Abstract: A spiral-bound stand-up book has pages printed with one set of textual materials on one side, and a second independent set of textual materials on the other so as to allow two persons looking at the book from opposite sides to simultaneously read two independent sets of textual materials.

Abstract: A holding rail is useful with a storage file having stiff cover sides and an upright clip holding presentation pages. The rail may be used to hold the storage file in a presentation position or to hold the presentation pages contained in the file in a clamped-down position. The rail is also useful for linear measurement. The holding rail is substantially flat with a plurality of upwardly bent legs. At least one upwardly bent leg is located at opposing end portions of the rail. The storage file may be held in a presentation position by placing the edge of each of the stiff cover sides into one of the upwardly bent legs of the rail. The rail thereby supports the storage file with the upright clips racing outwardly and the presentation pages in the presentation position. A plurality of tapered slots or other perforations are formed within the rail. The tapered slots may engage the upright clip, thereby holding the presentation pages of the storage file in a clamped-down position.

Abstract: A selected number of pages are arranged in book-like fashion and bound together so that the book may be disposed either with the pages flat on a support or in easel-like disposition. A first side of one of the pages is disposed in proximity to a second side of an adjacent page when the book-like arrangement is in a closed condition. The first side of each page carries an illustration or picture of a portion of a story with each successive first side carrying another illustration or picture of another portion of the story, so that the first sides taken as a set illustrate substantially the entire story. The second sides of each page carries a copy of the illustration or picture on the adjacent first page and also carries textual material for the story correlated to the illustrations.

Abstract: The present invention includes a binder adapted to be configured to stand at an angle on a surface. In most basic terms the binder comprises: (a) a spine member adapted to be attached to pages; and (b) a binder cover having front and rear portions, and moveable between a closed position to an open position, the binder attached to the spine member, and the front and rear portions each having a flex line so as to define respective upper and lower portions of the front and rear portions and so as to allow the lower portions of the front and rear portions to be moveable between a position relatively near the spine member to a position relatively further from the spine member, so as to allow the binder to be configured to stand at an angle on the surface.

Abstract: A combination desktop calendar and picture frame which allows a user to insert his or her picture or photo of choice into the front cover of the calendar. A plurality of calendar pages are held inside the front cover. The calendar pages are somewhat wider than the front cover so that a portion of the calendar page is visible to one side of the front cover. The visible portion has a compact calendar printed on it which can be highlighted by marking important dates or by placing self stick clear or transparent, tinted shapes over important dates, each shape corresponding to a different type of event such as birthdays, anniversaries or the like. The internal construction of the calendar is such that the calendar pages may be flipped so that the current month or week is at the front most location after opening the front cover. An easel or magnetic backing is included for holding the unit in a substantially upright position on a desktop or countertop or attached to a refrigerator, file cabinet, wall, etc.

Abstract: A portable container and display stand particularly useful for music educational purposes comprising a plurality of hingedly connected panels made from a single sheet of rigid, lightweight material having a plurality of transverse fold lines. One of the panels is fixed in a folded position and attached to the base panel. Light weight borders form an enclosed container area when the various panels are folded, thereby providing a relatively small, lightweight and portable container for transporting and storing papers or other written materials, such as books, magazines or sheet music. Unfolding the various panels to place the device in a display stand mode is a simple process involving easy manipulation of the top two panels. When unfolded, the device forms a display stand for displaying written material in an easily viewable position.

Abstract: An apparatus for delivering categorized information includes a information storage device designed to retain detailed information divided into categories, including a mechanism for accessing the information by category, and a information indexing assembly including a display structure having several display members and having holding structures for the display members connected to the display structure so that the display members are simultaneously displayed. Each display member has a display face with one of the information categories marked on the display face. At least one of the display members functions to direct an observer to one given information category within the information storage device and functions to remain in the possession of an observer as a reminder of the given information category and of the information retrieved about the given information category. The display member is preferably a business card.

