Adjustable Loading Feature Patents (Class 277/470)
  • Patent number: 8353272
Abstract: The present invention relates to a fuel injection system for the direct injection of fuel into a combustion chamber of an internal combustion engine. At least one fuel injection valve is arranged on a cylinder head in a receiving bore in order to inject fuel into the combustion chamber. A fuel distribution line is provided for feeding the fuel to the fuel injection valve. A compensation element for a position compensation and/or tolerance compensation, is arranged in the radial direction between the fuel injection valve and the cylinder head and is arranged in the axial direction of the fuel injection valve between a first sealing element, sealing between the fuel injection valve and the cylinder head on a side facing the combustion chamber of the fuel injection valve, and a second sealing element, sealing between the fuel injection valve and the fuel distribution line.

  • Patent number: 7815193
Abstract: The invention relates to a dry-running piston rod sealing arrangement (1) for sealing a piston rod (2) mounted in a longitudinally displaceable manner. The sealing arrangement comprises at least one sealing ring (5) having a sealing surface (5a), an actuator (7), a sensor (8), and a chamber ring (3) containing the sealing ring (5). The actuator (7) comprises an active connection in relation to the sealing ring (5), such that the sealing surface (5a) can be radially displaced in relation to the piston rod (2). The actuator (7) can be controlled according to a measuring value detected by the sensor (8).

  • Patent number: 7461583
Abstract: A piston assembly is described including a connecting rod and a piston head secured to the connecting rod and in operational communication with the connecting rod. The piston head has a circumferential groove extending inwardly from an exterior surface of the piston head. The piston head further has a compression mechanism aperture disposed proximate the groove. An oil ring expander is disposed generally within the groove. The expander includes a gap between a first expander end and a second expander end. The gap is proximate the compression mechanism aperture. At least one lever arm is in mechanical communication with the connecting rod. The at least one lever arm has a tab disposed between the first expander end and the second expander end.

  • Patent number: 6484622
Abstract: A variable oil ring compression mechanism provides for real-time cyclic variation of piston ring tension in an operating internal combustion engine. A cam is situated in the gap of a piston oil control ring, the cam affixed to a shaft secured to a pivot plate positioned within the body of the piston, wherein the pivot plate is adapted to oscillate in a follower-style rocking motion responsive to the rotary movement of a connecting rod boss positioned in close proximity with the plate. In a preferred form, the cam is situated between ends of an expander ring positioned between oil scrapper rails in the bottom groove of the piston.

  • Patent number: 6428010
Abstract: A sealing strip is provided for sealing a space between two parts of a machine, for example, a rotary engine. The two parts form a groove for receiving the sealing strip. The sealing strip includes a filler piece, at least one spring element, at least one sealing body and a separating element. The filler piece is divided into two filler piece parts along the longitudinal direction. The filler piece parts are capable of independent longitudinal displacement with respect to one another. A spring element is arranged between the filler piece parts for preloading the filler piece into the groove. Each sealing body is formed in a frame-like shape for surrounding an end of the filler piece. The separating element is arranged between the filler piece parts for separating the filler piece parts and extends longitudinally from an end of the divided filler piece to at least a point where a sealing body surrounds the divided filler piece.
