Abstract: The present invention is a scalpel blade removal device comprising an opening in a wall defining a first blade guide, extending to a narrowing upward ramp bounded by left and right guide walls. A horizontal top ramp extends from the distal end of the upward ramp, bounded by left and right guide towers. A spring loaded notch device is adapted to lock behind a proximal end of a scalpel blade seated on a scalpel, where the scalpel is inserted in the opening and the blade edge is driven up the ramp to the top ramp. When the notch device is locked behind that end of the scalpel blade, the scalpel is pulled back, causing the scalpel blade to slide off the scalpel handle. A sharps container incorporates the removal device, a reinforced latch, a scalpel resting location, and needle cover removers.

  • Patent number: 6298539
Abstract: The breakdown services have many task involving the unlocking of automobile doors. The problem is normally solved by pressing a wedge-shaped element down between the door window and the rubber sealing strip which abuts against the window, whereby access can be gained for the insertion of an unlocking tool without having to remove the sealing stip. However, the downwards insertion of the wedge-shaped element can give rise to damage to the sealing strip. This is avoided with the process according to the invention, in that instead of the wedge, use is made of a flat, inflatable pillow element of flexible, distensible material. The flat pillow element is easy to insert downwards, and by a subsequent inflation it will press directly outwards on the sealing list without at the same time scraping against the list.

  • Patent number: 6296035
Abstract: Apparatus is disclosed for removing a coating from synthetic resin products, such as an automobile bumper, to obtain improved coating removal rate and improved productivity. A resin material having a coating applied thereto is rolled between a resin-side roll and a coating-side roll which rotate at different peripheral speeds. A shear stress is applied to the interface between the resin material and the coating, thereby removing the coating from the resin material. Pressing means press the coating-side roll towards the resin-side roll with a predetermined force. The resin-side roll and the coating-side roll apply a normally fixed shear stress between the resin material and the coating, ensuring stable coating removal and improved productivity.

  • Patent number: 6283113
Abstract: A tool is provided herein for separating stacked strips of semiconductor structures held by a magazine, which strips have become attached together. The tool is made up of first and second elongated members in side-by-side relation, each member defining a plurality of teeth along an edge thereof. The first and second members are mounted together so as to allow relative reciprocal movement therebetween, so that relative reciprocal movement between the pluralities of teeth is provided. The tool is held with the teeth against the edges of strips carried by the magazine, and the operator squeezes and releases member handles to provide relative reciprocal movement of the teeth. This back-and-forth reciprocal movement causes the teeth to rub against and force apart the strips, to in turn separate them.

Abstract: Apparatus for aiding in the disassembly of a mechanical assembly, such as an injector head having a plurality of interconnected, stacked plates. The apparatus includes a stationary base with side walls between which the plates are received to maintain registration of the latter during disassembly. A carriage slideably mounted on the base includes a clamp for clamping the head on the base and means for securing a portion of the head on the carriage such that the head portion moves along with the carriage. Through holes in the side walls allow certain of the plates to be secured to the side walls against movement of the carriage such that upward movement of the carriage separates the plates.

  • Patent number: 6195863
Abstract: A pneumatically operated disc brake piston installation tool is disclosed for use in installing a piston into the piston bore of a disc brake caliper housing. The tool comprises a first piston engaging plate and a second plate positionable against the inside surface of an outer shoe bracket of the caliper housing. A cylinder extends from the second plate. A piston shaft is centrally attached to the first plate and extends perpendicularly therefrom, passing slidably through an opening in the second plate into the cylinder. In response to pneumatic pressure, the piston shaft is pushed outwardly against the piston to force the piston back into the piston bore of the caliper housing.

  • Patent number: 6192566
Abstract: A piston pushing tool for use in piston disc brake assemblies having a caliper housing with at least one piston receiving bore open at one end and closed at its opposite end in which an hollow cylindrical piston having a closed end adjacent to the open end of the bore is reciprocably disposed, and an outboard shoe support bracket spaced axially from the open end of the bore and having axially outer and inner surfaces and an opening therethrough generally aligned with the bore. The tool includes a threaded shaft having a distal end, a proximal end, and an intermediate portion. The shaft is proportioned and designed to extend axially through the opening in the support bracket. A handle is connected to the proximal end for rotating the shaft. A first plate is provided for abutting the axially inner surface of the support bracket and a second plate, connected to the distal end of the shaft and having two spaced apart U-shaped extensions, is provided for abutting the closed end of the piston.

  • Patent number: 6154955
Abstract: A machine for removing deckboards from pallets includes a table assembly that establishes a working surface upon which a pallet can be placed and a pair of spaced, parallel, elongate frame members that are spaced from the working surface. The frame members are spaced apart a distance greater than the width of a stringer and are adapted to fit into the spaces between adjacent stringers. A paddle is included as part of each of the frame members, the paddle being movable from a retracted position where the paddle is disposed within the frame member and an extended position where the paddle moves outside the frame member and contacts a deckboard so as to move it relative to the stringers. A hydraulic cylinder moves the paddles between the retracted and extended positions. Preferably, the paddles are hinged for movement such that the deckboards are gradually pried from the stringers in order to minimize damage to the deckboards or stringers as the deckboards are removed.

  • Patent number: 6131263
Abstract: A slot is formed behind each face of a stackable laser bar spacer of the type having a laser bar supporting face and a lower face for contacting a laser bar therebelow, each slot being generally parallel to the face in front of it and being located near an edge thereof. This produces a thin, flap-like portion at an end of each face. When it is desired to release a stuck laser bar from a face, this flap portion is caused to flex in the direction of the laser bar. The laser bar, being relatively inflexible, will be lifted away from the corresponding face, breaking free thereof. The stacked spacers may then be separated and the laser bars removed therefrom.
