The method further includes generating a grayscale image from the image of produce. The method further includes cropping out a portion from the grayscale image. The method further includes locating a marking position pixel on the image of produce by: (a) producing a list of pixels that are part of the cropped portion, (b) selecting, from the list of pixels, a subset of pixels having grayscale pixel values above a threshold, and (c) randomly selecting the marking position pixel from the subset of pixels. The method further includes overlaying the image of marking on the image of produce by coinciding a pixel of the image of marking with the marker position pixel.

Abstract: RFID-integrated packages are disclosed combining a container, an article positioned within the container, and a packing material positioned within the container between at least a portion of the article and an inner surface of the container. The packing material is manufactured by at least partially associating it with an RFID device. The packing material may be formed of a recyclable material, such as paper. The packing material together with the RFID device is processed to provide it with an impact-absorbing configuration. Processing methods may include folding, crushing, and cutting or slitting, with the RFID device continuing to perform well after it and the packing material have been processed into the impact-absorbing configuration for use within the container. The entire RFID device may be associated to the packing material or only a portion or component of RFID device may be associated to the packing material, with another portion or component associated to the container or article.

The concealment device features a translucent colored material having a color that corresponds to a first color of printed matter that is configured inside or behind the concealment device so as to be positioned adjacent to and beneath the colored material. The printed matter is concealed when viewed through the colored material from outside the concealment device. The concealment device can be an envelope, a magazine, or a booklet. The concealment system includes the concealment device and a printed item that is coverable by the concealment device. The printed item includes printed matter having a first color that corresponds to a color of the colored material. The printed matter is not visible when viewed through the colored material from outside the concealment device.

Abstract: This invention relates to a label arrangement for consumer destined food packages. A food package (10, 50) comprises at least an undertray (20) and a lidstock (40) arranged together defining in between a cavity for a food product (30). The label arrangement according to the invention comprises a printable face material (110) and a pressure sensitive adhesive (120) for attachment of the label (100) onto the package (10, 50). The adhesive surface of the pressure sensitive adhesive (120) layer is arranged to have one or more adhesion free (550) and printed zones and the label (100) is further arranged with one or more weakenings (700) through the label face material (110) allowing to manually fold the part of the label with adhesion free (550) and printed zone for visual inspection of said printing while the label (100) otherwise remains attached to the package (10, 50).

Abstract: Disclosed is a tamper proof tag and accompanying method for verifying that a watch is authentic and has not been tampered with. The tamper proof tag, when affixed to the watch, ensures that the watch is authentic and prevents a user from tampering with the watch. The tamper proof tag also allows the watch to be worn while the tamper proof tag is affixed to watch and is minimally obstructive to the aesthetics of the watch. This provides a purchasing user with confidence that the watch is authentic, while also allowing the user to try on the watch without having to remove the tamper proof tag. The tamper proof tag also protects the seller from a user that may attempt to tamper with the watch after purchase. For example, the seller may condition returns for a sold watch on the tamper proof tag remaining affixed to the watch.

Abstract: In accordance with one aspect, the present disclosure is directed to methods, systems and machine readable media including computer programs to track information for an article of manufacture. An illustrative method includes providing a blank tag for the article of manufacture, and forming a marked tag from the blank tag by forming at least one character on the blank tag using a light source, such as a laser. The at least one character can be encoded with information relating to the article of manufacture.

The drape includes an adhesive layer for sealing the drape to the tissue site to create a sealed space having the manifold therein, and a non-adhesive layer formed from a portion of the adhesive layer. A method for manufacturing a medical drape includes providing a sheet of adhesive material and treating a side of the sheet of adhesive material to form a non-adhesive layer and an adhesive layer. The method laminates a release liner adjacent the adhesive layer.

Abstract: Systems and films for protecting surfaces of various substrates, including electronic devices, such as portable electronic devices, include a liner with a strip liner and a main liner. The strip liner, which covers a small strip of adhesive on the back side of a protective film, is configured to be removed before the main liner. With the small strip of adhesive exposed, the protective film may be aligned with a substrate and, if necessary, removed from the substrates and repositioned thereon. Thereafter, the main liner may be removed to enable complete application of the protective film to the substrate. Methods for securing protective films to substrates are also disclosed.

Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure include methods, apparatus, and systems for deactivating an AM tag including receiving a deactivation signal via a first inductive coil, storing electrical charges generated from the deactivation signal in a capacitor, and discharging the electrical charges through a second inductive coil, wherein: a first bias strip in the demagnetized state and a second bias strip cause a resonator to vibrate at a first resonant frequency corresponding to an activated state of the AM tag, the discharging magnetizes the first bias strip from a demagnetized state to a magnetized state, and the first bias strip in the magnetized state and the second bias strip cause the resonator to vibrate at a second resonant frequency different than the first resonant frequency, wherein the resonator vibrating at the second resonant frequency corresponds to a deactivated state of the AM tag.

Abstract: A greeting card stored-value card combinations and methods of forming said combinations are provided. In one embodiment, these combinations include a greeting card comprising means for affixing a stored-value card thereto. These combinations also include a stored-value card affixed to the greeting card. A single identifier, such as a Stock-Keeping Unit (SKU) or a Universal Product Code (UPC), is assigned to the bundle that uniquely identifies the bundled greeting card and stored-value card. The single identifier provides identification means allowing the stored-value card to be activated. A single capture of the single identifier enables the customer to both purchase the greeting card stored-value card combination product as well as to activate the store-value card.

The wall hanging device intrinsically locates connection points along a wall that correspond with connection points along an article to be hung on the wall. The systemic device provides two opposing surfaces, each surface providing corresponding guide markings. Each surface also has adhesive elements so that the device can first be adhered to the article and then transferred to the wall by way of urging the article against the wall, thereby ensuring that one or more preselected connection points along the article, first associated with one surface's guide marking(s), are intrinsically located on the wall by way of the other surface's corresponding guide markings after pulling away the article, leaving the temporarily adhered device to the wall. The device also provides a foldable pocket for capturing debris resulting from the installation of the mounting fasteners.

The game symbols in the first game play area that are visible to a player through the one or more windows in the folded state of the substrate determine an outcome of the second game.

Abstract: A self-laminating rotating cable marker label is constructed of a transparent film having a first adhesive area, an adhesive-free smooth area, and a second adhesive area. A print-on area forms one side of the transparent film, the print-on area adapted to receive indicia identifying the cable about which the marker label is applied. A perforation extends across the transparent film providing a line of separation of the transparent film. When wrapped around a cable, the second adhesive area overlies the print-on area such that the cable identifying indicia is visible through the transparent second adhesive area. As the transparent film is wrapped around the cable, the first adhesive area adheres to the cable. The remainder of the transparent film is rotated, breaking the perforation, whereby the smooth area of the film in contact with the cable provides smooth rotation of the label around the cable.

The RFID system may include a transponder conveyance system adapted to transport at least one targeted transponder from a group of multiple adjacent transponders through a transponder encoding area along a feeding direction and an antenna having a resonant inductor and a ferrite material, wherein the ferrite material at least partially covers the resonant inductor and defines an exposed portion of the resonant inductor. In one antenna-transponder alignment, the exposed portion extends substantially parallel to the feeding direction.

Abstract: A self-laminating rotating cable marker label is constructed of a transparent film having a first adhesive area, an adhesive-free smooth area, and a second adhesive area. A print-on area forms one side of the transparent film, the print-on area adapted to receive indicia identifying the cable about which the marker label is applied. A perforation extends across the transparent film providing a line of separation of the transparent film. When wrapped around a cable, the second adhesive area overlies the print-on area such that the cable identifying indicia is visible through the transparent second adhesive area. As the transparent film is wrapped around the cable, the first adhesive area adheres to the cable. The remainder of the transparent film is rotated, breaking the perforation, whereby the smooth area of the film in contact with the cable provides smooth rotation of the label around the cable.

Abstract: An integral greeting card/game is disclosed wherein a multi-panel greeting card also serves as a game board and is combined with a game piece and launch mechanism to create a novel, interactive greeting card. The multi-panel greeting card contains a sound module therein and a magnetic trigger is contained and concealed below one or more of the multiple greeting card panels. The game piece contains a magnet therein so that when the game piece comes into contact with the area of the greeting card above or proximate to the magnetic trigger, playback of an audio file is initiated. In one embodiment, the game piece is operative to interact with a touch screen of a mobile device.

