Abstract: Systems and methods for mechanically coupling multiple components using captured threaded connectors are provided. The attachment points between components are aligned along a common central axis about which the channels are aligned. Threaded connectors are provided and contained within a pocket within each component, prior to assembly of the system. As a result, components of the system can be detached without disassembly of other components, or without the use of special thread patterns to allow clearance for the driver for the head of each. Threaded connectors are kept from falling out and are also allowed to float along their axis within the channel so that components can be aligned first, and then anchored together. Drivers used to couple components have a diameter smaller than the channel.

Abstract: In embodiments, a modular rifle includes a lower receiver assembly, an upper receiver assembly housing a barrel, and a coupling mechanism. Upper receiver assembly has two portions, an aft portion and fore portion, commonly comprising a hand guard. The barrel is releasably attached to the upper receiver first portion by a hand-tightenable barrel nut sleeve connector. Upper receiver second portion is both releasably attached to the barrel nut connector sleeve and to the upper receiver first portion to prevent the barrel nut connector sleeve from rotating during firing of the rifle and to keep the second portion from detaching during firing of the rifle. Attachment of upper receiver second portion to the barrel nut connector sleeve is accomplished by a removable take-down pin and common screw clamp, which secure the barrel nut connector sleeve. Upper receiver first and second portions are connected by an attachment tab and receptacle.

Abstract: Among other things, one or more clamping apparatuses for securing a photovoltaic module to a rail are described. The clamping apparatus comprises, among other things, a spacer that is configured to cause a space of a specified distance to be created between a clamp of the clamping apparatus and a rail to which the photovoltaic module is secured. In this way, the clamping apparatus may be attached to the rail prior to the module being positioned relative to the rail. Moreover, one or more methods are described for preassembling a rail that comprises clamping apparatuses and/or for preassembling a clamping apparatus. Such preassembly of the clamping apparatus may reduce installation time and reduce total cost associated with photovoltaic arrays.

Abstract: A method of preventing inadvertent interconnection between a first medical system and a second medical system utilizes a luer fitting connector/adapter that acts as a modified-to-standard size converter piece. The adapter may complete a fluid tight medical system. The adapter may have one end having at least one non-standard sized luer fitting dimension. The non-standard end of the adapter may sealingly interconnect with a luer fitting member having a corresponding non-standard sized dimension. As a result, the adapter and luer fitting member may be directly interconnected with one another while remaining incompatible with standard sized luer fittings. Using the adapter may facilitate preventing the inadvertent direct interconnection of standard sized luer fitting members intended for different purposes, such as the delivery of a feed paste or a medication to a desired location within a patient.
