The idler cams are connected to a locking bolt (102) by S-links (138, 140). Movement of the drive cam enables moving the locking bolt between extended and retracted positions.

  • Patent number: 5975592
Abstract: A lock assembly comprising a housing, a control mechanism, one pin or two pins supported by the housing for shifting movement of the pin or of the two pins in a direction transverse to direction of movement of the control mechanism between a locked position and an unlocked position and a spring for each pin for enhancing the shifting movement of the corresponding pin toward the unlocked position and for automatically returning the corresponding pin toward the locked position upon release of the control mechanism. When the control mechanism is pushed manually, the pressure which is exerted upon pushing the control means compresses the spring around the pin or two pins which each shifts in a direction transverse to direction of movement of the control mechanism between the locked position and the unlocked position. Meanwhile, shifting of the pin or of the two pins permits the sliding of a cut-out section of the control mechanism until the pin or pins strike against the cut-out sections of the control mechanism.

  • Patent number: 5935729
Abstract: A battery pack for an electronic device including a latch assembly comprising a latching member, a biasing member, and an actuator. The latching member is movable between an extended position and a retracted position. The biasing member urges the latching member to the extended position so that when the battery pack is mounted to the electronic device, the latching member prevents its removal. To remove the battery pack, an actuator is provided to engage the latching member and push it downwardly to a retracted position. During assembly of the battery pack, the latching member can be pushed down to a retracted position allowing the actuator to move to an assembly position. In this position, the actuator is engaged by a retaining member on the battery case to hold the latching member and actuator in place during assembly.

  • Patent number: 5778708
Abstract: A door locking mechanism is disclosed including a door locking member in communication with a lock-actuated bolt which selectively allows rotation of a rotatable actuator plate member. The rotating actuator plate member is attached to a rotatable handle and to a plurality of actuator bars which move locking bolts so as to selectively prevent opening of the door. The rotatable actuator plate member enables all of the actuators to be moved from a single location so that a plurality of cams, etc., are not needed to move locking bolts positioned about the perimeter of the door between open and locking positions. In an additional aspect of the invention, horizontally extending actuator bars are adjustably attached to elongate locking bars having a plurality of locking bolts attached thereto, so as to enable assembly of the locking structures of the door locking mechanism without assembly, and to enable interchangeability of parts.

  • Patent number: 5120094
Abstract: Locking apparatus for securing in a closed disposition a sliding door panel defined, in part, by a jamb-engaging stile which, when the panel is in a closed disposition, is received within a channel defined by frame members defining the jamb. The apparatus includes one or more locking bosses which are received within the channel defined by the frame members. The boss, or bosses, are recessed so that, when the panel is in an open disposition, they do not protrude out of the channel beyond the frame members which define the jamb. Further, the apparatus includes means carried by the jamb-engaging stile for capturing one or more of the locking bosses when the panel is in a closed disposition. Such capture apparatus precludes opening lateral movement of the door panel from its closed disposition.

  • Patent number: 4966422
Abstract: There is disclosed a latch mechanism for locking the drawers of items of furniture such as desks and file cabinets. The latch mechanism is manufactured of plastics using injection molding techniques. The mechanism includes an open sided housing having a oppositely directed pair of mounting flanges which extend from the opposite sides of the housing. A longitudinal slot is formed between the flange members and this slot slidably receives the latch member. The cavity of the housing receives a compression spring which protrudes from the open side of the cavity and is received in an aligned slot or through aperture of the latch member. The latch member has a forward and inclined ramp that is mounted opposite and adjacent to the upper cam post of a vertical slide member. The vertical slide member is received in a groove in a upright standard of the furniture, typically in a partition located between the center drawer and a vertically stacked set of lateral drawers of a desk.
