  • Patent number: 8882156
Abstract: A tube coupling to receive and hold a tube (T) includes a coupling body (10) having a throughway with an annular step (24) facing an open end (12). An annular seal (25) is located in the coupling body adjacent to the annular step. An end cap (13) engages the coupling body and is axially moveable. A collett (17) in the cap has legs (20) with outer surfaces that engage with a tapered surface (23) in the end cap to urge the legs inwardly to grip the tube. The seal (25) is compressed axially in response to the forward movement of the end cap (13) to cause the tube end to be pressed into sealing engagement with the seal end. A biasing member (28) provides a biasing force to urge the legs (20) axially onto the tapered surface (23) when the cap is in the retracted position.

Abstract: Coupling holding means 50 comprising retainers 53 and retainer engaging portions 52 for holding a coupled state is provided between a socket S10 and a plug P10 of a coupler. Engaging pawl portions 54 are formed on the inner sides of a pair of retainers 53 provided on both sides of a nozzle portion 32. By causing the retainers 53 to move outwardly in a coupling operation, a gap between the retainers 53 and the nozzle portion 32 can be made small. By forming interference preventing portions 58 in the engaging pawl portions 54, the retainers 53 can be provided at a smaller interval than the outer diameter of the nozzle portion 32 whereby the coupler can be made even more compact. Further, by forming the retainers 53 higher than the foremost end portion of the nozzle portion 32, the nozzle portion 32 can be protected by the retainers 53 even in an unexpected event such as falling and damage will not extend directly to the nozzle portion 32.

The connectors include an eccentric mounted roller mechanism disposed within a slot in a main body and that is in continuous engagement with front and back walls of the slot. The eccentric mounted roller mechanism is used to actuate connection collets when the eccentric mounted roller mechanism is rotated. Since the eccentric mounted roller mechanism is in substantially continuous contact with the front and back walls, this ensures a smooth actuation of the main body and the connection collets without any lost motion.

A head of the locking member is provided with at least one lug defining a first surface oriented towards the end and adapted to receive in sliding contact a corresponding surface of a first component. A sliding plane (P1) between these surfaces is inclined at an angle of between approximately 75° and 105° with respect to the oblique axis of translation of the member. The head has two lugs arranged on either side of a rod or stem that extends between the end and the head.

  • Patent number: 8109539
Abstract: An adjustable or variable joining device (such as a fitting or connector) used to connect a duct (such as pipe or tubing) having a range of shapes, sizes and thread styles to an object (such as equipment, a container, or another length of pipe or tubing). In various embodiments, the device may generally comprise a sealing member, a support assembly, and a support plate. The sealing member is adapted to seal the duct to the device by elastically expanding to fit around the exterior surface of the duct. The support plate, which is placed adjacent to the interior surface of the sealing member, protects the sealing member and prevents it from collapsing under thrust loads. The support assembly is positioned on the outside of the sealing member and assists in operatively holding the sealing member in place. The device may also comprise a casing member, which encloses the above members.

Abstract: A leadscrew has first and second housing portions—which slide telescopically together. A shaft having an externally threaded portion screws into a complimentary internal threaded portion in the first housing portion, the shaft extending out of the second housing portion at a point where a fluid tight seal is provided_between the shaft and the other of the housings and allows rotation during a screwing action. The second housing includes a flanged end to which a ROV drive bucket is bolted. The shaft has a squared end so that it can be rotated relative to the bucket by the ROV. O-rings provide fluid tight seals between the two housing portions, between the flanged end and bucket, and between the shaft and bucket. A deep sea version incorporating oil bath the pressure of which is equalised to that of the surrounding sea so that O-rings do not have to withstand large pressure differences.

  • Patent number: 7832773
Abstract: An invention generally relates to an adjustable connector that acts as a coupling device to connect an object (such as pipe or tubing) having a range of diameters and thread styles to an item (such as a piece of equipment or another length of pipe or tubing). The device is generally comprised of a casing member and an internal member, which is further comprised of tab members positioned in tab openings in a core member. Preferably, a semi-flexible sheath covers the internal member and seals it to the casing member and the object, so that a chamber is formed between the internal member and the casing member. Mechanical compression members may be placed in the chamber.
