Abstract: A sliding roof and/or a sliding-lifting roof for motor vehicles in which an adjustment mechanism is provided that aligns the guide blocks or the mounting mechanism coupled to it in the closed or zero position of the cover of the roof. For this purpose, a link part connected to the cover is fixed in the zero position, for example, with the help of a front hold-down device, with respect to a guide rail in the lengthwise direction, preferably, by a positively locking connection while, near the mounting mechanism or the guide block there is provided a through-opening in the link part which is associated with, for example, a fitting recess on the mounting mechanism. With the help of an adjustment part, the fitting recess is aligned flush with the through-opening on the link part and, in doing so, the mounting mechanism or the guide block is aligned in the predetermined zero position relative to the cover or to the link part of same.

Abstract: A sun roof for vehicles, comprising a main part slidable beneath the roof panel to open or close an aperture, and a front part tiltable upwardly to impede direct entry of air into the front zone of this aperture. The front part is disposed in the closure position substantially at the same height as the main part. A single control cable at a lateral side of the sun roof actuates a slidable control body which engages the front part through a slidable auxiliary body. The control body is connected to the main part through a lost motion connection to allow the main part to remain stationary while the front part is being tilted.

Abstract: Sliding roof for vehicles having a cover which, in a closed position, covers a roof opening of a fixed roof surface, which cover is rearwardly slideable below or above the fixed roof surface. In the area of the front edge of the roof opening, there is a pivotably mounted wind deflector, which is tiltable into an upwardly extended position by sliding the cover back, and, by way of an actuating device, is tiltable back into a retracted position when the cover is moved forward. In addition to the elements of the actuating device, there are provided two locking elements, bilaterally attached to the wind deflector, against which, in the foremost sliding position of the cover, there is contact by hold down clamping elements, which are displaceable together with the cover.

  • Patent number: 4676546
Abstract: Vehicle roof with a roof opening that can be closed by a sliding cover, a framework surrounding the roof opening at least at the front and on the sides that forms a framed opening underneath the roof opening and a water channel that is defined by a protuberance in the framework, and with a wind deflector running parallel to the front edge of the roof opening. The wind deflector is held by at least one hinge located on the protuberance in the framework and can be swung out by spring power when the cover is pushed back and swung in when the cover is closed. The wind deflector, over substantially its full length, has an element with a first arm that is inclined upward and forward at an oblique angle in the swung-out position and a second arm that is angled down from its front end. The shaft of the hinge is located close to the rear end of the first arm. A part fastened permanently to the cover comes up against the top of the first arm of the wind deflector to swing the wind deflector.

Abstract: A controller is provided for vehicle sunroofs and the like, of the type having a retractable door or closure. The controller comprises two tracks mounted in a main frame portion of the sunroof, along opposite sides of the closure. Guides project laterally outward from the sides of the closure, and are matingly received in the tracks to slidingly support the closure for fore-to-aft translation between open and closed positions. A seal is located between the closure and the frame to form a weathertight seal therebetween. The guides include cams or eccentrics that are positioned in the tracks, and are shaped so that rotation of the eccentrics raises and lowers the closure in the main frame. When the eccentrics are rotated to a locked position, the closure is raised into abutting, compressive contact with the seal to sealingly close the opening. When the eccentrics are rotated into an unlocked position, the closure is lowered out of abutting contact with the seal to permit the closure to be freely opened.
