The moving seat is driven by a driving assembly of the electric rivet gun and is movable relative to the stationary seat. While the Hall effect sensor moves along with the moving seat between the two magnetic elements, the Hall effect sensor detects a changing magnetic field and produces and outputs a changing voltages to a control unit to allow the control unit to operate the driving assembly according to the changing voltages. Thus, the moving seat can be accurately positioned and moving ranges of a snapping device that is driven by the driving assembly can be accurately controlled.

Abstract: A blind rivet fastening device in which a passage for collecting broken mandrels is provided other than on the axis of the motor. A large collection chamber is provided for broken mandrels. A collection chamber for broken mandrels is provided in front of a brushless electric motor in the axial direction. When the electric motor rotates, power from the electric motor is transmitted to a spindle positioned to the rear of the collection chamber via a second shaft positioned below the collection chamber. When the spindle rotates, a pulling head moves in the axial direction. The axial position of the pulling head is determined by detecting the rotation count of the electric motor. Forward rotation, reverse rotation, and stopping of the electric motor are controlled based on the operation of a trigger and the axial position of the pulling head. Abstract: What is proposed is a device for setting blind rivets which has a motor-actuated pulling device for pulling on the rivet mandrel. The pulling device comprises a disk spring which is initially stressed during the actuation of the pulling device. As soon as the force exerted on the rivet mandrel by the pulling device is sufficiently large such that the rivet mandrel breaks off as intended, the previously stressed spring suddenly relaxes and results in the part of the pulling device which engages on the rivet mandrel butting against a stop. As a result, this part of the pulling device then stops abruptly whereas the rivet mandrel is projected further. It is possible in this way for the rivet mandrel to be conveyed into a rivet mandrel container present in the housing without a user having to execute a particular operation for this purpose.

Abstract: A steel ball 11 is housed in a hole 10 which extends from an inner wall toward an outer wall of a nose piece 3 and obliquely rearward with respect to a rivet inserting port 6 as shown by an arrow A. An elastic ring 12 elastically pushes the ball 11 from the outer wall toward the inner wall so that a part of the ball 11 may project into the port 6 whereby the mandrel 5 is grasped. As the hole 10 extends obliquely rearward with respect to the port 6, the ball 11 can move easily when the mandrel 5 travels in the inserting direction but the ball 11 is difficult to move when the mandrel 5 travels in the direction opposite to the inserting direction. As a result, the ball 11 blocks the mandrel 5 from travelling.

  • Patent number: 7832074
Abstract: Method and apparatus is provided for monitoring the installation of a blind rivet to attach together top and bottom members. The blind rivet installation tool includes a housing having an anvil seated on the rivet head. A collet is reciprocable within the tool housing and carries jaws for gripping the mandrel of the blind rivet. Retraction of the jaws by the collet displaces the jaws and the mandrel axially and causes the mandrel head to axially collapse and radially expand the hollow shank of the blind rivet into engagement with the bottom member so that the rivet attaches the top member and the bottom member. A cut off tool is actuated by an actuator to cut off the mandrel flush with the rivet head. Transducers and a process controller monitor the installation process and actuate the cut off blade upon determining that the blind rivet is properly installed.

  • Publication number: 20100275424
Abstract: To provide a blind rivet fastening device that makes it easy to mount a blind rivet in the nose and that keeps the mounted blind rivet from falling out of the nose. When the nose is connected slidably to the tool housing in the axial direction, the nose resists the action of the elastic pushing means and is slid so as to be pulled rearward in the axial direction, and the jaw is pulled rearward in the axial direction in the jaw guide. When this has occurred, the inner diameter of the jaw is increased, the mandrel is easily inserted into the jaw, the force pulling the nose rearward in the axial direction is released, the jaw is returned forward axially in the jaw guide by the pushing force of the elastic pushing means, and the inner peripheral surface of the jaw is frictionally engaged with the mandrel.
