Arcuate Wall Patents (Class 277/455)
  • Patent number: 11754187
Abstract: Provided is a sealing ring and a sealing system. The sealing ring, in one aspect, includes a sealing ring member having an inside diameter face, an outside diameter face, a primary seal side face, and a gland side face. The sealing ring according to this aspect further includes a secondary seal coupled to at least one of the inside diameter face, the outside diameter face, the primary seal side face or the gland side face.

  • Patent number: 11530748
Abstract: The shape of a back-up ring is a V-shaped sectional shape. In the back-up ring, an annular concave surface part having a V-shaped sectional shape serving as a valley toward a high-pressure side is formed on a surface part on a side that faces a seal ring, and an annular convex surface part having a V-shaped sectional shape serving as a peak toward a low-pressure side is formed on a surface part opposite to the side that faces the seal ring. When a high pressure is applied from a high-pressure side, the back-up ring is deformed such that V-shaped angles of an annular concave surface part and an annular convex surface part are increased as the annular concave surface part is pressed against the seal ring, and is brought into close contact with a housing and a shaft.

  • Patent number: 11136936
Abstract: A piston for an internal combustion engine may include a piston axis and a radial plane extending orthogonally thereto. The piston may further include a piston head having an outer circumferential face including at least one ring groove configured to receive a piston ring. The at least one ring groove may be arranged sloped to an outside in a radial direction. The at least one ring groove may be oriented at an angle ? between 0.5°???2° obliquely with respect to the radial plane. The piston may also include at least one piston ring having a rectangular-like cross section with a plurality of rounded corner regions and an oblique outer flank. The oblique outer flank may differ from an inner flank of the at least one piston ring disposed opposite the oblique outer flank by an angle ? between 2°<??5°.

  • Patent number: 8794396
Abstract: A caliper comprising: a piston bore and a seal groove located in the piston bore proximate to an open end of the piston bore, the seal groove comprising: a front wall; a rear wall; a bottom wall spanning between and connecting the front wall to the rear wall; a projection in a central region of the bottom wall suitable for allowing twisting of a seal during a brake retract and/or brake release; wherein the rear wall diverges away from the front wall as the rear wall extends away from the bottom wall and towards the bore surface.

  • Patent number: 6712362
Abstract: In a master/slave cylinder system for clutches or brakes, primary seals have bevels which interact with similar bevels of formations on housings of the respective cylinders. Along with the lowest possible friction in the region of the sealing lips, this permits carrying out uncomplicated pressure/negative-pressure filling in the case of the master cylinder. The primary seals slide by the wedge of effects in the direction of the pressure on the bevels of the annular formations and reduce the annular bearing face of the sealing lip in a frictionally optimized manner.

  • Patent number: 6682078
Abstract: A ring groove for a two-piece oil ring of a piston is provided that has ring body equipped with a coil expander, wherein the ring body has an upper outer surface and a lower outer surface, both orthogonal to the axial direction of the piston. The ring groove also has an upper inner surface and a lower inner surface, both orthogonal to the axial direction of the piston; a radially inward-most, bottom surface connecting the upper and lower inner surfaces; and oil drain holes, each having an opening thereof located on the bottom surface. The ring groove has an axial width slightly greater than the width of the two-piece oil ring.
