Telescopic With Relative Motion Patents (Class 285/302)
  • Patent number: 3958819
Abstract: An adjustable drop or riser nipple for sprinkler systems and the like, characterized by few, simple parts and comprising short, telescoping inner and outer lengths of pipe having interposed between them a locking or drive ring which acts against an expansible, resilient sealing ring so as to lock the pipes in any of different adjusted axial positions as well as to seal the same to each other. The locking ring is part of an exposed nut threaded into the projecting end of the outer pipe. The outer pipe intermediate its ends has fixedly attached in it an abutment ring which engages one end of the resilient sealing ring in the pipe.

  • Patent number: 3938218
Abstract: A telescoping cleaning tool adapted to remove debris and the like from a poorly accessible surface. The tool includes telescoping inner and outer tubes wherein one end of one of the tubes is adapted to receive air under pressure, as from an air nozzle, and the opposite end of the other tube is provided with a sharpened edge for scraping debris and the like from a surface. An orifice is provided adjacent the sharpened edge for directing the air under pressure against such debris. The one tube is preferably provided with a handle near its air-receiving end so that an operator may grasp the handle with the fingers and press the air-receiving end into an air nozzle held in the palm of the hand, thereby permitting the tool to be used with one hand only.

  • Patent number: 3936080
Abstract: A pipeline expansion joint having a smooth bore, for use with pipelines into which flow slurries containing solids in suspension, comprises a first sleeve open at both ends and having a tapered portion formed in the inner wall of one of its ends extending at a small angle with the axis of the first sleeve and over a substantial portion of the length of the first sleeve from its inside diameter to substantially its outside diameter, and a second sleeve also open at both ends and having a first portion of substantially the same inner diameter as the outer diameter of the first sleeve and telescopically mounted on the above-mentioned one end of the first sleeve, a second portion of the same diameter as the first sleeve, and an intermediate portion expanded at a small angle with the axis of the second sleeve over a substantial portion of its length from the second to the first portion of such second sleeve.
