Patent number: 7753442Abstract: A base for fixing the safety seating system in a passenger car has an external guiding member that more than equatorially encompasses an internal guiding member for a direct spherical guiding of a removable seated newly born infant. The infant is seated with respect to the geometrical pivoting center and an overall mass axis of the rotating portions such that neck bending and head whip lashing are minimized during a vehicle crash. The encompassing spherical and direct guiding provides for a free impact aligned reorientation of the seated infant unimpeded by adjacent elements of the car that are eventually forced into contact during crash. The direct spherical guiding provides also for a lightweight construction of the rotating portions with low momentum of inertia and consequently high responsiveness of the safety seating system.Type: GrantFiled: June 6, 2006Date of Patent: July 13, 2010Assignee: Anecia LLCInventor: Janusz Liberkowski

The nipple (5) has a valve (6) to prevent the accidental outflow under low pressures of the air occupying the chamber (1) and to give way when receiving a high pressure thereby facilitating the outflow of the air. The chamber (1) is preferentially subdivided into several departments (2, 3 and 4) each of them having a nipple (5) for the outflow of the air. The chamber (1) and the valve (6) are arranged in the inside of the complementary side members (7) of the backrest (8) of the infant seat and in the complementary side members (9) of the headrest (10) of the backrest.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 18, 2008Publication date: October 23, 2008Applicant: Jane, S.A.Inventor: Manuel JANE SANTAMARIA

Publication number: 20080246316Abstract: A child restraint system is provided for detecting and indicating whether a vehicle seat belt is sufficiently tensioned to secure a child seat onto a seat of a vehicle and whether a child seat harness is sufficiently tensioned to restrain a child within the child seat. The child restraint system includes a vehicle seat belt tension sensor and status indicator and a child seat harness tension sensor and status indicator. The child restraint system further includes an occupant sensor for determining whether a child is seated within the child seat. If the occupant sensor determines that a child is seated within the child seat, the vehicle seat belt status indicator is disabled, thereby preventing the weight of the child from interfering with the proper installation of the child seat onto the seat of the vehicle by applying a downward force to the vehicle seat belt tension sensor.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 22, 2007Publication date: October 9, 2008Inventors: David Shaun Carine, Michael Hudswell, David Gardiner Downie

Publication number: 20080136224Abstract: An attachment assembly for securing a child safety seat to a mounting portion of a vehicle is provided. The attachment assembly may include a guide having a channel, and a metal strap positioned in the channel of the guide in a retracted configuration such that a free end of the metal strap is adjacent to a front face of the guide, a fixed end of the metal strap is secured to a side of the channel, and a body of the strap is bent along a radius so as to double back between the free end and the fixed end. When pulled in tension, the metal strap is configured to transition from the retracted configuration to an extended configuration, and the guide is configured to constrain the strap during this transition so that the strap rolls along the radius within the guide, thereby absorbing energy.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 8, 2006Publication date: June 12, 2008Inventors: Reddy Malapati, Chris O'Connor, Rodney Simon, Pardeep Kumar

Publication number: 20080136225Abstract: A child safety seat tether anchor for securing a child safety seat to a mounting portion of a vehicle is provided. The child safety seat tether anchor may comprise a metal strip configured to be coupled with the child safety seat, an engagement structure having a surface where the engagement structure is configured to be fixed to the mounting portion of the vehicle, and a plurality of pins extending from the surface of the engagement structure and positioned along a length of the metal strip. The metal strip is bent by the plurality of pins along a length of the metal strip. When pulled in tension, the metal strip is configured to slide while bending around the pins between a retracted configuration and an extended configuration, thereby absorbing energy.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 8, 2006Publication date: June 12, 2008Inventors: Mark Murphy, Reddy Malapati

Publication number: 20080136223Abstract: An energy-absorbing deformable structure to attach a child safety seat to a mounting portion of a vehicle comprises a bracket. The bracket includes a base configured to be coupled to the mounting portion of the vehicle, a metal strap positioned in the base such that a first end of the metal strap is configured to be free and coupled to the child safety seat, a second end of the metal strap is separably attached to the base, and a body of the metal strap is bent between the first end and the second end. When the metal strap is pulled in tension, the metal strap tears from the base, thereby absorbing energy.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 8, 2006Publication date: June 12, 2008Inventors: Mark Murphy, Reddy Malapati

Publication number: 20080079293Abstract: The invention as presently conceived discloses a unique system and method for an improved infant car seat having an integral extra transportation apparatus combining the functionality of a car seat with a stroller into one device. The apparatus generally resembles a conventional infant car seat but with an overhead handle that can be extracted from behind the headrest with a set of two folding legs extending downward and locking in place. Each extended leg has a pair of wheels that when used in conjunction with the handle allows the entire apparatus to serve as an infant stroller in a manner similar to a wheelbarrow. A third brace leg has a stabilizing rubber foot that extends down from behind the seat to allow the apparatus to safely stand unassisted. This novel apparatus and system will permit a care giver to remove the apparatus from a vehicle with the infant remaining in the seat, and by extending the legs into place, transform the apparatus into a stroller.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 28, 2007Publication date: April 3, 2008Inventors: Edward James Hedges, Suzanne Gutierrez-Hedges, Lisa Lynn Hubbard
