Disposed In Socket Or About Pin Patents (Class 277/483)
  • Patent number: 11873906
Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for a cantilever beam arrangement that preloads ring segments in a multi0segment piston ring arrangement. A piston assembly comprises a piston that comprises a land. A ring segment is arranged against the land. The ring segment comprises a radially inner surface, a radially outer surface for sealing against a bore, and a boss located on the radially inner surface. The piston assembly also includes a beam spring having a proximal end attached to the piston and a distal end in contact with the boss. The beam spring forces at least a portion of the ring segment radially outward by applying a force on the boss.

  • Patent number: 11767915
Abstract: The present disclosure provides a sealing ring assembly having a ring and one or more gap cover elements, configured to seal a high-pressure region from a lower pressure region of a piston and cylinder device. The ring may be segmented, and the gap cover elements may engage with interfaces between the ring segments. The gap cover elements are configured to move radially outward and wear as the ring wears. The gap cover elements may include, for example, wedge-shaped features that engage with corresponding wedge recesses in the interfaces. The sealing ring assembly may include a high-pressure boundary and a low-pressure boundary. As the sealing ring wears, the gap cover elements stay engaged with the interfaces, so that ring gaps do not form on the low pressure boundary.

  • Patent number: 10012094
Abstract: The invention relates to a carrier ring for a high-pressure gas turbine of a gas turbine plant, which has a high-pressure combustion chamber upstream of the high-pressure gas turbine, a compressor upstream of the high-pressure combustion chamber, a low-pressure combustion chamber downstream of the high-pressure gas turbine, a low-pressure gas turbine downstream of the low-pressure combustion chamber, and a rotor that carries rotor blades for the compressor, for the high-pressure gas turbine, and for the low-pressure gas turbine. The carrier ring carries guide blades and/or heat shields of the high-pressure gas turbine and can be fastened to the high-pressure combustion chamber. The installation of the carrier ring can be simplified by segmenting the carrier ring at least in the area of the guide blades thereof and/or of the heat shields thereof in the circumferential direction, wherein the segmented carrier ring has at least two ring segments that carry the guide blades and/or the heat shields.
