  • Patent number: 8151465
Abstract: A mounting system is disclosed for mounting a bearing assembly or other mechanical element to a shaft. The mounting system uses a tapered sleeve mechanism to secure the bearing assembly on the shaft. Specifically, a pressure loaded piston drives the sleeve from a pre-assembled position to an initial position. The initial position is determined by monitoring the pressure applied to the piston. Once the initial position has been reached, a linear indicator is used to measure the axial sleeve movement from the initial position to a final position. The system remains in place after the bearing is installed on the shaft and facilitates removal of the bearing assembly from the shaft.

Abstract: A fluid activated connecting pin removal tool, includes a body defining a first cavity adapted to receive a portion of a work piece and a second cavity positioned substantially perpendicular to and intersecting the first cavity. When a fluid activated cylinder is mounted to the body in a first orientation relative to the second cavity, expansion of the fluid activated cylinder results in a piston extending from the cylinder into the first cavity in which the work piece is positioned to exert a force upon a connecting pin connecting portions of the work piece. When the fluid activated cylinder is mounted to the body in a second orientation relative to the second cavity, the secondary cavity serves as a storage compartment for the fluid activated cylinder.

Abstract: A crimping tool includes an anvil having a crimping surface containing at least one channel and a clamp having a crimping surface containing at least one channel arranged opposite the anvil crimping surface. The clamp is displaceable between an open position where the clamp is spaced from the anvil and a closed position where the clamp abuts the anvil with the crimping surfaces being arranged in contiguous relation and the channels being arranged opposite each other. A drive mechanism displaces the clamp between the open and closed positions. When a fastener is arranged in the anvil channel and the clamp is displaced to the closed position, the fastener is compressed in the clamp and anvil channels to fasten a fishing line or other element therein.

Abstract: A stent loading device may comprise a stent crimping device, a fluid source and a support device arranged to support and move a stent delivery device. The fluid source may provide chilled fluid capable of placing a shape memory material into a martensitic state. After stent crimping, as the crimping device opens, the fluid flow may advance at least a portion of the stent into the delivery device. A step procedure may be used to move the rest of the stent into the delivery device, wherein the delivery device may be moved away from the crimping device, the portion of the stent still in the crimping device may be crimped again, and the delivery device may be moved back to its original position, thereby stepping another portion of the stent into the delivery device. The step procedure may be repeated until the entire stent is oriented within the delivery device.

Abstract: A tool is disclosed for driving a slide under a wedge within a slot of an armature or field of a dynamoelectric machine. The tool comprises a frame including a pair of elongated rail members; a force application block located between the rail members; a drive connected to the frame, substantially intermediate opposite ends of the frame; a lead screw threadably engaged at one end with the force application block and connected at an opposite end to the drive such that the drive rotates the lead screw when actuated. Rotation of the lead screw causes axial movement of the force application block. The armature or field includes a core, and this core may have one or more vent slots for facilitating ventilation of the armature or field. A slot plate for locating the tool relative to the slide is present, and a portion of the slot plate extends into one or more vent slots. The slot plate establishes a reaction point for forces applied by the force application block to the stator slide.
