Abstract: A portable footrest device is provided, the footrest having a first and a second support portion, each of the first and second support portions having a first and second connector elements configured for releasable connection to a structure; and a first and a second foot portion coupled to said first and second support portions, wherein said first and second foot portions are configured to couple and decouple. A method for utilizing an enclosed space to rest a user's feet on a footrest, the foot rest having a foot portion is also provided.
Abstract: A foldable leg rest has a slide base, a first folding assembly, a second folding assembly, a first stage drive mechanism and a second stage drive mechanism. The slide base has a slide frame. The first folding assembly has a first frame pivotally connected to the slide frame. The second folding assembly has a second frame pivotally connected to the first frame. In use, the first stage drive mechanism is operated to drive the first frame to pivot relative to the slide frame and the second stage drive mechanism is operated to drive the second frame to pivot relative to the first frame. Therefore, the legs of a sitter can be stretched and placed on the folding assemblies so as to enhance comfort and minimize fatigue.
Abstract: In one embodiment now described, and according to one aspect of the invention. There is provided a leg rest mechanism 100. The leg rest mechanism is suitable for use with a seat pad 200 of a seat arrangement 300 in a passenger vehicle (not shown). The leg rest mechanism 100 comprises a support member 110 adapted for at least partially supporting a passenger's weight; and an extension arrangement 400. The extension arrangement 400 comprises a pair of horizontal support mechanisms 120 for supporting the support member 110, an adjustable support mechanism 160 and a drive arrangement 20.
Abstract: A chair convertible into a chaise lounge comprises: a stationary base structure having a front section and a rear section, a sitting unit including a seat portion and a backrest portion, wherein the seat portion is inclined with respect to a horizontal plane; and two foot-rests, each of which has a portion for resting the feet and a portion for resting on the floor. Each of the foot-rests is articulated to the front section of the base structure about a respective vertical axis of articulation and is rotatable substantially through 180° between an inoperative position and an operative position. In the inoperative position, each portion for resting the feet extends underneath the seat portion of the sitting unit, and in the operative position each portion for resting the feet extends forward beyond a front edge of the seat portion and has an inclination with respect to a horizontal plane opposite with respect to the inclination of the seat portion.
Abstract: A device for providing a dining support that is extendable from and retractable and concealable on furniture is disclosed. The device has a platform that is movable between a deployed position for supporting food and drinks, and a retracted position beneath the furniture. To move device from the retracted position to the deployed position, the platform is pulled from beneath the furniture and then elevated to a horizontal position. The height of the platform is vertically adjustable.
Abstract: A footrest for wheelchairs or the like comprises a foot plate (37) for the foot of a wheelchair patient, a supporting element for connection of the foot plate (37) to a wheelchair, and a bearing unit for supporting the foot plate (37) on the supporting element. The bearing unit, in turn, comprises a bearing body (36) that is in contact with the foot plate (37) and with the supporting element, a first bearing element (76) that pivotably connects the foot plate (37) to the bearing body (36), and a second bearing element (47) that pivotably connects the bearing body (36) to the supporting element.
Abstract: An adjustment device includes a lifting mechanism having a lifting arm articulated to a component of a stationary supporting structure for moving the component between two end positions. A rotary drive mechanism has an output member which is linked to the lifting arm. In order to completely, or at least partially, absorb a load moment exerted during movement of the component, at least one stationary support element is associated to the rotary drive mechanism.

Abstract: An improved wheelchair leg rest extension system. The system includes a ball screw assembly provided within a steel sleeve of the wheelchair frame, and actuated by an electric motor to raise and lower a leg rest, while protecting the ball screw assembly from damage, and reducing the unsightliness and potential for damage associated with external extension and retraction means.
