Abstract: A multi-functional, space-saving, and economical furniture item, made of wood, that converts shape and function to provide storage, seating, a desk-top workspace, and a countertop-height workspace. The furniture item is a bench that provides seating and has a flap that can be “actioned” (folded down) to provide a table for writing. The bench is integrally formed in a unitary structure that affords multimodal transformation and practicality for ease-of-use and desired functional range. By lifting the bench seat clockwise and lowering the backrest, the furniture item transforms into a countertop or a desktop workspace. Undoing the said steps transforms the countertop back to the bench.

To adjust the tray horizontally, a pivotable tray top pivots relative to and above a non-pivoting tray top. A track within the tray provides a guide for movement of the pivotable tray top. A scissor lift coupled to an adjustment mechanism including either a hand crank or electric motor, may raise and lower the tray from a retracted position to an extended position, and be fixed at any intermediary position. The tray may be equipped to be lifted to any intermediary position without a hand crank or electric motor in a low-cost, yet effective scissor mechanism.

A cover is provided for the recessed storage area and is rotatable upon a hinge to move the cover from a closed position to an open position to access the recessed storage area. Additional features include a fold out support panel that can rotate out from the storage bin toward a user after which the storage bin can be closed while the support panel extends from the storage bin. The support panel can be used to attach a notepad or and/or cellular telephone. In addition, the cover can be equipped with a light to illuminate the storage area in the bin.

A back section is attached to each support arm. Both the seat section and support arm are capable of being rotated relative to the base. Consequently, the bench seat may be positioned in a number of different positions to serve as either a seat or a support table.

Abstract: A foldable seat includes a seat member having a pair of generally upwardly opening elongate slots, and a backrest having a pair of hingeblades received with the slots. The hingeblades are pivotally connected to the seat member for rotation about a pivot axis. The hingeblades include bearing surfaces which engage stop surfaces located inside the slots on the seat member to prevent backward rotation of the backrest beyond the normal upright position. The pivot axis, bearing surfaces and stop surfaces are all located below the upper seating surface of the seat member and forward of the rear edge thereof, so that major pinch points are generally inaccessible, whereby the risk of injury on account of inadvertent placement of a finger between the bearing surfaces of the hingeblades and the stop surfaces of the seat member are substantially eliminated.

Preferably, the seat members are hingeably attached at a first end to the base board member and operably disposed in alignment with the raised rim of the upper portion of the support container assembly to provide structural support when in the seat members are in a closed position.

Abstract: An apparatus combining an overbed table, IV stand, walker, and optionally a wheeled chair is described. The IV stand portion of the apparatus can be raised for administering intravenous liquids or lowered for concealment. The table portion can be detachable so that the stand can be attached to a patient's bed. The apparatus contains a wide wheelbase for stability as a walker, yet furnishes easy maneuverability. The apparatus also contains mechanisms for attaching oxygen bottles, catheterization equipment, infusion pumps, and the like. An embodiment containing a wheeled chair functionality combines the table and wheeled chair functionalities so that one or the other can be selected for use. This multifunctional apparatus reduces the amount of occupied floor space in a patient's room and reduces the need for storage space for IV stands, walkers, wheeled chairs and the like.

The chair is slidable out of the recess so that it can be reoriented to a second orientation and then slid back into the recess so that it can support a child thereon adjacent the top panel. A propelling handle is pivotably mounted on the uppermost member and can be positioned in an upright propelling position or in a horizontal position in which it is closely juxtaposed to the uppermost member. A folding diaper changing table is affixed to the propelling handle, and thus can be used for changing diapers when the propelling handle is in a horizontal position.

Abstract: An aircraft seat convertible in situ for economy class and business class usage is described herein. In the case of a two-seater convertible seat, arm dividers are movably mounted on a seat frame for positioning thereon according to required widths of seating positions and to eliminate a middle seating position for business usage. Seat backs of two outer seating positions may be provided with mechanisms, such as slidable panels, which operate to vary the widths of the seat backs in the business class position. Alternatively, the seat backs are bodily movable on the seat frame and provided with hinge-mounted side bolsters of a compressible foam material which can be opened outwardly to increase the widths of the backs of the two outer seats with those backs moved to the two-seater business class configuration on the seat frame and the middle seating position eliminated.
