  • Patent number: 9638227
Abstract: An apparatus configured to structurally replace a cracked weld in a nuclear plant may include: a first body portion that includes a first gripping portion; a second body portion that includes a second gripping portion; a wedge portion between the first and second body portions; and/or an adjustment portion. The first body portion may be configured to slidably engage the second body portion. The wedge portion may be configured to exert force on the slidably engaged first and second body portions. The adjustment portion may be configured to increase or decrease the force exerted by the wedge portion on the slidably engaged first and second body portions. When the adjustment portion increases the force exerted by the wedge portion on the slidably engaged first and second body portions, a distance between the first and second gripping portions may decrease.

The method includes preparing a surrounding surface (22) of the crack (14) for repair and welding a first portion (24) of the component (12) on a first side (26) of the crack (14) to a second portion (28) of the component (12) on a second side (30) of the crack (14) to form a fused crack area (50). The method may also include applying a patch (78) over the fused crack area (50) for additional strength.

  • Patent number: 6801733
Abstract: A printer cartridge and method of making or refurbishing a printer cartridge are disclosed. The printer cartridge may include a first cartridge subassembly attached to a second cartridge subassembly. The first cartridge subassembly may include a first conductive terminal and the second cartridge subassembly may include a second conductive terminal that is normally in electrical contact with the first conductive terminal when the first and second subassemblies are assembled. A compressible toner seal may be disposed between the first and second cartridge subassemblies. A compressible, electrically conductive extension may be attached to the first conductive terminal to compensate for variations in thickness of the compressible toner seal or relative movement of the first cartridge subassembly relative to the second cartridge subassembly when the first and second subassemblies are attached to one another to form the printer cartridge.

  • Patent number: 6770349
Abstract: A sandwich structure does not permit the permeation of water and a sandwich structure repairing method is capable of easily repairing the sandwich structure. A sandwich structure (1) includes a core (4) formed of a closed-cell foam plastic material, and surface plates (2, 3) formed of a fiber-reinforced composite material containing hydrophobic inorganic fibers as reinforcing fibers and bonded to the opposite surfaces of the core (4). Water is unable to permeate the sandwich structure.

  • Patent number: 6244133
Abstract: A cam and follower system for use with an automatic doffing system of a rotor spinning machine. The system includes a cover member for covering the cam lobes of a cam gear found in the automatic doffing system of a rotor spinning machine. The system also includes a cam follower for connection to the automatic doffing system. The cover member has cam surfaces which are complimentary to and which act to renew the original cam surfaces of the cam gear's cam lobes. The cam follower is adapted to engage and ride upon the cover member's cam surfaces during operation of the automatic doffing system.

  • Patent number: 6243950
Abstract: A process for repairing a framework (1) composed of profile members, in particular for repairing the body structure of a vehicle in which a damaged subassembly (10) composed of several profile members (11-15) is removed by cutting through the profile members at locations which are still undamaged and replaced by a corresponding replacement subassembly (10E). For flush fitting of the replacement subassembly against the free ends of the cut profile members of the framework (1), a fitting case (20) is slidably inserted into the end of the respective profile members of the replacement subassembly or of the profile members of the framework. After positioning the replacement assembly the fitting cases are slidably displaced such that they extend partially into the abutting ends of the profile members. The profile members are then permanently secured to the fitting cases.

  • Patent number: 6178635
Abstract: A method of repairing a crack in a boiling water reactor shroud with a clamp having pins eccentrically mounted on disks connected by a structural member includes inserting the pins into openings formed in the shroud on opposite sides of the weld and turning the disks to rotate the pins toward the weld such that edges of the holes are engaged by the pins to transmit loads from the shroud to the structural member rather than the weld. A seal member is mounted in compression between a flange at an inboard end of at least one of the pins and an inner surface of the shroud to control leakage through the opening in the shroud.
