  • Patent number: 4986548
Abstract: A new type of projectile-target game is presented which involves a thrown projectile having a VELCRO pad on the outside and a ball tag uniform which is worn by a second participant. The ball tag uniform has front and rear sections which are secured to the front and back of a participant by tie down strips. The front and back sections have VELCRO hook targets on them. An optional lower back section also has a third VELCRO hook target attached to it. In playing the game, one person throws the ball at the targets located on the other participant. The other participant is "tagged" when the VELCRO pad ball sticks to the VELCRO hook target.

  • Patent number: 4971328
Abstract: A golf swing training device comprised of a grip, a foreshortened shaft and a hollow head. The head contains a battery activated by a switch also located within the head, to illuminate a lamp, also within the head. The lamp emits a beam of light downward to the ground and forward of the club head. The light beam permits the golfer to trace the arc of light corresponding to the golfer's swing to impart a mental image to the golfer of the precise club head path. The device also comprises a linear guide strip which is placed on the ground in front of the golfer to establish the desired club head path. The golfer preferably follows the path of the light beam during a swing and compares the light path to the guide strip.

Abstract: An elastic wristband includes a narrow strip or patch of VELCRO material secured to the inner surface thereof. When training a right-handed athlete in propering swinging of a baseball bat, the wristband is worn on the athlete's left wrist, with the VELCRO patch positioned over and pressed against the athlete's skin covering the "leading" end of his wrist bone. The VELCRO produces a stimulation of the skin, due to relatively sharp points of the VELCRO material, This directs the athlete's attention to the location of the sensation enabling him to concentrate on that point and "aim" it as he swings the bat, thus enabling him to avoid erroneous "rolling" of his wrist during the swing before contact between the bat and a baseball. The wristband is also useful in training an athlete to maintain proper orientation of his wrist during the sequence of motions required for throwing a baseball, swinging a golf club, and during throwing of a bowling ball.

  • Patent number: 4739993
Abstract: An electrically powered device for tossing and catching a ball includes a cup portion configured to receive the ball and having an internal push member which can be reciprocated within the cup portion. Both the push member and the ball preferably are coated with Velcro material to hold the ball to the push member, and a coil spring is provided between the push member and the bottom wall of the cup portion to urge the push member in an upward position adjacent the open end of the cup portion. A solenoid or other electrically-powered device is provided for retracting the push member within the cup portion to enable a user to catch the ball within the cup portion, and a latching bar is provided to hold the push member in its retracted position. Additionally, a switch is provided to withdraw the latching bar from its engagement with the push member after catching the ball so the ball can be forcibly ejected from the cup member by the action of the coil spring.

  • Patent number: 4736955
Abstract: A pitch and toss game apparatus comprising a first target (10) and a plurality of throwing objects (17). The first target (10) is constructed with a centrally located cylindrical cavity (11). The upper surface (10u) of the first target (10) has a layer of a first contact engaging material (12) attached to it. The throwing objects (17) are covered with a second contact engaging material (18), complementary to the material covering the upper surface (10u) of the first target (10). When the throwing object (17) is pitched or tossed towards the first target (10), the first contact engaging material (12) of the first target (10) and the second contact engaging material (18) of the throwing object (17) cause the throwing object (17) to firmly stick to the first target (10) at or near the point of initial contact should the throwing object (17) miss landing in the centrally located cylindrical opening (11).

  • Patent number: 4691924
Abstract: A golf training device having a first band surrounding the chest of the golfer and a second band surrounding the leading arm of the golfer. The first band has a loop pad on the outer surface adjacent each free end and a hook pad on the inner surface adjacent one free end which cooperates with one of the loop pads on the outer surface of the first band to hold the band in place on the golfer's chest. A flexible inelastic strap has one end attached to the outer surface of the first band and the other end attached to the second band. A hook pad is located on one end of the second band and cooperates with a loop pad on the outer surface of the first band to attach the end of the second band to the first band so that the second band surrounds the leading arm of the golfer to restrain the leading arm and to thereby control the golfer's swing.
