The seat has a circular mouth and rearward of the mouth is a frustoconical inner wall. At the bottom of the seat is a transverse surface. A tungsten carbide insert is brazed into the seat and the base of the insert is complementary in shape to the seat. A second annular insert may also be brazed into a complementary shaped annular seat that surrounds the centrally located seat.

  • Patent number: 6565282
Abstract: A tractor implement to grind surface pavement in removing paint lines is mounted on a tractor side and driven by a tractor power take-off. An implement first frame is supported rotatably on a rod extending orthogonally from the tractor. A rotatable tractor control mechanically connected to the implement first frame causes it to rotate on the rod, therein providing an implement adjustment in pitch and lifting and lowering the implement between a travel position and an operational position. The implement first frame connects pivotably to an implement second frame. A first hydraulic cylinder on the implement first frame parallel the rod connects to the implement second frame such that actuation of the first hydraulic cylinder causes the implement second frame to pivot about a second frame central axis therein providing the second frame an adjustment in roll. A grinding brush is mounted transversely to the implement second frame.

Abstract: A road cutting apparatus is detachable and connectable to a self-propelled front end loading machine. The cutting apparatus includes a rigid frame structure having a connecting section for attaching the frame structure to the front end loading machine and a planar mounting section. An engine including a power take off (PTO) is mounted to a top surface of the mounting section for driving the circular cutting apparatus, and a belt drive is attached to the PTO. The belt drive includes a driving pulley and a following pulley, and a belt disposed between the driving pulley and following pulley provides for transfer of torque therebetween. A driven shaft with a first end and a second end is mounted to the mounting section and attached to the following pulley at its first end, and a retainer blade is connected to the second end for coupling to a circular cutting blade. A cutting assembly is mounted on the mounting section which includes the circular cutting blade and a cooling system for cooling the cutting blade.

  • Patent number: 6176551
Abstract: A compact, easily transportable, surface preparation apparatus which includes a surface treatment unit having a cutter drum powered by its own power source. The apparatus includes transport/support wheels and a tow bar preferably interconnected at each end, of the surface treatment unit the rearward connection being a pivotal connection. The surface treatment unit has a longitudinal axis and a transverse axis, with the longitudinal axis perpendicular to the towing direction and the transverse axis coincident with the towing direction. The cutter drum has a rotational axis and is contained within the surface treatment unit and arranged such that the rotational axis is parallel to the longitudinal axis of the surface treatment unit. The cutter drum is off-set relative to the transverse axis of the surface treatment unit such that the cutter drum operates at one end of the surface treatment unit.
