Plier Type Patents (Class 29/221)
  • Patent number: 7926156
Abstract: Valve keeper pliers that facilitate the installation of the two-part valve keepers in an internal combustion engine, the pliers comprising jaws and handles with a pivot point therebetween, at least two grasping pins per keeper projecting outwardly from a shoulder stop at a terminal end of each jaw, the pins adapted to abut an outer surface of a keeper, and at least one magnet substantially flush with each shoulder stop for engaging an end of a keeper, the magnet adapted to releasably retain a keeper in contact with its grasping pins while minimizing the magnetic attraction between the pins and the engine, whereby each keeper is retained in contact with its magnets and pins without requiring grip pressure to retain it in place allowing easier insertion of the keeper, particularly in cases where the keeper has more than one retention groove. The jaws are preferably offset from a plane created by the handles to facilitate reaching into the locations where the valve keepers must be installed.

  • Patent number: 7420169
Abstract: Electrostatic printing processes utilize corona-charging units. When those units wear out or become faulty, they need to be replaced. This embodiment provides a tool that can be used to remove a faulty electrode wire assembly from the unit. This same tool when loaded with a new wire assembly can insert a new wire assembly into the emptied corona charging unit, sometimes referred to as a dicorotron unit. The tool, therefore, is used both to remove or insert a wire assembly from or into a dicorotron unit.

  • Patent number: 5349732
Abstract: The invention is a tool for removing and installing valve springs in an overhead valve engine of the type having a stud adjacent the valve spring. In detail, the tool is a locking type pliers having a first jaw with an aperture therethrough for engaging the stud and a second jaw for engaging the valve spring, the second jaw having an opening therein sufficient to allow the valve retainer to pass therethrough. Thus that when the tool is installed with the first jaw positioned with the stud extending through the aperture and the second jaw positioned over the valve spring, the pliers can be actuated to a locked position causing the second jaw to compress the spring with the first jaw reacting the force applied to compress the valve. spring. Upon compression of the spring the valve retainer is freed from the valve spring retaining cap and can be easily removed.

  • Patent number: 5158000
Abstract: This disclosure relates to a method for slicing a cylindrical elastic body, for example, a slab or broad belt prior to being cut into belts or rings of a certain width, by a two-shaft system, and its apparatus. The apparatus includes a) a drive shaft, of which the top end thereof can be released from its support, of which the root end thereof is connected to its drive unit, the drive shaft having a radially projecting part at the root end; b) a freely rotatable shaft extending in parallel with and at a constant distance from the drive shaft in a horizontal plane, of which the top end can be released from it support and can be tilted in vertical direction, and c) a cutting unit which has a cutter positioned perpendicular to the axial direction of the drive shaft, and which can move towards the drive shaft and can travel in the axial direction of the drive shaft.

  • Patent number: 5083351
Abstract: By means of a bracket located above the turntable the twisting of the textile article threaded through this bracket can be scanned and measured by a feeler means. Upon the twisting the bracket will rotate by a certain angle. If a preset angle of rotation is exceeded, the feeler sends a control signal to the control apparatus. This control apparatus controls the relationship circumferential speed feeding cylinders to rotational speed turntable. By means of such controlling an extremely fine regulating can be made, which may be necessary, for instance, due to the slip between the tubular textile article and the feeding cylinders. The upper edge of the textile article being cut is scanned by means of at least one scanner. The location of the scanning is preferably between the final feeding cylinder (seen in direction of movement of the textile article) and the cutting tools of the cutting apparatus.

  • Patent number: 4907323
Abstract: A method and apparatus is provided for producing a woven biased fabric in which the structural fibers are skewed from the fabric centerline. The method and apparatus are particularly designed for producing a woven biased structural fabric in which the structural fibers are oriented about 45.degree. to the fabric centerline, where the flimsy, open-knit nature of the fabric makes handling extremely difficult. Broadly speaking, the apparatus includes a fabric feeding station, slitting station, and winding station. The feeding station holds a roll of conventional structural fabric (parallel and perpendicular structural fibers) woven in a tube configuration and flattened into the roll form. The feeding station rotates the roll in a vertical plane as the fabric unwinds in a horizontal direction. The slitting station includes a cutter and a pair of slatter rolls, the rolls moving the tube of fabric in the horizontal direction while rotating the tube of fabric.

  • Patent number: 4658484
Abstract: A knit tape manufacturing device comprising a framework, a driver supported on the framework, a feeding and guiding mechanism composed of a plurality of feeding means which, arranged peripherally, are rotatorily driven on the framework about a longitudinal axis by the driver through a power transmission mechanism and fed under guidance along a longitudinal direction a circular knitted fabric stretched externally therearound, an operating mechanism which operates the feeding means by the driver, and a cutting means for cutting spirally the rotating circular knitted fabric into a tape of width corresponding to the specific feed length which is located adjacent to the forward end of the feeding and guiding mechanism.
