  • Patent number: 11754185
Abstract: A metal O-ring is provided. The metal O-ring has a sidewall with an outer surface and an inner surface. The outer surface of the sidewall is machined to selectively thinning the thickness of the sidewall, such that the sidewall of the of the metal O-ring has a plurality of thicknesses equal to or less than a maximum thickness and equal to or more than a minimum thickness. Selectively thinning the sidewall by machining the outer surface allows for control of the elasticity of the metal O-ring. Controlling the elasticity of the metal O-ring, and potentially increasing the spring back, may provide for increased contract pressure at a sealing interface, which would facilitate sealing. The machined outer surface of the metal O-ring are generally machined to flat surfaces.

  • Patent number: 11274565
Abstract: A bladed assembly for a turbine of a turbomachine comprises an outer platform comprising, at an axial end, a transverse end surface and a sealing device protruding from the transverse end surface and comprising at least two sealing ribs (102) extending transversely to an axis of the bladed assembly and each having two respective sides which, in an axial cross-section, are radially and axially inclined in the same direction with respect to the axis. The radial direction of the inclination of the sides of the sealing ribs, in an axial cross-section, is the same for at least two of the sealing ribs. This particularity confers flexibility on each of the sealing ribs, which allows to favour a surface contact between the sealing ribs and a radial stator wall facing which the transverse end surface, and in particular the sealing device, are intended to be arranged.

Preferably, the terminal insertion bore has a membrane, which includes a substantially curved groove and a substantially curved lamella. Preferably, the terminal insertion bore has a membrane which includes a lamella, the lamella being oriented in a direction coincident with a diagonal line of a rectangular cross-section of a terminal so that corners of the terminal hit opposite ends of the lamella.

Abstract: A sealing mechanism for a drop cable splice enclosure includes a base having an entry hole for receiving a drop cable inserted through a compression grommet assembly, from outside the enclosure. The cable can be prepared for splicing, outside the enclosure. The grommet assembly (and the optionally prepared cable) are inserted into the entry hole, from outside the enclosure. The assembly includes upper and lower pressure plates, a compressible grommet between them, and an adjustment mechanism to apply a compression force to the grommet. The grommet assembly is rotatable to lock it in a keyed section in the entry hole. The adjustment mechanism is then tightened, from outside the enclosure, to compress the grommet between the pressure plates, which seals the grommet in the enclosure base, at the same time sealing the cable in the passageway through the grommet.

  • Publication number: 20130062836
Abstract: When a sealing member held in a cavity of a housing is pressed by a cap toward the bottom of the cavity, the side surface of the sealing member is inclined to laterally expand. As a result, in the opening-side portion of the sealing member, the side surface is strongly pressed on the wall surface of the cavity, causing a strong friction force at the contact surface, which prevents the pressing force applied from the opening side from being transmitted to the bottom side. Therefore, at the beginning of the pressing operation, the internal stress of the sealing member is higher in the opening-side portion than in the bottom-side portion. With the lapse of time from the beginning of the pressing operation, the opening-side portion of the sealing member under the higher internal stress gradually moves toward the bottom side against the friction force.

Abstract: Expandable seals have one or more conforming ribs to facilitate creation of a seal to a sealing surface disposed in the well. The conforming ribs comprise a core of material either capped, partially covered by, or entirely covered by a ring. The ring can be formed of a metal that is softer than the metallic core material of each rib. Suitable metals forming the rings include copper formed by metal spun methods. Disposed adjacent to the rings are one or more sealing elements. By moving the rings into the sealing surface during expansion of the expandable seals, the rings close the extrusion gaps between the internal surface of the casing and the expanded tubular member ribs. The rings better conform to the sealing surface of the casing, thereby facilitating the creation of the seal between this sealing surface and each of the sealing elements.

The sealing element has inner and outer metal deformable surfaces joined at ends, defining an interior volume which is entirely filled with a plastic deformable material. The surfaces are arranged such that on compression of the element from the ends, the element will deform in a controlled manner on a cantilever principle. The volume of filler and the interior volume remain substantially equal during compression so that delamination does not occur. Thus the sealing element provides a seal combining the flexibility of elastomer seals with the integrity of a metal to metal seal.
