Including Extruding Patents (Class 29/888.452)
  • Patent number: 11229934
Abstract: A method of forming a fiber-reinforced composite part includes forming a composite preform by extruding a hollow metal shape onto a fiber-reinforced preform at an extrusion temperature and cooling the hollow metal shape from the extrusion temperature to a temperature less than the extrusion temperature. Heat from the hollow metal shape cooling from the extrusion temperature is conducted into the fiber-reinforced preform for curing thereof. Also, thermal contraction of the hollow metal shape onto the fiber-reinforced preform applies a consolidation pressure on the fiber-reinforced preform for curing thereof. The fiber-reinforced preform may be a hollow fiber-reinforced preform and a die can be moved through the hollow fiber-reinforced preform such that consolidation pressure is applied thereto by a combination of the thermal contraction of the hollow metal shape onto the hollow fiber-reinforced preform and the die moving through the hollow fiber-reinforced preform.

  • Patent number: 9828892
Abstract: A device for producing at least one hollow valve for a gas exchange system may include at least one valve holder. The at least one valve holder may include a valve stem centring element, a valve receptacle and a valve head holder. The valve receptacle may receive a valve stem and the valve head holder may receive a valve head. A first carrier and a second carrier may be provided. The valve holder may be arranged on the first carrier. At least one cathode holder may be arranged on the second carrier. The cathode holder may include a cathode that is insertable through the first carrier via the valve stem centring element. At least one contact plate may be arranged opposite the valve head holder.

  • Patent number: 9611953
Abstract: A hollow poppet valve (10) has an internal cavity (S) which comprises a diametrically large valve head cavity (S1) formed in a valve head (14) and a diametrically small stem cavity (S2) formed in a stem (12) in communication with the valve head cavity (S1). The stem cavity has a diametrically larger first portion (S21) near the end of the stem and a diametrically smaller second portion (S22) near the valve head. A step (17) is formed at the boundary of the first and the second portion of the stem cavity (S2). The internal cavity is loaded with a coolant to a level above the step, together with an inert gas. In response to a reciprocal motion of the valve, turbulent flows of coolant (F9) are created in the neighborhood of the step (17), facilitating active stirring of the coolant (19) in the cavity (S).

  • Patent number: 8689439
Abstract: In a method and system for forming tubing to achieve at least one predetermined performance characteristic relating to the flow of a flowable material therethrough, a relationship is determined between at least one material characteristic of the tubing material, at least one operating parameter of the tube forming machine, and the at least one predetermined performance characteristic of the tubing. Based on this relationship, at least one operating parameter for operation of the tube forming machine to achieve the at least one predetermined performance characteristic is determined. The at least one operating parameter is input into the tube forming machine and the machine is operated to achieve the at least one predetermined performance characteristic.

  • Patent number: 6779267
Abstract: A method for increasing the wear-resistance of a work piece involves connecting the work piece to a non-formable core material having a greater hardness than that of the work piece material. In order to improve the connection while simultaneously reducing the costs, the core material is connected in a form-fitting manner to the work piece by means of cold extrusion or hot extrusion of the work piece material.
