Methods for controlling intersegment gaps between a plurality of shroud segments forming an annular shroud assembly and for forming such annular shroud assembly are also provided.

The apparatus further comprises: a metal member for engaging plural ties, the metal member including a tie fastener hole at plural locations, and a nut for fastening a threaded end of the threaded hook bolt for installation when the threaded hook bolt is passed through the bolt hole and optionally a washer. When the threaded hook bolt is installed, including passing a threaded end of the threaded hook bolt through the bolt hole and fastening with the nut, the hook engages the superstructure. The apparatus is installed from above the superstructure without drilling holes in ties or the superstructure, or requiring manned installation from below the superstructure.

Each tool includes a block or base of magnetic material with a passageway opening for the fastener associated with the tool passing through the base. The robotic assembly positions the tool against one side of the structural pieces to be fastened, and positions an electromagnet assembly on the opposite side of the structural pieces. Activating the electromagnet assembly clamps the structural pieces together. With the fastener positioned in a hole through the structural pieces, the tool is activated to install the fastener between the structural pieces.

    Abstract: A nut (23) and a re-usable liner bolt (17) for a grinding mill is disclosed. The nut is shaped to be received in the recess (5) of a mill liner plate (3), this being the recess which normally receives the head of a conventional liner bolt. The nut is provided with a blind threaded hole (25). The re-usable bolt has a stepped shank (18) and a thread (20) on its free end. The bolt (17) is inserted from the exterior of the mill and engages the nut (23). The fines produced during grinding cement the nut to the liner but do not cement the bolt to the liner or the bolt to the nut. The head of a conventional liner bolt is located within the mill and its conventional nut is located exterior of the mill, whereas the re-usable bolt (17) has its head exterior of the mill and its nut (23) interior of the mill.     Abstract: Liner plates of mild steel layered over with chromium carbide are provided with a bi-planar spacer clip also acting as a lifting eye on the top surfaces thereof and fasteners such as bolts or studs extending from the exposed planar surface of the mild steel layer. A chain and hook arrangement is used to deliver and locate each liner plate adjacent a wall upon which the liner plates are to be mounted in vertically stacked relationship. The clips serve as spacers between vertically stacked liner plates and the fasteners extend through pre-formed holes in the wall of the delivery structure. The clips have a notched base portion which receives a weld bead running along the top exposed edge of only the mild steel layer. The clips are left in place after installation and are gradually worn away by ore traveling through the delivery structure.
