Metal Deforming With Nonmetallic Bonding Patents (Class 29/469.5)
  • Patent number: 6202276
Abstract: The present invention provides a process for manufacturing an electromagnetic interference shielding metallic foil cladded plastic outer shell product. A first side of a superplastic alloy foil is coated with an adhesive and then the foil is placed foil in a first half mold to allow the foil to be initially superplastically formed. A second half mold attached to a nozzle of an injection machine is covered onto the first half mold, and the two half molds are closed to further deform superplastic alloy foil. Softened plastic is introduced from the injection machine to a mold cavity between the foil and the second half mold, such that the superplastic alloy foil covered on the first half mold is completely formed and the softened plastic adheres on the adhesive-coated side of the superplastic alloy foil to form an electromagnetic interference shielding metallic foil cladded plastic outer shell product.

  • Patent number: 6182348
Abstract: A covering for a flower pot with a floral grouping disposed therein and extending a distance above an upper end of the flower pot wherein the flower pot has a lower end and an outer peripheral surface. The covering includes a sheet of material having an upper surface, a lower surface and an outer peripheral surface with a sheet extension connected to the outer peripheral surface of the sheet of material and extending a distance from the outer peripheral surface of the sheet of material. The sheet of material is formed about the flower pot to a position wherein the sheet of material extends about substantially the entire outer peripheral surface of the flower pot to provide a decorative covering and the sheet extension is formed about the floral grouping to a position wherein the sheet extension extends about a substantial portion of the floral grouping to provide a protective covering.

  • Patent number: 6178618
Abstract: The specification discloses a preferred system, apparatus, and method for constructing a pivot cartridge assembly. The preferred embodiment of the present invention involves the following steps. A pivot bearing and an actuator assembly are provided. The actuator assembly has an aperture for receiving the pivot bearing. The actuator assembly is heated until the aperture of the actuator assembly expands to accommodate the pivot bearing. The pivot bearing is inserted into the aperture of the heated actuator assembly. When the actuator assembly cools, the aperture of the actuator assembly thermodynamically contracts and constricts around the pivot bearing, locking the bearing in place. As a result, the actuator assembly and pivot bearing behave as a single rigid unit.

  • Patent number: 6167609
Abstract: An aluminum alloy sheet, plate, casting or extrusion having a surface layer containing magnesium oxide and aluminum oxide is cleaned with an acidic solution. The cleaned component has an aluminum oxide layer that is pretreated with a phosphorus-containing organic acid to form a functionalized layer. A layer of polymeric adhesive is applied to the functionalized layer, and the adhesive layer is joined to a metal support structure to form a vehicle assembly.
