  • Publication number: 20120193936
Abstract: Elongated side rails for attachment to a sidewall of a truck cargo box as a portion of a tonneau cover assembly. Each assembly includes a flexible cover that can be operatively secured to side rails. One side rail includes a securing portion that can be operatively connected to the sidewall; an inclined portion extending from the securing portion, the inclined portion having first and second sides; a connecting member extending downwardly away from the inclined portion from a position located between the first and second sides; and a longitudinal portion extending from the connecting member opposite the inclined portion. To secure the cover to the side rails, hook fastener is preferably attached to loop fastener on the cover. One preferred side rail has a ridge to prevent premature engagement of the fasteners. Another preferred side rail has directional hook fastener to prevent premature engagement of the fasteners.

Abstract: A shield assembly is described for the cargo space of a transport vehicle wherein access to the cargo space is provided by a displaceable wall section mounted on a lower rail secured spaced from a lower side frame of the cargo space. The assembly comprises an elongated rectangular flexible seal guard having an elongated securable side edge section. The flexible seal guard has a width which is greater than a space defined between the rail and the lower side frame. The rail has a directional retention slot for immovably securing the securable side edge section of the flexible seal guard thereto whereby the flexible seal guard is supported for frictional engagement at an opposed free side edge against the lower side frame to substantially seal the space whereby to prevent foreign matter from entering into the cargo space.

Abstract: A tonneau system for a cargo box of a vehicle having a support frame connectable to the cargo box. A cover spans the support frame and is positionable between a tensioned position and an untensioned position. A pivot block is mounted to the support frame, while the cover is coupled to a rear bracket member. The rear bracket member carries the cover and pivotally engages the pivot block such that the rear bracket member rotates between a raised position and a lowered position. The rear bracket member can be automatically locked in the lowered position. A bow member couples the cover along a cross vehicle direction. The bow member or other member can operate to tension the cover in the cross vehicle direction.

  • Patent number: 7413234
Abstract: A relatively lightweight tarping system for use with trailers or other open top containers includes first and second spaced frame members and an elongated flexible member such as a cable or chain connected to and extending therebetween. A tarpaulin may be mounted thereon so that the frame members, flexible member and tarpaulin are pivotable between a covered position atop the open top container and an uncovered position. A four-bar linkage is preferably used in combination with a rotational drive mechanism to provide various advantages in rotating the tarpaulin assembly between the covered and uncovered positions. A width adjustment mechanism is provided to provide usage with trailers or other open top containers of different widths. An improved seal is provided between the tarpaulin and container.

Abstract: A soft top tonneau cover is formed from a plurality of hinged frame sections that are foldable between overlaying positions and extended positions. Camlock clamps are integrated into the frame so as to provide a stable, quick release latch to the walls of the bed with a minimum of spacial intrusion into the bed. The hinge between the frame sections has a double pivot so as to automatically tension the top when folded open. Strap clamps are integrated into the frame so as to permit the sections to be secured when folded closed.
