  • Patent number: 5280975
Abstract: A mechanism for locking a cover to a housing of medium and high speed laboratory centrifuges. The locking mechanism includes an axially moveable locking member which has at least one locking portion adapted to be moved in locking engagement with a locking hole of the cover. The axially moveable locking member is rotatably mounted in the housing and connected with a rotary drive. An advancing mechanism transforms the rotary movement of the locking member into an advancing movement thereof. Preferably said advancing mechanism includes a threaded portion provided on the locking member and in engagement with a projection provided on the housing. The locking member has a portion of reduced cross section which may pass through a slot into the locking hole when the cover is moved to its closed position.

  • Patent number: 5209168
Abstract: A security system for a metal cabinet door comprises a latch adapted to be locked by a lock operating the latching members of the door. These comprise upper and lower strip members each having a plurality of hooks each of which, when the door is closed and latched, is engaged in an opening formed in a locking profiled member attached to the cabinet and at least one rotating sector whose rotation axis is perpendicular to the plane of the door. When the door is closed and latched the sector(s) enter an opening in a longitudinal member attached to the cabinet on the same side as the hinge(s). The sector is operated in the unlatching direction by the latch through a cable and in the latching direction by a return spring.

  • Patent number: 5104161
Abstract: Fitting for a door, window or the like comprising locking elements provided with at least one operating rod allowing the actuation of a mechanism for locking the leaf in rotation, in various angular positions, with respect to the sash-frame. This mechanism is composed of at least a clamping element and an additional member, one of which is made integral with an extension of the operating rod and the other one with the sash-frame. The clamping element and the additional member of the actuation mechanism are located on the rotation axis of the leaf, each comprising slits intended for co-operating with each other when actuating the locking elements. The clamping element further comprising connecting members intended for making same integral with either the sash-frame or the operating rod and with respect to which it can move with a stroke of a length at least equal to the height of its slits.

  • Patent number: 5037147
Abstract: The access door of a chamber housing opening is secured releasably in closed position by a latching mechanism provided on each of the four edges of the door. Each latching mechanism includes a plurality of spaced apart wedges projecting outwardly from the edge of the door for releasable registry with a plurality of spaced apart wedges on a wedge member mounted on the chamber housing for movement by an hydraulic cylinder between a door opening position in which the wedges on the door register with spaces between the wedges on the wedge member, and a door latching position in which the wedges on the wedge member are moved by the hydraulic cylinder into sliding, wedging engagement with the wedges on the door, whereby to draw the door into sealing engagement with the chamber housing adjacent the periphery of the opening in the housing. An O-ring seal disposed about the periphery of the door is arranged to engage the chamber housing upon closure of the door, to seal the chamber for evacuation or pressurization.

  • Patent number: 5000497
Abstract: The improvement as in an electromagnetic door lock device. The device includes an electromagnet which is secured to the underside of the top of door frame, and an armature connected to the top of a door hinged in the frame. The armature moves between a resting unlocked down position and a locking position in which the armature extends up toward the electromagnet being attracted thereto. When in that attracted position, the armature is intercepted by one or more tab plates depending from one or both of the opposite sides of the electromagnet so that the door cannot be opened. Deenergizing the electromagnet causes the armature to fall down to the unlocked position. The improvement includes a protrusion from one or both of the opposite sides of the armature, which protrusion fits within a notch on the underside of the tab plate to lock these two parts together. The tab plate may have adjustment slots for aligning the notch and protrusion.

  • Patent number: 4924929
Abstract: In order to reduce heat transfer from one side of a folding fire door lead post assembly to the other side, the lead post assembly includes a central lead post which forms the leading edge of the assembly. In one embodiment of the invention, wing panels extend from the sides of the central lead post and the receiving recess for the door when in closed condition is adapted to receive the central lead post and adjacent portions of the wing panels so that no portion of the central lead post is open to a room on either side of the door when the door is in closed condition. Heat transfer is from one wing panel to the central lead post to the other wing panel rather than directly from the fire to the central lead post. In a second embodiment of the invention, lead post side extensions are secured to the central lead post with heat insulating material therebetween.

  • Patent number: 4395000
Abstract: A latch and lock mechanism for an aircraft cargo door assembly is disclosed. The mechanism is adapted to a cargo door assembly of the type having an outwardly opening, nonplug-type cargo ramp and an inwardly opening, plug-type cargo door hinged to opposite sides of a doorway so as to form a two-part closure member in coplanar alignment with the airplane fuselage when the door assembly is closed. The latch and lock mechanism preferably includes a plurality of latch units that secure the cargo ramp in its closed position. The latch units are connected through a cam-actuated interlock mechanism to the plug-type cargo door. The interlock mechanism is such that the cargo ramp latches can only be actuated when the cargo door is in an open position, and further such that the cargo door cannot be closed unless the cargo ramp latches are in a latched position.