Abstract: Systems and methods provide for a document fraud detection system for identifying fraudulent documents. The document fraud detection system can include up to three steps of fraud detection, where if the document fails any of the three steps, the document can be flagged for further review. In another embodiment, the document fraud detection system can score each of the three tests, where the scores represent the likelihood that the document is fraudulent. If the combined score satisfies a predetermined criterion, the document can be flagged as potentially fraudulent. The three tests can include analyzing an scanned image of the document and comparing to other similar documents to determine if there have been any alterations. The second test can compare indents to previous documents, and the third test can analyze chemical and biometric factors that may indicate whether the document has been altered.

Abstract: The present invention is directed to containers and packaging that incorporate novel tamper evident features that make prominent the evidence of tamper. In particular, the novel tamper prominent containers of the present invention comprise newly designed tamper prominent images, i.e., prominent continuity control (PCC) images. Additionally, the present invention provides novel methods of increasing prominence of the evidence of tamper with a container, e.g., of consumer goods, by incorporating prominent continuity control (PCC) images integrated with a button locking assembly that must be removed to open a locked container making prominent the evidence of tamper through clear visualization in the PCC image, e.g., prominently displaying an image of a broken lock after full fracture and removal of the button locking assembly.

More specifically, embodiments are directed to a metallic-finished promotional item with a laser-engraved message that is illuminated or backlit by incorporating a light source into the promotional item. The light source acts to illuminate or brighten the laser-engraved message when the light source is powered on. Furthermore, according to embodiments, when the light source is not in use, the laser-engraved message remains appealing, hereinafter referred to “daylight appeal”, due to its enhanced contrast with the surrounding metallic finish.

For example, the invention includes a wristband with a face stock supporting indicia which are applied on (such as through thermal transfer printing) or through (such as through direct thermal printing) an antimicrobial layer. The antimicrobial layer is preferably a coating or varnish that is applied as the outermost layer and can bind with thermal transfer printing ink or supports pass through of direct thermal printing on a chemically receptive sublayer. Abstract: When coating a document surface (3) having relief-like information (1) carrying personal data, for example, with a monomer-containing liquid UV adhesive (4) across the entire surface and then laminating thereon a volume hologram (2), the varying adhesive thicknesses between the volume hologram and the document surface resulting from the relief cause differentiated swelling and thereby a differentiated color shift of the hologram. After the desired color shift is achieved, the UV adhesive (4) is completely cured. In this way, individual holographic information is obtained, which is located exactly above the relief-like information of the document. With this method, holographic overlays comprising personal data and a passport picture can be produced, and it is possible to link defined optical document information to the hologram in an accurately positioned manner, so that information is visible both non-diffractively and, from a different viewing angle, holographically in a different color.

The tamper evident structure includes a first ink layer applied to the base layer and a second ink layer applied to the first ink layer. The first ink layer and the second ink layer are held together in a weaker bond than a bond between the top layer and the base layer. When the label flap is initially pulled from the package, the first ink layer and the second ink layer separate and define a visible permanent de-lamination which signifies the package has been opened.

In use, an intelligent label is attached to a product, and the intelligent label has a timer as well as one or more sensors for monitoring environmental conditions. Upon exceeding timing or environmental rules, a visual alarm indicator is activated on the label. Since the label has electronically retrievable data, electronically scanable data, and human readable date, the network process can collected key data regarding the product along the entire distribution chain.

Abstract: An apparatus and method for distributing samples is provided. The distribution apparatus and method includes a sample package made up of a sample product to be distributed and a sample backing, which is attached to a sample carrier. This sample distribution method has many unique advantages, including promoting a sample product that consumers can actually, see, feel, touch, taste and smell.

Abstract: A security foil includes two or more carrier substrates which have at least one optically active structure and at least two metal layers. The security foil is composed as follows: a) a first carrier substrate, b) a first radiation-curable lacquer layer into which an optically active structure is incorporated, c) a first metal layer, d) a protective lacquer layer, e) an adhesive layer, f) a second carrier substrate, g) a second radiation-curable lacquer layer, h) a second metal layer, i) optionally a protective lacquer layer, and k) optionally an adhesive coating. The adhesion between the layers g) and h) or f) and g) is significantly lower than the adhesion between the remaining layers.