Abstract: A photo album includes rigid front and rear cover pages, a plurality of picture holding sheets sandwiched between the front and rear cover pages, and a binder for hinging together connecting edge portions of the front and rear cover pages and the picture holding sheets. At least one male fastener is secured on an outer surface of one of the front and rear cover pages adjacent to the connecting edge portion, while at least one female fastener is secured on an outer surface of the other one of the front and rear cover pages adjacent to the connecting edge portion for engaging releasably a corresponding male fastener when the front cover page is turned so as to be disposed adjacent to the rear cover page.

Abstract: A foldable cover is made of recyclable polypropylene. The cover has an outer movable plate, a positioning plate and an inner movable plate. The outer movable plate extends from one side of the positioning plate. The inner movable plate extends from the other side of the positioning plate. A crease line which is disposed at the outer edge of the inner movable plate defines a foldable outer end edge. A plurality of transparent envelopes are positioned by the positioning plate. Two reinforced ribs which are made of steel wire are imbeded in two longer side edge portions of the foldable cover. The reinforced ribs are enwrapped by soft plastic cloth with woven designs. The foldable outer end edge is turned upward to fasten the outer end edge of the outer movable plate. The inner movable plate becomes a bottom plate. The outer movable plate and the positioning plate are inclined.

Abstract: A loose-leaf picture album comprises a bottom plate having an upper end to which a plurality of blank pages are fastened at the top end thereof in such a manner that the blank pages can be easily removed or replaced, An arcuate cross rod is provided at the portion where the blank pages are fastened to the bottom plate. The bottom plate comprises a front piece and a rear piece, which are joined together by two connection pieces such that the front and the rear pieces can be folded and unfolded. Each of the blank pages is provided with the transparent protective membranes forming at both sides of the blank page an entry slot and an exit slot to facilitate the mounting and the removing of a picture. The loose-leaf picture album can be displayed uprightly on a desk top or fastened to a wall by hooks.

Abstract: The improved notebook and notebook cover assembly of the present invention includes a notebook, preferably of a loose-leaf type, and a sub-assembly which includes front and rear notebook covers, an edge binder interconnecting the two covers and foldable back upon itself, and a notebook connector releasably interconnecting the notebook only to the covers. Due to the edge binder the covers are movable between a first position wherein the front cover overlies and protects the notebook and a second position wherein the front cover is behind and flat against the rear cover, thus fully exposing the notebook and supporting it in a flat position for easy viewing and writing therein. The edge binder can have a longitudinal fold line along the length of the center line of the central portion thereof, or can be divided along that center line into two halves joined together by a hinge, such as a piano hinge or a flexible strip of plastic, cloth, paper or rubber.

Abstract: A discount coupon organizer for storing and displaying discount coupons redeemable at grocery stores including a breakback notebook having a back and two (2) sides and configured when in an open condition to fit within the child's seat of a grocery shopping cart. A multi-ring structure is mounted to the notebook and a plurality of plastic sheets are supported on the ring structure. Each of the plastic sheets is provided on both sides with a plurality of clear plastic pockets for receiving and viewing discount coupons. The binder sides and back are divided into upper and lower portions which are at least partially foldable upon each other. The ring structure is secured only to the upper portion of the back and a strap is connected to a lower portion of the ring structure and to the lower portion of the binder to limit the movement between the upper and lower portions of the binder and thus to provide structure for enabling the binder to be self-supporting on a level surface.

Abstract: A ring-based sheet retainer can be removably attached to a blackboard or a presentation board. At least two sheet retainers are attached to a support member that is an elongate planar member equipped with mechanical fasteners designed to engage a complementary structure on a presentation board or the like. Each sheet retainer comprises an ring and a ring closure. The ring has the form of flattened oval: straight midportions connected by semicircular end portions. There is a gap in the midportion of the ring whereby sheets are inserted into the ring. The ring closure is a straight hollow cylinder sized to slide over the straight midportion of a gaped side of the ring. The closure is attached to the support member with an end overhanging the edge of the support member so as to receive punched sheets when the ring is open. Sliding the ring into the closure opens the ring by revealing the gap at the overhanging end of the closure.

