Abstract: A remanufacturing and salvaging strategy for fuel injector tips such as high flow fuel injector tips includes blocking a first set of spray orifices in the fuel injector tip, including at least partially filling the first set of spray orifices with a material, for example by laser welding. New spray orifices are formed in virgin material of the fuel injector tip, offset from the former spray orifices, also for example via a laser. A remanufactured fuel injector tip includes blocked former spray orifices as well as new spray orifices configured to permit spraying of fuel from the fuel injector tip.

Abstract: A jet pump diffuser weld repair device includes a lower ring section and an upper ring section respectively sized to fit around a circumference of the diffuser on opposite sides of the weld to be repaired. The lower and upper ring sections are provided with a plurality of aligned gripper slots. A corresponding plurality of grippers are fit into the gripper slots, where at least one of the gripper slots and the grippers defines cam surfaces shaped to drive the grippers radially inward as lower and upper ring sections are drawn toward each other. A plurality of connector bolts are secured between the lower ring section and the upper ring section. Tightening of the connector bolts draws the lower and upper ring sections toward each other.

Abstract: A turbine housing (430) includes a support housing (440) with an annular shape. The support housing (432) includes an outer surface (433) and an inner surface (434). The inner surface (434) is located radially inward from the outer surface (433). A plurality of cooling holes (431) extols through the support housing(440) from the outer surface (433) to the inner surface (434). The cooling holes (431) include a stadium shape. The stadium shape includes a rectangle with a top and bottom of a first length and ends capped with semicircles with a radius of a second length. The cooling holes (431) are disposed at an angle (98) from thirty to sixty degrees. The angle (98) is between a line (96) projected to the outer surface (433) from an axis of the turbine housing (430) and a line (97) extending through a center of each cooling hole (431) parallel to the first length.

  • Patent number: 8673095
Abstract: A system and method for repairing a screen for use in the paper mill industry consists in using a small circular-shaped die or rotary cutter to cut through a multilayer wire. A first, small diameter punch die is used to cut through all of the damaged layers and then, each successive punch die is configured with a larger diameter and a flange that makes it go less deeply so that it cuts all but the bottom most damaged layer. The process is repeated for each layer with increasing diameter punch dies so that each hole is larger in diameter. In doing so, it is easy to reach the bottom most layer from the top, put in a patch and micro weld it and then move up to the next layer and still having room for the welding because of a larger hole still on the layer above it.
