  • Patent number: 7266884
Abstract: The wedge removal apparatus includes an elongated frame having telescopic elements at opposite ends with cylinders to engage pads along opposite sides of the frame against diametrically opposed wedges of stator core slots. The frame mounts a linear drive assembly carrying a carriage for longitudinal movement relative to the drive assembly and frame. The carriage mounts diametrically opposed heads and a cylinder displaces the heads radially outwardly to engage the wedges and compress underlying ripple springs. Saws carried by the heads cut through the wedges as the carriage is displaced along the frame and without binding because of the force applied to the wedges compressing the ripple springs. The linear drive assembly is rotated to discrete circumferential positions to cut the wedges of additional diametrically opposed slots.

Abstract: A low impact shaft remover apparatus that aids in the removal of a shaft attachment that has become stuck to a shaft is described. In general, the apparatus includes a main body having an open end, a hollow interior and an internal conduit located within a portion of the main body. A valve is connected to the main body and coupled to the conduit. A leading edge of the main body includes an angled wall that aids in the formation of a reservoir formed when the leading edge is connected to a surface of the shaft attachment such as a hub. A suitable lubricating fluid is inserted into the valve, through the conduit and ultimately stored in the reservoir generally around the circumference of the shaft. Pressure is then applied to the valve which pushes the fluid into any available spaces between the attachment and the shaft.

Abstract: The present invention is a method and apparatus for removing a golf club head from a golf club shaft. A clamping mechanism secures the shaft of the golf club within the apparatus while a force mechanism applies sufficient force against the golf club head to separate the golf club head from the golf club shaft upon the breaking of an epoxy bond securing the golf club head to the golf club shaft. Heat is then applied to the golf club head to release or melt the epoxy bond. Simultaneous with breaking the epoxy bond, the force mechanism detaches the golf club head from the golf club shaft.

Abstract: The fastener installation apparatus and method of the present invention include a housing and a moveable body at least partially within the housing. The moveable body defines a plurality of openings and is fixably attached to at least one piston, which is in moveable contact with the housing. First and second cavities are defined on opposite sides of the piston and respective openings in the moveable body are in communication with opposite sides of the piston. In addition, a valve directs a fluid through the appropriate openings in the moveable body and into the first cavity or the second cavity, as desired, which, in turn, alternately extends and retracts the moveable body relative to the housing. A jaw extends from the housing in alignment with the moveable body, such that the jaw and the moveable body cooperate to install a fastener upon extension of the moveable body.

Abstract: The device comprises a base for positioning a tire and a lever pivoted on a support and able to move and be fixed in position along a plane which is radial with respect to the center of the base. An active end of the lever, located on an L-shaped bend at an end of the lever, can be introduced internally of the opening to interact contactingly with the internal surface of a part of the support ring pre-inserted in the opening. By acting on the lever, the active end presses the ring against the inside of the tire with radial force. The support ring is of a type which when applied on a vehicle wheel enables the vehicle to continue moving for a considerable time even where tire pressure is suddenly lost.

  • Patent number: 6832425
Abstract: A gasket singulation apparatus for separating one gasket from a web-connected stack of gaskets includes a mandrel for receiving the web-connected stack and an arrangement of cylinders which are used to support the web-connected stack of gaskets and to pull one gasket away from the remainder of the web-connected stack so as to singulate that one gasket. A first plurality of cylinders are used to support the web-connected stack. A second plurality of cylinders are used to pierce any connecting material between the gasket to be singulated and the remainder of the stack. Once the web material is pierced, cylinder movement is effected so as to pull the selected gasket away from the stack, allowing any connecting material to sever and thereby singulate one gasket from the stack. Once the gasket is singulated, various insertion mechanisms are disclosed for inserting the singulated gasket into a pail lid groove.

Abstract: A tool for installing blind threaded inserts utilizes an expanding mandrel to engage the threads of the insert being installed. The expanding mandrel is an externally threaded assembly having a plurality of movable segments separated by axially-extending radial slots. The slot width is chosen such that when the mandrel is in a collapsed state the external diameter of the mandrel will pass through the minor diameter of the insert's internal thread. The segments are movable radially between a collapsed state, the condition of the mandrel segments when they are in their inward most position of minimum diameter, and an expanded state, when the mandrel segments are moved outwardly to their position of maximum diameter. The mandrel of the invention also extends and retracts axially to compress and thereby install the deformable insert.

Abstract: A method and apparatus involving releasing the rotor (1) and turning it to and fixing it at top dead center, attaching an extractor head to an exposed end of the hammer axle. A cross-piece (2.1) is applied and a releasable element of a slide (2.4) of a hammer axle puller is pulled, making a releasable connection between cross-piece and rotor attachment elements. The slide is moved to a position in which the puller head is connected to the slide in a shape-locking manner, securing the hammer position, returning the carriage whilst extracting the hammer axle (1.5) to release the hammer.
