  • Patent number: 10886684
Abstract: A bonding method for a conductor of an electric wire including a conductor formed of a plurality of strands and a sheath covering the conductor such that the conductor is exposed to a predetermined length. The bonding method includes bonding the strands to each other, the strands being spaced apart from the sheath by a predetermined length. An outer diameter of a middle portion of the conductor between a bonded portion and a portion covered with the sheath gradually decreases toward the bonded portion. A maximum value of an intersection angle between an upper surface of the bonded portion or a longitudinal direction of the electric wire and the strands of the middle portion is smaller than a predetermined angle. The predetermined angle is an angle at which breakage of the strands is prevented when the bonding is performed.

Abstract: A bonding method for a conductor of an electric wire includes a conductor formed of a plurality of strands and a sheath covering the conductor such that the conductor is exposed to a predetermined length. The bonding method ultrasonically bonds the plurality of strands of the electric wire to each other using an anvil and a horn. When the strands are ultrasonically bonded to each other by clamping a part of the conductor exposed from the sheath between the anvil and the horn throughout a predetermined length and ultrasonically vibrating the horn, a distance from the anvil or the horn to the sheath of the electric wire is shorter than a length of the strands when the strand vibrates in a primary mode by ultrasonic vibration.

A shrink tube with an inner layer of adhesive is positioned over the permanent connection and the shrink tube, with its layer of adhesive, is heated, thus substantially eliminating any space between the shrink tube and the permanent connection. Abstract: A rotating electric machine (1) has a rotor, a stator (2), and stator windings (3, 4). The windings (3, 4) include high voltage cable drawn through slots (5, 6) in the stator (2). Support members (8) are arranged inside the slots (5, 6) along and in contact with the windings (3, 4), said support members (8) comprising a hose (8?) with a substantially triangular cross-section. A wire (9) is extending through and being attached to each support member (8). When mounting the support members (8) air inside a support member (8) is evacuated in order to shrink the support member (8). Then the wire (9) extending through the support member (8) is used to pull the evacuated support member (8) into a slot (5, 6), whereupon the evacuated support member (8) is expanded by releasing the vacuum inside in order to make it clamp a cable inside a slot (5, 6) of the stator (2).

Abstract: In a method of connecting a terminal with a wire in which a core (2) of a wire is inserted into a tubular wire connecting portion (1) of a terminal, and the wire connecting portion is crimped in a radial direction of the wire, the wire connecting portion is compressed in a radial direction of the wire and uniformly over the whole circumference. While rotating dies (7?) by using a rotary swaging machine, the wire connecting portion is compressed by the dies in a radial direction of the wire and uniformly over the whole circumference. The wire connecting portion is compressed in a radial direction of the wire and uniformly over the whole circumference, and the outer periphery of a compressed part of the wire connecting portion has a true circular section shape.

  • Patent number: 6842977
Abstract: One end of a metallic wire having a rectangular cross-section is widened by upsetting the end of the wire in its axial direction. At the same time, a swollen portion is formed at a position where the widened end portion is to be bent from a straight portion of the wire. Then, the widened end portion is bent at the bending position having the swollen portion. Thus, a metallic wire segment having the widened end portion bent at the bending position is manufactured without wasting any part of wire material, while avoiding formation of cracks on the outer surface of the bending position. Plural wire segments thus manufactured are combined to form a rotor winding of a rotational electric machine, forming a commutator surface by the widened end portions at the same time.

Abstract: A method of manufacturing a stator winding includes a twisting step of U-shaped conductor segments having a pair of straight portions by moving the straight portions in the circumferential direction while restraining the turn portions of the U-shaped conductor segments in the axial direction by a pressing tool. After the previously twisted U-shaped conductor segments are inserted into slots of a stator core, the straight portions are bent in the circumferential direction. The pressing tool is constituted of a stationary top plate that has recesses into which the straight portions are inserted and a movable top plate that is movable to close the recesses after the straight portions are inserted in the recesses.

Abstract: Electrical cables are joined end-to-end within an elongate, imperforate, expandable jointing body. A tubular-shaped mounting tool is inserted into an end of the jointing body and supports at its forward end a separable, forwardly tapered extension cone whose maximum outer diameter substantially corresponds to the desired expanded inner diameter of the jointing body. The mounting tool is inserted into the jointing body when the mounting tool is inserted into the jointing body. A handle rearwardly of the cone permits its removal from the jointing body but the jointing body itself maintains its position so as to maintain an expanded opening in the end of the jointing body. Thereafter, removal of the mounting tool seals the cable joint as a result of contraction of the cross-section area of the jointing body.

Abstract: Various methods are described for assembling and/or coupling heater sections together for assemblage of heaters. The heater sections may be hot or cold heater sections having various geometries, dimensions, and specific electrical resistances. In one method, a cold heater section is assembled onto a pre-fabricated hot heater section with an oversized tube and pre-fabricated insulating cores. In another method, a pre-fabricated cold section is spliced onto a pre-fabricated hot section utilizing pre-fabricated semi-annular insulating cores and an oversized sleeve. In a further method, a first pre-fabricated hot section is spliced onto a second pre-fabricated hot section via an electrically conductive core and an oversized sleeve. These methods allow for the manufacture of stock lengths of hot and cold heater sections, that are then cut to length and coupled together. According to one aspect, the methods reduce tolerance errors in heater length.
