  • Patent number: 4932113
Abstract: A slide fastener is made from a workpiece formed of a pair of longitudinally extending parallel tapes having confronting edges provided with longitudinally extending and transversely couplable coupling elements. This workpiece is passed along a treatment path through a gapping station, a bottom-stop installing station, a slider-mounting station, a top-stop installing station, and a cutting station. The elements are removed from the tapes at gaps spaced longitudinally of the workpiece in the gapping station and a bottom stop is fitted to the elements at one end of each of the gaps in the bottom-stop installing station. A slider is mounted on the elements at the slider-mounting station between each gap and the following gap and a top stop is fitted to the elements in the top-stop installing station at each gap. Finally the tapes of the workpiece are transversely cut at the gaps at the cutting station into individual slide fasteners.

  • Patent number: 4825537
Abstract: An improved lead insertion apparatus for randomly inserting crimped wire leads one at a time into a multicircuit connector includes a pair of elongate insertion jaws for longitudinally surrounding and gripping a crimp terminated wire lead. The insertion jaws are actuable by a gripper control between a first open position, a second intermediate gripping position wherein the jaws are axially slideable along the gripped wire lead and a third closed position wherein the jaws firmly grip the lead in a non-slideable manner. The jaws and their gripper control are mounted for axial movement along the wire lead into the insertion station. A drive for the jaws moves the jaws in their intermediate wire gripping position along the wire segment until a proximity sensor senses the tips of the jaws abutting the rear end of the crimp terminal. In response to the sensor the gripper control changes the jaws to their closed position on the wire prior to insertion.

  • Patent number: 4795519
Abstract: A conveying device for testing and reprocessing objects (25) processed by a processing station (27), especially labelled objects (25), as for example ampoules, containers or syringes. A conveyor device conveys objects (25) to be processed in a continual, uniform motion through the processing station (27). The objects (25) are held therein in pickups (23). A feeding device (33) leads the objects individually toward the conveying device (21). A checking station (31) examines the processing result. A control stops, in case of determining an insufficiently processed, for example not labelled objects (25b), the feeding device (33) and gradually brakes the conveying device (21). The control then reverses the direction of movement of the conveying device (21) until the insufficiently processed object (21b) has reached again the processing station (27).

  • Patent number: 4791715
Abstract: A cassette pulley is assembled from a flange part having three assembly pins which are received in corresponding holes of a hub part. The hub part has a number of reinforcing ribs which divide the bottom of the hub part into a number of recesses which are conveniently employed to hold the hub part on a group of hub holding stub shafts during assembly. Because there are more recesses than holding stub shafts, the hub may assume more than one orientation relative to the stub shafts. In order to achieve proper relative orientation of hub and flange, the hub holder is formed with a hole that is aligned with one of the hub holes when the hub is in one of a selected group of orientations. Optical sensing of such alignment enables the flange to be positioned in an orientation appropriate for assembly of the flange pins into the hub holes.

  • Patent number: 4589184
Abstract: A method of mounting parts to both sides of a main body characterized by moving a carriage at a predetermined speed along a specified path of transport with the main body placed on the carriage; moving a pair of movable tables in synchronism with the carriage in the same direction as the movement thereof, the movable tables being disposed at opposite sides of the transport path and each carrying at least one robot and an assembling device; causing the movable tables to support the main body during the synchronized movement; setting a part held by the robot in a specified position on the main body; attaching the part to the main body by the assembling device; and thereafter delivering the main body from the movable tables onto the carriage. Since the carriage is moved during the assembly of parts, this method assures the assembly line of a high-speed operation.

  • Patent number: 4581816
Abstract: A method for axially aligning adjacent opposing faces of a first and second shaft segment having a respective joint face, of a steam turbine rotor to be welded together includes mating the joint faces of each shaft segment, placing a crushable lip, which axially extends from one of the joint faces, under an axially compressive force, and supporting the joined shaft segments at their axially outboard ends. An apparatus for axially aligning opposing end faces of a first and second shaft segment to be welded together, the first and second shaft segments including a respective joint face, comprises an adjustable support for raising and lowering the joined shaft segments thereby changing the axial distance across the annular groove defined by adjacent opposing end faces to be welded. Means for measuring the force at the adjustable support, provides an indication of the weight counteracted by the support when optimum axial alignment of the shaft segments is achieved.
