  • Patent number: 5054179
Abstract: A water faucet valve removal and insertion tool includes a handle and a self-tapping threaded rod attached to the handle. There is a sleeve coaxial with the threaded rod and threadedly engaged therewith. The sleeve includes a rotational stop which is formed and adapted to interact with a water faucet valve. The threaded rod functions to form an internal thread in the stem of a water faucet valve to thereby attach the tool to the valve. The tool can be used to remove an installed water faucet valve or to insert a water faucet valve within a faucet housing. In either event the tool is attached to a water valve by the threaded rod and uses the rotational stop to turn an installed faucet valve or to turn a valve during insertion for proper alignment thereof.

  • Patent number: 5040277
Abstract: An installation tool is disclosed for installing an insert in a workpiece to the correct depth and swaging it in a single operation. The tool includes a mandrel having an externally threaded shaft at its outer end for engaging the insert. The mandrel is rotated to install the insert in the workpiece to the correct depth by a motor having an output shaft connected to the mandrel by a first clutch assembly. After the insert has been installed to the correct depth, the mandrel stops rotating and the first clutch assembly disengages. A second clutch assembly then engages with the output shaft causing a swaging element to advance outwardly from the tool to swage the insert in the workpiece. When the swaging operation has been completed, the motor reverses direction and withdraws from the workpiece.

The lock includes a handle and a pair of blade constraining barriers which extend beneath the mower deck and resist rotation, combined with a locking mechanism which attaches to the mower deck. The locking mechanism preferably includes a threaded shank which clamps the mower deck between the barriers and an abutment on the shank for resisting rotation of the blade relative to the deck. In this manner, the lock is easy to attach and remove, and thus is also useful during storage of the mower to prevent inadvertent starting of the lawn mower by children. Moreover, the lawn mower blade lock is economical to construct and easy to attach.

After the fly wheel and the ignition coil are placed on the set jig and are delivered to the two holding means of the assembling jig, a large space is maintained between the fly wheel and the ignition coil so that when the fly wheel is turned to be aligned, there is no magnetic force acting between the fly wheel and the ignition coil. Thus, the fly wheel can be easily assembled to the crankshaft. Thereafter, the ignition coil is brought to approach the fly wheel and is assembled to the engine main body where it is located at its normal facing position in relation to the fly wheel.

  • Patent number: 4783893
Abstract: The method for removing a head portion with a shank section from a shaft of a golf club is effected by an assembly comprising securing means for fixing the position of a shaft of the golf club along the longitudinal axis of the shaft. Head grasping mechanism is mounted to rotate with respect to the securing mechanism and the longitudinal axis of the shaft secured in a fixed position. The head grasping mechanism is effective to hold the head during rotation thereof, thereby turning the head about an axis of rotation. Drive mechanism rotates the head grasping mechanism about the axis of rotation while applying pressure to the head in a directon parallel to the longitudinal axis and away from the fixed shaft. The method includes the step of heating the outer surface of the hosel section of the head portion for expanding the material therein with respect to the shaft. After the heating step, the pressure is applied to the head while the head portion is still heated.

  • Patent number: 4782574
Abstract: The socket of a plug and socket type coupling is mounted with an assembly tool which makes sure that a threaded connection between the socket and a mounting member is properly tightened. When the socket is to be mounted, the socket is operated to a disengaged condition and the assembly tool is inserted into the socket. The socket is then operated to an engaged condition. This causes locking elements in the socket to engage the assembly tool to hold the assembly tool in the socket. Torque is then applied to the assembly tool. When the threaded connection has been tightened to a desired extent, a breakway section of the assembly tool fractures to interrupt the transmission of force to the socket. The socket is then operated to the released condition and the end portion of the broken assembly tool is removed from the socket. A plug is then inserted in the socket to enable fluid under pressure to be conducted through the coupling.

Abstract: Improved torque multiplier wrench for installing or removing retaining bolts, nuts and the like from rotatable objects such as the flywheel on the shaft of an automobile engine. The tool is fitted near one end with a portion adapted for torqueing engagement with the head of the bolt, nut or other removable object, and is further fitted near the other end with a toothed rotatable member adapted for engagement with a surface at or near the rim of the flywheel or the like. By turning the toothed rotatable member while it is in engagement with the flywheel or similar member, motion of the adjacent end wrench is made to occur, thus imparting torque to the opposite end that is in engagement with the bolt, nut or similar object.

  • Patent number: 4726535
Abstract: A machine for removing the closure or cap and the plastic base cup from a soft plastic bottle includes a conveyor which advances bottles sidewise along a horizontal path. During such advance, the bottles move along a stationary bar which holds the bottles against turning while the caps are engaged by a plurality of stationary serrated blade assemblies so that, due to the advance of the bottles, these assemblies turn the caps and unthread them from the bodies of the bottles. At the same time, stationary cams engage the base cups and the advance of the bottles causes the cams to pull the cups endwise off the bottoms of the bottle bodies. Subsequently, a sensor detects and is effective to separate clear bodies from colored bodies. As a result, the caps, the cups, clear bodies and colored bodies are separated for individual recycling.

Abstract: A method for and an apparatus for assembly of rotating ring rotary compressors is disclosed. A cylinder, shaft, roller and supports are initially assembled together, fixing means being kept in a slackened position. A preliminary centering operation is then carried out for bringing the axis of the shaft into a diametral plane of the cylinder constituting a predetermined reference plane. This operation is carried out by orientation of the shaft into two angular positions spaced from each other by 180.degree.. The shaft is then oriented relative to the cylinder, the region of maximum eccentricity of the core being brought into the said reference plane. The support and the cylinder (this latter with the interposition of the roller) are then pressed onto the shaft by a thrust exerted in the said predetermined plane.
