  • Patent number: 8991935
Abstract: A child safety seat utilizes a compression-type resilient shock absorber in which a soft-material resilient member serves to dampen shocks applied to the seat's harness assembly by undergoing compressive deformation in a way that prevents the harness safety belts from experiencing a “hard stop”. The resilient member (e.g., a foam rubber block, a gel-like substance, or a fluid-filled bladder) is disposed such that one portion is held against a rigid support (e.g., the backside surface of the seat's shell), and a second portion is operably coupled to a fixed end of a safety belt. The resilient shock absorber is oriented such that tension applied to the safety belt pulls the two end portions of the resilient member toward each other and against the rigid support, thereby causing the resilient member to compressively deform against the rigid support.

Abstract: A safety belt buffering device and a related vehicle safety seat are provided. The safety belt buffering device is applied to a shoulder belt. The safety belt buffering device includes a buffering component, a blocking component and an actuating component. The buffering component includes an accommodating space, and the accommodating space is formed through the buffering component. The blocking component is disposed inside the accommodating space. The actuating component is disposed on the shoulder belt. The shoulder belt movably passes through the accommodating space. The actuating component is driven to move into the accommodating space to contact the blocking component when the shoulder belt is pulled by external impact, and the blocking component is structurally deformed to reduce the external impact. The present invention can obviously decrease the impact energy transmitted from the vehicle safety seat to the passenger, so as to protect safety of the passenger.

Abstract: A child safety seat comprises a backrest, a seat portion connected with a lower end portion of the backrest, and a tether including a strap held with the child safety seat, and a resilient member assembled with the strap. The resilient member and the strap have different elasticity, and a tensioning of the strap causes deformation of the resilient member. When the vehicle is subject to a frontal collision or suddenly brakes, the resilient member can deform to cushion the retaining force applied by the tether, which can reduce the risk of injuries.

Abstract: A child vehicle safety seat may include a seat base, a first side frame, a second side frame, a strap and belt assembly, and a compressible piece. The seat base is pivotally coupled to the first and second side frames. The strap and belt assembly is coupled to the side frames and to the compressible piece. Upon an exerted force, the seat base swings about a pivot axis defined by its pivotal coupling to the side frames. The compressible piece is compressed by the strap and belt assembly and the swinging movement of the seat base is dampened.

  • Patent number: 8573694
Abstract: A method and apparatus for assembling restraint anchorage for use in child seat restraint anchorage by forming a portion of a bracket to engage a tubular rail that supports a plurality of latch wires. A portion of the bracket extends longitudinally along the tube. The extended portion is connected to the tube by mechanical engagement, preferably with a fastener. In a preferred embodiment, the fastener is formed by portions of the latch wire by cold heading shoulders on leg portions of the latch wires.

Abstract: Child safety seats are used for the safe transport of children in vehicles. The child safety seats known from prior art often offer only insufficient protection in the case of a side impact. It is therefore an object of the present invention to provide a child safety seat that improves the protective effect of the child safety seat in the case of a side impact. This object is solved by a child safety seat with side impact protection according to the invention. Such a child safety seat comprises at least one element absorbing and/or transmitting energy which is arranged and designed to be transferred from a rest position to a functioning position to absorb a laterally impacting energy in the functioning position.