Abstract: A combination binder/book rest having front and rear covers (10, 12) pivotally connected along opposed edges of a spine (14). A support element (52) is pivotally connected to the front cover to support the front cover at a selected angle of inclination. A page retention mechanism (86, 88; 98, 100; 106, 108) rotatably connected to the spine bears against pages of a book (110) supported by the inclined front cover. An adjusting mechanism (56, 74, 76) is provided for adjusting the cover's angle of inclination. When not functioning as a book rest, the device may be configured in a storage position in which it functions as a conventional three-ring loose-leaf binder. The binder's contents (27) may be easily removed for reference while the device is functioning as a book rest. The book rest aspect of the device provides improved support by utilizing one of the binder's covers to support the open book. The page retention mechanism may be adjusted to accommodate books of many sizes.

Abstract: A notebook having an internal easel stand. The notebook can be a looseleaf notebook. The notebook can be converted to an easel stand holding the sheets of paper in an upright position. The notebook has a flat easel panel attached to a portion of the inside surface of the notebook cover. When the notebook cover to which the easel panel is attached is flexed along a bendline running across the cover, the easel panel juts into the interior of the notebook. The easel panel is held in place in an upright position by a gripping device attached to inside surface of the cover.

Abstract: A combination loose-leaf ring binder and foldable bookstand is quickly erectable and develops increasing stability with increasingly heavier loads under the designed gravity lock principle. Quick closure is effected upon removal of the load. In combination, a juxtaposed pair becomes a larger display stand. Four alternative erected configurations serve as a drawing board, a flip chart easel a lectern and as a copyholder for typing, all at their various appropriate angles. Other embodiments of the bookstand feature extra compact folding and integration with a book cover.

Abstract: A portable receptacle for documents and the like having opposed cover members each being pivotally engaged along confronting sides to an intervening spine. A ring binder is provided on the normally inner face of one cover proximate the spine. Wall-forming members are integral with the other cover member and projecting from the inner face thereof proximate opposed ends and the spine-remote side thereof for abutting the corresponding edge portions of the one cover member when the receptacle is in closed condition whereby the same is of general box-like character. A pair of support members are carried on said other cover member and being pivotally connected to spaced-apart locations on the wall-forming members at the opposite end edges of the other cover member for developing parallel pivot axes extending lengthwise of the support members. Each of said members having a side edge-forming angle of less than 90.degree.

Abstract: Looseleaf notebooks, presentation devices and similar stationery items incorporating a binder mechanism attached to the side of the rear cover. Three slots are present along the side of the front cover positioned so as to fit into the ring binder mechanism to lock the notebook and secure all contents. The ring binder itself may contain a stiff paper or plastic insert for providing additional support for use as a presentation device. Such insert may includes three projections along the bottom manufactured to fit into the front cover slots to convert the notebook into an easel stand. The stiff insert additionally may function as the third side during vertical positioning of the notebook thereby allowing for a stable free standing presentation device.

Abstract: A book cover which can be adapted to fit a wide range of sizes of books comprises a cover material adapted to be placed over the front and rear covers and the binding of the book to protect the book. Connectors are provided at two opposite ends of the cover material for connecting opposing sides of the cover material to one another to form sleeve-like configurations with the cover material adjacent the opposite ends which respectively receive the front and rear covers of the book in telescoping relationship. The portion of the cover material intermediate the opposite ends which are telescoped over the book covers is folded back and extends over the front and rear book covers and the book binding. A plurality of strips of material encircle each of the book covers to secure the portion of the cover material which is folded back and extends over the front and rear covers of the book to the adjacent covers.

Abstract: In a folder of the type used for carrying sheets of material and being adaptable for displaying the sheets, there is provided a folder having a pair of panels joining together and being foldable at a center of the folder. Each panel has a pocket portion for storing the sheets of material and a foldable ledge means for displaying the sheets when the folder is in an open position. The folder is also provided with bands for supporting the folder on the hand of a user and means for displaying the folder in an open position on substantially flat surfaces.

Abstract: A combination book box/book rest which can be formed from a one-piece foldable blank is disclosed. The foldable blank may be made of cardboard or plastic and comprises a flat, rectangular central section with two lateral flaps hinged to the opposite sides thereof. Upper and lower flaps are hinged respectively to the upper and lower ends of the central section. The lateral edges of the upper and lower flaps releasably engage in grooves in the lateral flaps to form a book box. The end portions of the upper and lower flaps are also releasably engagable with each other to convert the blank into an inclined book rest support.

