water balloons, bursting clips and netting knots may be provided on the apparatus to facilitate breakage of the water balloon. VELCRO fasteners may also be provided on the receiving surface of the apparatus as well as the ball to be caught to facilitate overall control.

  • Patent number: 5290043
Abstract: A game for improving soccer skills is provided which has a target preferably in the shape of a soccer goal. The target has a number of different sections which correspond to different point values based on the degree of difficulty in reaching the particular section The section boxes should be differentiated from one another in an easily identifiable manner, such as by color. Another element of game involves providing a mechanism for coordinating the different sections of the target to a particular section of the foot. This may be done, for example, by providing a shoe with different colored designations for various locations on the shoe. To play the game, one or more players take turns kicking a soccer ball from a set distance at the target. The player chooses which target section will be aimed for and takes notice of the color of the section. The player then kicks the ball with the portion of the shoe having the color which matches the chosen section.

  • Patent number: 5290040
Abstract: A new and improved apparatus for an object tossing game includes an object for tossing and a target assembly which includes a number of cylindrical cans and a base unit for supporting the cans. The tossed object can be a soft, lightweight, resilient ball. The base unit includes a floor and a semi-circular back board. Two cans are located relatively close to the back board and are assigned lower point values than one can that is located relatively far from the back board. A flexible, roll-up support surface is provided for supporting the target assembly. The support surface can include indicia which indicate a number of predetermined positions at which the target assembly can be placed, or at which a player can stand, on the support surface. The predetermined positions on the support surface are representative of different levels of difficulty for a player to successfully target a can in the target assembly.

  • Patent number: 5286028
Abstract: A golf swing training system consists of a line having first and second ends, and a line support connected to each end of the line. A first line support positions the line closely adjacent a supporting surface, such as the floor or the ground, and a second line support positions the opposite of the line above the supporting surface. A ball is slidably mounted to the line. A golf club includes a head having a vertical slot extending upwardly from the lower surface of the head. The ball is positioned on the portion of the line adjacent the supporting surface, and a user then swings the club toward the line such that the line is received within the slot formed in the golf club head, to strike the ball and to propel the ball along the line. A spring is mounted to the line adjacent the second line support, and the ball engages the spring as it approaches the second line support to propel the ball back along the line toward the user.

  • Patent number: 5261673
Abstract: An article with a polyfunctional front surface is adapted for use in the game of hit and catch with a projectile having an outer surface defined by a multitude of irregular filamentary formations for releasably engaging a mating surface. The article includes a handle and a head, the handle being adapted to be manually gripped, and the head being secured to the handle for movement therewith. The head defines a polyfunctional front surface having at least one first region and at least one second region. The first region is substantially rigid or non-flexible and adapted to cause a rapidly impinging projectile to rebound therefrom, and the second region is substantially flexible and defined by a multitude of irregular filamentary formations adapted to releasably engage the outer surface of an impinging projectile. Thus a projectile impinging on the head front surface will rebound when impinging on the first region and will become engaged when impinging on the second region.
