Abstract: A bearing cage assembly (100) comprises a plurality of discrete bridge elements (206) disposed between adjacent rolling elements (1 12) and coupled between first and second axially spaced cage support wire rings (1 02, 1 04) which are appropriately tensioned. Spacers (1 10) are disposed between adjacent bridge elements and engage the bridge elements in a piloted engagement. The bridge elements maintain a separation between rolling elements, retain the rolling elements within the bearing assembly, and function as a lubrication reservoir for grease lubricated bearings. Profiled surfaces on the bridge elements position the bearing cage assembly on at least one axial end of the rolling elements.

  • Patent number: 8517846
Abstract: A sliding-type tripod constant velocity joint that includes needle units, each of which is able to prevent rolling elements from falling off in a state where the rolling elements are introduced in a cage, is provided. Each cage (60) of a constant velocity joint (1) forms circulation paths that are trajectories of circulating rolling elements (50), and is formed of a pair of first circulation path forming member (70) and second circulation path forming member (80) that are coupled to face each other so as to respectively support both axial ends of the rolling elements (50). Then, at least one of the circulation path forming members (70 (80)) has a window portion (75 (85)) that is open so as to be able to introduce the rolling elements (50) laterally with respect to a circulating direction into the circulation paths and a rib portion (76 (86)) that is formed so as to extend from a periphery of the window portion (75 (85)) in an introducing direction in which the rolling elements (50) are introduced.

  • Patent number: 8166657
Abstract: A steel retainer (3), which retains needle rollers (2), is formed from a steel plate containing 0.15 to 1.10% by mass of carbon. After being formed, the steel plate is subjected to induction heat treatment which includes induction hardening and induction tempering. Such heat treatment can be carried out efficiently in a short period of time, using compact treatment facilities, even in small-lot production. The retainer (3) thus formed is sufficiently resistant to wear and surface damage, and is high in fatigue strength and fracture strength as a whole.

  • Patent number: 7966730
Abstract: A constant velocity joint in the form of a counter-track joint. The circumferential length (L1) of the first cage windows for the balls in the first pairs of tracks is greater than the circumferential length (L2) of the second cage windows for the balls in the second pairs of tracks. This permits a method of assembly wherein first the first balls, one after the other, are mounted in first pairs of tracks which widen from the aperture end to the attaching end and wherein then the second balls, one after the other, are mounted in second pairs of tracks which widen from the attaching end to the aperture end. For mounting the second balls in the second pairs of tracks, only a small overarticulation angle is necessary, and thus a shorter circumferential length of the respective windows than there is required for mounting the first balls in the first pairs of tracks.

  • Patent number: 7900356
Abstract: A device is provided for assembling a tapered roller bearing, which allows even a tapered roller having a large taper angle to be easily assembled to a pocket of a cage. The tapered roller (35) is inserted into the pocket (33) with the larger-diameter side of the tapered roller (35) in the lead from the inner side of the cage (30) and moreover from the smaller-diameter annular portion side of the cage (30), by which the tapered rollers (35) are assembled to the cage (30).

Abstract: The invention relates to a bearing arrangement (1) comprising an at least partially planar bearing support (2) that has a supporting bore (5), and at least one bearing (6) which is connected to said bearing support (2). An external ring (7) of the bearing (6) is provided with a recess (14) for accommodating the bearing support (2). According to the invention, the axially internal end of the recess (14) has an undercut (15), the diameter (D1) of which in relation to a bearing axis (11) is smaller than a diameter (D2) formed by an axially extending section of the recess (14). A slotted ring-type holding element (16) which positively covers the bearing support (2) in a radial direction in at least one circumferential point is inserted into the undercut (15).

  • Patent number: 7571543
Abstract: A method of manufacturing a retainer for a roller bearing made of a metal plate and has a tubular main portion, pockets formed in the main portion intermittently concerning a circumferential direction and capable of retaining rollers rollably, and an outwardly oriented flange-like collar portion. An annular intermediate material is formed by die cutting the metal plate, and after a second intermediate material is formed by forming through holes in the intermediate material intermittently, a portion of the second intermediate material excluding a radially outer end portion is plastically deformed into a tubular shape. The portion plastically deformed tubular shape is formed as the main portion, a portion corresponding to the radially outer end portion of the second intermediate material is formed as the collar portion or a collar portion element for forming the collar portion, and portions corresponding to the through holes are formed as the pockets.

  • Publication number: 20060090344
Abstract: A roller bearing including a plurality of rollers which are provided between an outer circumferential surface of an inner member and an inner circumferential surface of an outer member; and a substantially cylindrical roller holder which has a plurality of pockets holding the plurality of rollers, respectively, such that each of the rollers is rotatable about an axis line thereof and which is rotatable around the inner member. A sign of a skew angle of each of the rollers is constant irrespective of how much the each roller is inclined relative to a corresponding one of the pockets in a circumferential direction of the roller holder.

  • Patent number: 6666585
Abstract: A unitized cage for cylindrical roller bearings wherein the inner raceway of the bearing configuration may be the rotating or stationary shaft component and the outer raceway of the bearing configuration may be the rotating or stationary housing component. Thus, a bearing configuration can be generated without the need for a separate inner or outer race having inner or outer raceways. The unitized cage comprises a cage nest having end face axial projections and a cage finger ring having fingers which engage the end face axial projections to lock the cage nest into position on the cage finger ring. A plurality of cylindrical rollers can be positioned within the cage pockets of the cage nest prior to the assembly of the cage nest with the cage finger ring to generate a cylindrical roller bearing.

  • Patent number: 6557257
Abstract: A method of reducing hard machining time, and correspondingly increasing hard machining tooling life, of a non plunging type constant velocity joint for use in reduced angle applications. The method comprises forming a recess having a larger formed radius in a portion of the ball track and cage track areas that is non-functional in low angle operations prior to heat treat hardening. The new process results in a significant reduction of approximately forty-five percent in the hard machining of the ball and cage track surfaces.
