  • Patent number: 11118557
Abstract: A turbine has a rotatable outer casing with an inlet and an outlet therein. A casing rotation control causes the casing to rotate about a central point thereof such that the inlet consistently faces an incoming flow of ambient fluid. The casing has two spaced-apart portions in shapes of oppositely-disposed concave arcs (also referred to as “deflector plates” of a same circle. In some embodiments, each concave arc of the casing forms a unitary structure with a respective convex arc, the two spaced-apart convex arcs lying on either side of the outlet. In some embodiments, each concave arc is connected to a respective second concave arc at an endpoint thereof, the second concave arcs being rotatable about the point of connection.

Abstract: Novel systems and methods are provided that rapidly separate particles from a liquid. In an embodiment, a small volume of liquid (such as a blood sample, or any other solution with a concentration of particles) is input into a flow device implemented as a unilateral channel. When activated by an acoustic energy source (such as an ultrasound pulse), gas-liquid interfaces naturally occurring between the liquid in the flow device and a plurality of gas-filled cavities that line the channel will oscillate and create stable cavitation streaming within a localized region of the surrounding liquid. These oscillations create micro-vortices that gently remove and trap particles and debris from the liquid and adjacent surfaces. Fluid and particle manipulation can thus be accomplished on a passive, disposable chip that is placed on top of an external acoustic transducer with a coupling medium.

Abstract: A fluid power generation device is configured to provide electric power generation using fluid action, and comprises multiple power generation mechanisms. Each power generation mechanism comprises: a casing that allows a fluid to pass through its internal space; and a power generation unit arranged within the casing, and configured to perform electric power generation using the fluid action. The casing is configured to generate vortexes in the vicinity of its fluid outlet. The multiple casings are arranged with spaces as intervals between them. Each casing generates vortexes in the vicinity of its fluid outlet. Furthermore, such an arrangement provides an interaction effect between the vortexes generated in the vicinity of the fluid outlets of the multipole casings arranged with the spaces as intervals between them. This provides a synergistic effect for accelerating the inner flow based on the interaction between the power generation mechanisms.
