Both Radial Sides Of The Single Seal (e.g., X-shaped, Y-shaped, Etc.) Patents (Class 277/566)
  • Patent number: 5908249
Abstract: A bearing assembly includes an inner ring and outer ring defining opposed raceways having a plurality of bearing elements disposed therebetween. The bearing assembly includes an improved sealing arrangement having multiple primary seals for providing sealing with the rotating inner ring. In preferred embodiments, the multiple seals include a rolled riding seal and an oblique contact seal having a center lip therebetween. Unlike the other two primary sealing lips, the center lip preferably provides no more than light engagement with the bearing inner ring.

  • Patent number: 5897119
Abstract: A floating wiper seal assembly for sealingly engaging a reciprocating shaft within a hydraulic pump or cylinder housing. The seal assembly includes a generally cylindrical elastomeric seal body configured for reception within a cylindrical bore of the housing. An axial bore extends through the seal body for receiving the reciprocating shaft. A pair of opposed flexible annular lips extend radially inwardly from an interior surface of the axial bore for wiping and sealingly engaging the reciprocating shaft, and at least two flexible annular rings extend radially outwardly from the seal body for sealingly engaging an interior surface of the cylindrical bore. The elastomeric seal body is dimensioned and configured to float freely within the cylindrical bore in both a radial and axial direction upon flexure of the annular lips and annular sealing rings in response to reciprocating movement of the shaft while maintaining sealing engagement with the shaft and the pump or cylinder housing, respectively.

  • Patent number: 5895053
Abstract: A seal that is particularly suitable for use in a gas spring and other high pressure hydraulic and pneumatic sealing applications and that minimizes the leakage of relatively high pressure gas and lubricating oil from the rod end of the gas spring or other applications. The generally annular seal body includes a number of convex sealing lobes on its radially inwardly and outwardly facing surfaces. All of the sealing lobes have a predetermined radius and project radially beyond the plane of their respective surfaces. The axial facing surfaces of the seal body are generally flat or non-concave. The seal also includes a wiper insert secured in a recess in one corner of the radially inwardly facing surface of the seal body. When the seal body is compressed between the relatively movable, annularly spaced piston rod and cylinder, the compression induced stress in the seal causes the seal body and insert to form an effective gas and oil seal.