Abstract: A portable lectern comprising means for releasably a plurality of sheet members of paper or the like retaining and a base member configured and dimensioned for standing in a stable manner on a relatively flat surface. The base member comprises a generally planar section and means for supporting the sheet member retaining means in a predetermined position for viewing the sheet members to facilitate reading or lecturing therefrom. The supporting means are located on at least one side of one edge of the generally planar section. The base member is configured and dimensioned to be selectively removably combinable with the sheet member retaining means to facilitate portability of same for transport, storage, or the like.

Abstract: A book binder which has a cover, convertible to an easel having primary utility for instruction purposes. The book binder is characterized by a combined folding characteristic in the cover together with vertebrate page retainer and anchor hinge therefore. The anchor hinge is offset from the spine of the book and defines an extension strut to limit the angular relation of top and bottom segments of the cover.

Abstract: An easel binder includes hingedly interconnected front cover, back cover and spine panels; and page-mounting means are secured to the inside of one of the two cover panels. A transversely extending fold line extends across the front, rear and central panels to permit an upper portion of the front and rear panels to be folded back into an easel providing position. A rigid frame containing a plurality of split ring mechanisms is provided in combination with a relatively flexible backing strip which is located behind the rigid frame. A portion of the backing strip above the transversely extending fold line is secured to said rigid frame alone, while a portion of the backing strip below the transversely extending fold line is secured to both the rigid frame and to the central panel.

Abstract: A directory holder adaptable for mounting in various places comprising a bed and a cover of rigid sheet material such as acrylic hingeably attached to each other at side flanges, top flange on cover, bottom flanges on bed and cover which overlap when closed forming a case, upper and lower pivoting retaining clips, and a security means to prevent easy removal of directory, referred to as basic directory holder and useful as a portable directory. An adaptation for mounting the basic directory holder on a wall comprises a wall board with mounting tabs and a pencil tray, the top edge of the basic directory holder hingedly attached to upper portion of the wall board, and a positioning brace pivotally attached to bed. The brace is adapted to be moved between first and second positions so that the basic directory holder at two distinctive positions relative to the wall board.

Abstract: A book support consists of a book supporting plate and a back plate hinged to the top of the front plate and extending outwardly and downwardly when extended, to form an inverted V when viewed in side elevation. A cord is secured by each end thereof to the sides of the front plate and extend through guide apertures at the sides of the back plate to be hooked over one of several projections on the back plate to adjust the angle between the plates. A pair of slide members extend one from each side of the front plate to adjust to the width of the book and a further cord is detachably secured by one end thereof to one of said slides, passes across the open book and detachably hooks onto the other of said slides to hold the pages relatively flat. This cord is disengaged from the other slide when a page is to be turned and rehooked afterwards to hold the pages open and relatively flat. The holder can be folded relatively flat for storage, without removing the book from the holder.

Abstract: This invention relates to an artists' portfolio, for the purpose of retaining and transporting sheet material such as prints or photographs, in a manner affording protection during carriage but enabling the contents to be displayed individually when required. The portfolio has two covers 1 and 2 joined at 3 which may be brought into juxtaposition and secured by a slide fastener 5 and flap 6 having a catch 7. The cover 1 includes a spine 10 joined with a support board 12 which may be positioned to engage lugs 13 so as to form an "easel" structure. Transparent folders are secured to the spine 10 by rings 15. In this construction both sides of the transparent folders may be displayed by either lying on support 12 or cover 1. Further the folders depend from the rings when in a normal position of carriage ensuring the contents are always flat in a suspended state.

Abstract: A loose leaf ring binder has a support for holding up the inner edges of the loose leaf sheets on that side of the rings on which it would be difficult to write. The support is a flat relatively rigid sheet that is swingably connected at its inner or outer edge to one of the binder covers, so that the inclination of the support can be adjusted. Means are provided for maintaining the selected inclination of the support, in the form of a series of teeth on the adjacent outer cover with means on the support selectively engaging with the teeth to adjust the position of the support so as to bring the inner edge of the supported loose leaf substantially level with the rings. The cover can be quite narrow, in the form of a flexible strap secured at one end to the spine of the binder and coacting with the support at its other end.
