An inlet from a portion of the passage to the through-hole is arranged right above the rotary shaft, and an outlet from the through-hole to a portion of the passage is arranged right below the rotary shaft. The passage is connected to a suction pressure region outside the compressor and to the suction chamber via the through-hole.Type: GrantFiled: September 26, 2001Date of Patent: July 8, 2003Assignee: Kabushiki Kaisha Toyota JidoshokkiInventors: Naoya Yokomachi, Takeshi Yamada, Masakazu Murase, Toshiro Fujii, Tatsuya Koide

Patent number: 6504888Abstract: A reactor pressure vessel (RPV) for a nuclear reactor that permits measurement of the flow through each reactor internal pump (RIP) is described. The reactor pressure vessel also includes at least one reactor internal pump that includes an impeller and a pump diffuser. At least two seal rings extend circumferentially around an outer surface of the diffuser housing outer wall and are located in circumferential grooves in the housing outer wall. At least one lateral bore extends through the housing outer wall into a diffuser housing longitudinal flow passage. Each lateral bore is located in an area between two adjacent seal rings, with each inter-seal ring area containing one lateral bore. At least one pressure tap bore extends from the outer surface of the RPV bottom head petal, through the pump deck to an inner surface of a pump deck opening. Each pressure tap bore is aligned with an area in the RIP containing a corresponding lateral bore.Type: GrantFiled: October 17, 2000Date of Patent: January 7, 2003Assignee: General Electric CompanyInventors: Alex B. Patent number: 6446975Abstract: The invention concerns a seal device for a submersible machine, such as a pump or a mixer. The seal device is designed as an easily replaceable unit comprising two mechanical face seals (4,6) and (5,7) resp. with an intermediate room for a barrier liquid in which a pump for circulation of said liquid is arranged. A spring housing (10) which serves as a uniting means for the seal device is provided with connecting means for the rotary seal rings (4) and (5) resp. and acts as a hub for impeller vanes (16) in said circulation pump.Type: GrantFiled: February 9, 1999Date of Patent: September 10, 2002Assignee: ITT Manufacturing Enterprises, Inc.Inventor: Johan Bratthall

Patent number: 6305692Abstract: A seal device for a submersible machine, such as a pump or a mixer, the seal device being designed as an easily replaceable unit having two mechanical face seals parted by a room for a barrier liquid in which a pump impeller is located. The impeller circulates the barrier liquid passing the liquid along the seals and through cooling channels in the driving unit of the machine.Type: GrantFiled: February 4, 1999Date of Patent: October 23, 2001Assignee: ITT Manufacturing Enterprises, Inc.Inventor: Ulf Arbeus

Patent number: 5865441Abstract: The shaft seal assembly of cartridge designed for sealing shafts entering or exiting enclosed vessels. The enclosed vessels may have a pressure different from the atmospheric pressure and the seal will normally prevent leakage from or into the vessel. The seal is accomplished by having a plurality of fluid pressures presented to different faces or portions of the seals. Utilization of these pressures provides a seal between the faces of the rotating parts and the stationary parts of the seal with a minimum of friction. This reduced friction is a result of some amount of air movement between the sealing faces. This air movement into and out of the seal, resulting from fluid pressure differentials, will also carry away any contaminants that may get into the seal, either to the ambient atmosphere or to a recovery system. The seal is designed to accept axial and radial shaft displacement while maintaining a positive seal between the vessel and the atmosphere.Type: GrantFiled: February 19, 1997Date of Patent: February 2, 1999Inventor: David C.
