Abstract: A medical support system for medical professionals performing procedures on patients. That medical support system includes adjustable support arms adjacent a patient headrest. The support arms are padded, have concave support surfaces, can freely rotate and pivot, but can also be locked in position via a ball-joint mechanism inside a housing. The ball joint has a compression cap with a conically shaped opening that aligns with a ball that receives a rod that connects to a support arm. Turning the compression cap induces a state of snugness achieved by friction between the ball, the compression cap and the housing. Loosening the compression cap allows rotational and angular positioning of the support arms. The compression cap has a knurled outer surface to assist a medical professional using the medical support system.
Abstract: A trim cover for a vehicle head restraint includes a three dimensional sheet conforming to the shape of a head restraint system component and a slot having a first side and a second side. The trim cover also includes a two-way zipper closeout. The two-way zipper closeout includes a first strip having a first plurality of zipper teeth and a second strip having a second plurality of zipper teeth. The zipper closeout includes a first slider contacting the first and second plurality of teeth such that movement in a first direction closes the zipper closeout and movement in a second direction opens the zipper closeout. Finally, the zipper closeout also includes a second slider contacting the first and second plurality of teeth such that movement in the first direction opens the zipper closeout and movement in the second direction closes the zipper closeout.

Abstract: A clutch mechanism in which a pressure receiving member is attached to two side frames of a seat back of a vehicle seat so as to be rotatable about rotation axes extending in a widthwise direction and in which when the pressure receiving member is rotated by a pressing load of an passenger sitting on the vehicle seat, the pressing load is selectively transmitted to an operation bracket pivotally connected to the rotation axes such that the operation bracket is rotated in the same direction as the pressure receiving member. When the pressure receiving member receives a quick pressing load, the operation bracket rotates while being mechanically integrated with the pressure receiving member, so that the pressing load can be transmitted to the operation bracket. When the pressure receiving member receives a slow pressing load, the operation bracket does not rotate, and only the pressure receiving member rotates, so that the transmission of the pressing load can be blocked.
Abstract: A neck support apparatus for use with car seats and the like to prevent a child's head from swinging side to side and forward when the child is asleep in the seat. The apparatus comprises a base and a support pillow removably attached to the base. The base has a seat section and a back support riser that is attached to or integral with the seat section. The support pillow has a pillow body with a pair of neck support members extending outwardly from the front side of the pillow body to partially enclose the child's neck and support the child's head in the apparatus. Slots in the back support riser receive straps attached to the pillow body. A head engaging device can help hold the child's head in an upright position. The support pillow can have a character shape, such as a bear or the like.
Abstract: In the head rest apparatus, a core member is separately formed from a metal plate and a metal stay, wherein a fixing member is integrally formed on a first divided body of the core member and the fixing member mechanically engages the flat plate portion of the metal plate with the first divided body and fixes the flat plate portion to the first divided body. The flat plate position is tightly fixed to the first divided body. Since the stress can be absorbed only by the first divided body, generation of abnormal noise can be prevented without using any damper member and in addition, rattling in operation can be prevented as well.
Abstract: A head restraint for a seat includes a core support structure supporting a dual rate cushioning foam. The dual rate cushioning foam includes a dilatant material that changes from a first compression rate providing a first stiffness to a second compression rate providing a second stiffness in response to a strain rate in the dilatant material rising above a pre-defined limit. The first compression rate at the first stiffness provides a softer feel to the occupant for normal operation of the vehicle. The second compression rate at the second stiffness provides a stiffer resistance to resist the sudden rearward movement of the occupant's head in the event of a sudden rear impact.
