Abstract: A head/neck support for a vehicle seat comprises a cushioned head rest having a support frame which is mounted on a spindle attached to the upper end of a post projecting from the seat back. The spindle carries two spaced detents engageable with two members of the frame spaced along the spindle to lock the frame against rotation around the spindle, the head rest being released for adjustment by bodily moving the rest along the spindle against the action of a return spring to release the detents and then turning the rest to the required attitude and releasing it to allow the spring to return it along the spindle to re-engage the detents.

Abstract: A headrest for vehicles, especially motor vehicles, is disclosed which comprises a hollow upholstery support mounted for limited pivotal movement on a holder comprising two shanks secured to a vehicle backrest. Stop elements for limiting the pivotal movement are provided for each shank of the holder and abut against the front wall of the support on opposite sides of the pivotal axis of the support. The upholstery support in one embodiment comprises a pair of shells or front and rear support elements made of plastic and having different strength characteristics. The front support element is designed to absorb the forces of the stop elements and the rear support element is designed to be deformable to provide improved safety for passengers seated behind the headrest.

Abstract: The invention relates to a device for setting elements which are pivotable relative to each other, especially for setting the pivotable upholstery support of a headrest for vehicle seats, having at least two elements which are not movable in the direction of the axis of rotation which are movable relative to each other about the axis of rotation and at least one setting member which form-fittingly locks these elements in the desired rotational position.

Abstract: A padded headrest for the seat back of a motor vehicle includes a stirrup-shaped mounting body pivotally mounted on a horizontal support through vertical supports which are longitudinally adjustably connected to the mounting body and which are fastened in corresponding receiving parts at the seat back. The assembly consists of a device for securing the headrest body in each adjusted inclined position at the horizontal support and is characterized in that the stirrup-shaped mounting body of the headrest body is longitudinally movably guided in at least one helically arranged peripheral recess of a horizontal support having an at least semicircular cross-sectional profile and being attached to vertical supports in a manner preventing the horizontal support from pivoting.

Abstract: A vehicle seat having a back rest and a shoulder support pivotally connected thereto is disclosed. The back rest and shoulder support are formed as upholstery support shells with the shoulder support pivotably mounted to the upper portion of the back rest. The shoulder support shell has a bottom portion inclined forwardly from the back rest shell from the pivotal connection thereto and is provided with top and side edges which overlap the top and side edges of the back rest shell. An adjusting and setting mechanism is provided for rotating and setting the shoulder support in a selected rotational position relative to the back rest. The shoulder support also includes mounting elements for a head rest.

Abstract: The drawings illustrate an angularly adjustable head restraint assembly for use with the backrest of a vehicle seat. The assembly includes a post carried by the backrest, a headrest pivotally connected to the post and adapted to being manually pivotally moved from a horizontally oriented reclined attitude to a vertically oriented head support attitude, locking means for locking the headrest in the vertically oriented head support attitude, a cam with cooperating overcenter spring means for causing the cam to snap overcenter once it is provided forwardly from the head support attitude by the headrest to urge the locking means out of its locked relationship with the headrest and permit the headrest to be lowered toward the reclined attitude, and a projection formed on the locking means for contacting the cam and causing it to snap overcenter in the other direction just prior to the headrest attaining the reclined attitude into position for the next sequence.

Abstract: Disclosed is an articulated headrest for use with dental chairs and the like which can be quickly and easily converted from left hand to right hand operation. A simple clutch mechanism locks the headrest at any adjusted position. The mechanism for unlocking the clutch is a push button located at the side of the headrest. This mechanism is contained in a housing which can be easily removed and its components rearranged to move the push button from one side of the headrest to the other.

Abstract: A head support particularly for use with motor vehicle seats is disclosed. The head support comprises a padded support member which is mounted on a pair of support bars, the later being fixedly secured to the back of the vehicle seat. The padded support comprises a body having a U-shaped cross-section which is adjustably swivellingly connected to the support bars by means of molded connecting bodies which, in turn, are vertically adjustable along the support bars. The connecting bodies and adjusting and swiveling mechanisms are located interiorly of the padded support to provide maximum safety for the vehicle occupants.

Abstract: An angularly adjustable headrest for an operatory chair having means to quickly and effectively latch and unlatch the headrest pad relative to the supporting member incident to positioning the headrest member at a desired angle relative to the back of the chair.

Abstract: A work chair with an upholstered, adjustable seat and back which gives ergonomically correct support to the occupant's spine. The chair back comprises a back support and a shoulder support. The lower end of the back support is pivotally mounted in a rounded buttocks support at the rear of the chair seat. The shoulder support is pivotally mounted at the upper end of the back support. Both parts are contoured to correspond to the natural position of the spine. The inclinations of the back support and shoulder support are independently governed by a gas spring device and a torsion member respectively.

Abstract: A bearing support for a headrest in a motor vehicle which is pivotal within certain limits after overcoming a constantly effective friction force; a bearing socket which is rigidly connected with the lower area of the headrest member has an essentially triangularly shaped cross section and receives a bearing bolt that is being pressed by a wall subject to an elastic prestress against the remaining walls of the bearing socket.

Abstract: A chair includes a lower seat cushion member which is independently pivotable about a pivot on the chair frame and a rear back cushion member which is independently pivotable about a pivot on the chair frame. The rear and lower seat cushion members are not interconnected and are independently pivotable with respect to each other. The cushion members are preferably biased toward a neutral rest position with a weak biasing force so that the occupant of the chair can easily cause the cushions to pivot so as to assume the proper support position for the occupant.

Abstract: An adjustable headrest for use with the dental chairs and the like which can be tilted forward or backward with respect to the backrest of the chair. The headrest is adjusted with one hand by vertically pulling a lever to disengage a clutch mechanism while simultaneously moving the headrest to the selected inclination.

Abstract: A dental chair is disclosed which has an adjustable headrest incorporating a flush mounted adjustment mechanism allowing (1) adjustment about a central pivot, (2) vertical adjustment or (3) forward and rear adjustment. The dental chair also incorporates deflectable "wing" portions adjacent each of the arm supports which do not need adjustment and which allow the dentist more ready access to the patient.
