  • Patent number: 7628835
Abstract: In a fastening portion for fastening an upper retaining portion and a lower retaining portion by means of a mounting screw, the upper retaining portion has a screw hole and a cylindrical guide formed around and above the screw hole. Further, a projection is formed on the inner wall of the cylindrical guide at an upper portion thereof. In a loosened condition of the mounting screw where it is disengaged from a screw hole, the head portion of the mounting screw is caught to be retained by the projection. The upper portion of the cylindrical guide is tapered so that it has an inner diameter smaller than the diameter of the head portion of the mounting screw. Accordingly, even when the upper retaining portion is turned upside down in the loosened condition of the mounting screw, the mounting screw does not fall down from the upper retaining portion.

  • Patent number: 6321432
Abstract: A tool for removal of an automotive engine valve from a cylinder head, the valve including a valve stem, valve spring, and keepers locking the spring in engagement with the valve stem. The tool compresses the valve spring to remove the keepers from the valve stem to thereby permit removal of said valve. The tool includes a working head and a shaft/handle extending up from it. The working head includes axially aligned bottom and top members separated by spacer posts. The bottom member includes an annular ring with a center aperture and an upstanding cylindrical sidewall, and magnets on the annular ring within the sidewall. The shaft/handle are connected to the top member and extend upward from the working head in axial alignment with it. Axial movement of the working head along the valve stem and against the valve spring compresses the spring to release the keepers from the valve stem for attachment to the magnets.

  • Patent number: 6223426
Abstract: Devices for introducing valve keys in internal-combustion-engine valves have heretofore required complex locking and actuating devices in order to bring the valve keys into a fitting position. In order to reduce the introducing procedure, a guide body has a recess which runs symmetrically with respect to its central axis. A conveying channel is formed by a pin passing through the recess in its longitudinal direction, by wall regions of the recess and by guide beads which are attached in such a way that they can pivot and are extended parallel to the pin in their basic position. The guide bead is bent inwards in the direction of the pin with such a radius and a distance between the bent region and the pin as well as the valve stem is set in such a manner, that bulges of the fed-in valve key engage into annular grooves of the valve stem at the end of the conveying channel.

  • Patent number: 5375308
Abstract: A valve spring compressor apparatus for removing and installing valve springs on automotive racing engines includes a valve seat and a compressor pump assembly. The valve seat is placed between the valve spring and the engine housing. The compressor engages the valve spring seat with a support arm and extends a piston toward the valve spring seat, thus compressing the valve spring and allowing for the removal of the retainer ring and keeper lock. The compressor uses a source of compressed air to drive a power piston into a compression chamber multiplying the supply air pressure several times. This multiplied air pressure is retained in the extension piston chamber by a one-way valve. As the extension piston extends, the multiplied air pressure in the extension piston is maintained by repeated cycling of the compressor.
