  • Patent number: 7820302
Abstract: An areal metal element is described having a surface which extends from a first outside edge to a second outside edge lying opposite the first out-side edge. The region of the metal element adjoining the first outside edge forms a first edge region and the region of the metal element adjoining the second outside edge forms a second side region. Both side regions are connected to one another by a central region lying therebetween, with at least one completely bordered aperture being formed at least in one of the side regions, with its border being formed in one part by this side region and in another part by the central region. The central region includes at least two sections which each consist of two outwardly disposed part sections and a central part section lying therebetween. The outwardly disposed part sections are folded over with respect to the central section to produce the aperture.

The process includes drilling one or more holes from the back side of a test plate which has been plated on a plated side. The holes are drilled partway through the test plate and create cavities. A penetrating tool which has a point is inserted into a cavity and the point is pressed in a slow measured manner from the back side of the panel which has a brittle plated coating on the front side to be cracked. The result is a series of cracks formed in an area opposite the area of the cavity.

  • Patent number: 6718635
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a container comprising a first piece of mesh material and at least one separate second piece of mesh material. The first piece of mesh is bent to form a bottom wall and a first pair of sidewalls. The second piece of material forms a second pair of sidewalls. When the pieces are joined together, a basket portion with an upwardly-extending opening is formed. The basket portion may further include a runner portion that may be a separate rail connected to the basket portion, thus forming a drawer. When the container is used with a drawer system including a frame, the runner portion is slidably received in a pair of frame runners. This allows the drawer to move with respect to the frame between retracted and extended positions. The present invention is also directed to a method for making such containers.

  • Patent number: 6691413
Abstract: An underdrain filtration system has improved perforation structure, the perforations being positioned to admit the filtrate into a plenum defined by elongated underdrain rib structures of the system. Instead of drilled or laser-cut holes or slits, the slits are formed by stamping discs from the stainless steel plate, such that the discs extend parallel to the surrounding flat area but are raised just sufficiently to define a plurality of slits under each disc, preferably two to four slits, each being an arc of slightly less than 180°, 120° or 90°, respectively. A pair of metal bridges remain to integrally connect the raised disc and the surrounding flat field. Consistent perforation width is achieved, at, for example, 0.010″ width varying by less than 0.001″ in either direction, improving consistency of pressure drop.

Abstract: The method of manufacturing a mechanical basket (P) of substantially cylindrical shape for centripetal or centrifugal flow relative to an axis (R) and comprising rings (A) lying in planes perpendicular to the axis of revolution and wires (F) rigidly connected to the rings at regular intervals for the purpose of sieving a material is characterized in that assembling a wire (F) to a ring (A) comprises a first operation of putting said wire (F) into position in a corresponding notch (EN) in the ring, and a second operation in which the wire is welded to the ring by melting a shoulder (EP1) of the ring, without adding any filler metal. In the method, a mechanical basket is made that presents better mechanical characteristics so that its lifetime is increased, and its cost of manufacture is reduced compared with conventional mechanical baskets.

Abstract: The invention relates to a method of producing a sound-absorbent insulating element with at least two metallic leaves or sheets (2, 3) in the form of films or sheets. According to said method, at least one of said elements is provided with knobs in such a manner that the limit of elasticity of the respective sheet (2, 3) is exceeded during the knobbing process, resulting in the formation of fissures (4, 11). Said fissures substantially help to improve the acoustic absorption capacity of the insulating element produced according to the inventive method.
