Abstract: A pouch label assembly having an overlaminate sheet cleanly removable from an expanded content device to prevent destruction of the device. The pouch includes a self-adhesive base layer, a plastic overlaminate sheet disposed over the base layer to form a pouch, and an expanded content device disposed in the pouch. The expanded content device is anchored to the overlaminate sheet with an emulsion acrylic adhesive. Use of this adhesive provides clean, non-deforming removal of the expanded content device from the overlaminate sheet, and consequently the pouch. Perforations or grasping tabs may be included on the overlaminate sheet adjacent the perimeters of the expanded content device to facilitate removal of the device from the pouch.

Abstract: A security document, banknote, bond, travellers check, passport or token, including a substrate (1), said substrate having a device including a first macro-embossing (2, 3) of the substrate having a predetermined feature, and a second micro-embossing of smaller dimensions formed in or on said predetermined feature of said embossing. The first embossing being formed to hide and reveal said second embossing at predetermined viewing angles &agr;, &bgr;. The macro-embossing may comprise lines having a height of about 20 microns and a spacing of 80 microns, and the micro-embossing in the form of lines or dots (4) to a height of about 2 to 5 microns. The lines have a predetermined height (H) and a predetermined spacing (S) such that the ratio S:H is typically from about 6:1 to 2:1.

Abstract: A carbonless form is provided that may be folded selectively into a duplicating state or a non-duplicating state. In accordance with one embodiment of the present invention, a carbonless form is provided comprising a form sheet, a transverse fold line, an assigned data entry portion, and an exposed data entry portion. The form sheet defines a front face, a rear face, a top edge, a bottom edge, and a pair of side edges. The transverse fold line extends across the form sheet to define a first panel and a second panel on opposite sides of the transverse fold line. The assigned data entry portion is defined on the rear face of the second panel. The exposed data entry portion is defined on the front face of the first panel. A CB coating is applied to the rear face of the form sheet in the first panel and a CF coating is applied to the rear face of the form sheet in the second panel.

Abstract: A reinforcement device to be incorporated to punched folder sheets which increases paper resistance around the punched areas of the folder sheet and reduces their deterioration. In one embodiment, a reinforcement strip is added during the manufacturing process so as to reinforce the area of the punched hole. The reinforcement strip may be added before or after punching the holes, and may be a continuous or non-continuous strip. The reinforcement device may be used with a variety of paper sizes or weights, and may be made of a variety of materials, for example, polyurefin, PVC film or polyamide.

Abstract: Adhesive labels are manufactured by cutting windows in an upper layer of a support web (2) through to a lower silicon coated material. Folded leaflets (15) are then adhered by lines of adhesive (11, 12, 13) to the support web (2) and the combination is die-cut to form individual adhesive labels with part of the die-cut folded leaflet extending beyond an edge of a base label formed from the window in the support web. This method of manufacture permits more complex label structures to be constructed without pre-cutting individual base labels.

Abstract: A unitary label adapted for affixation to an object such as a product container. The label includes a first portion which is affixable to an object to be labeled and a second portion contiguous with the first portion. The label is wrapped about the target object and the combined length of the label is greater than the circumference of the object whereby the second portion functions as a resealable and/or removable flap which offers additional available print areas on both its top and bottom surfaces. A method for making the unitary label is also disclosed.

Abstract: An encoded binder strip having an adhesive matrix and an encoded pattern formed on a surface of the matrix to identify the type of binder strip. The encoded pattern includes relatively high reflectivity regions and relatively low reflectivity regions. Preferably, the encoded pattern is read as the binder strip is fed into a binding machine, with the encoded pattern controlling operation of the machine.

The bottom portion defines a bottom surface, an internal lateral flank, and a top bottom surface. Before use, the pouch label is supported by a release-coated liner to which a transparent base layer having an adhesive bottom surface is removably adhered. A transparent over-laminate with an adhesive bottom surface is adhered to the base layer to secure the pouch to the base layer. The pouch label can be removed from the release liner so as to attach the sample to the display item.

An item or items, such as a keepsake, can be inserted into the first and/or second pocket. Individual sheets of embossed paper are fed onto a conveyor system, and the feed and conveyor speeds are regulated so that the sheets are in slightly overlapping relationship to form an artificial web as the sheets pass continuously through release coating and adhesive coating subassemblies which continuously apply release and adhesive coatings to opposite sides of the web. The booklet is folded and glued closed with the free edges secured interiorly. An adhesive is printed onto the unvarnished region of the label and the folded booklet is adhered to the unvarnished region. The booklet has a tab portion to facilitate opening of the book during use. The tab portion faces the identifying portion of the label which extends longitudinally outwardly from the unvarnished region. Abstract: An assembly for mailing an article requiring delivery by a special service and a method and system for imaging the same are provided. The assembly includes a generic mailing label having a back side adhesively and detachably affixed to a backing sheet. The label may be imaged with all of the information necessary to serve as one of many types of special service mailing labels. Removal of the label from the associated backing sheet allows the label to be permanently affixed to a mailpiece. Upon delivery of the mailpiece, a return receipt postcard portion of the label may be removed and forwarded to the sender of the mailpiece as a return receipt. A method and system for the automatic imaging of such mailing label are also provided wherein the sender of the mailpiece may obtain a special service mailing label from a vending-type machine upon providing all of the required information for the desired special mailing service.

Abstract: A system for folding a sheet of material is provided. Creases are formed in the sheet representing fold lines for the sheet. A plurality of first indicia markings are provided on the sheet with each first marking being positioned so as to align with a respective one of a plurality of second indicia markings when the sheet is correctly folded along the crease lines. In an embodiment, the sheet size is a multiple of 2 inches by 3.5 inches to allow the sheet to be folded into a business card size which will readily fit into a pocket, purse or a wallet. In an embodiment, the sheet is folded so as to have a final folded size of no greater than 20 square inches. To permit an easy and full viewing of any particular segment of information printed on the sheet, the sheet is folded by a plurality of lateral and longitudinal folds to provide a plurality of panels bounded by fold lines. Discrete segments of information are printed on the panels.

Abstract: A wallet size pocketed booklet which has been adapted to hold a card having the dimensions of a conventional credit card, and is particularly designed to be carried in the credit card compartment of a wallet or similar size compartment holder. The use of a resin emulsion adhesive, a vinyl acetate ethylene copolymer emulsion, in the pocketed booklet makes it possible to create a properly formed pocket closed on three sides for holding and protecting the card.

The assembly includes a single sheet constructed in such a way that one portion of the sheet provides a label and the other portion provides a return postcard or other special service form for attachment to an envelope in its assembled position. The return postcard is integrally formed and removably attached such that the return postcard remains attached to the envelope until received by the addressee, at which time the return postcard may be removed.
