Slot-type Cutter; E.g., Pavement Saw Patents (Class 299/39.3)
  • Patent number: 6945608
Abstract: A power takeoff assembly, a drive assembly, a saw and a kit for a saw include a drive plate and drive shaft, for example for mounting to a fly wheel, and a bell housing for mounting to an engine block and for supporting a sheave. The sheave rotates on bearings supported by a housing tube on the bell housing, and a coupler couples the drive shaft, which extends into the tube, to the sheave. Side loading and cyclical loading on the drive shaft are reduced, dimensions of the saw can be reduced and operation of the saw can be more reliable.

  • Patent number: 6935703
Abstract: A concrete cutting saw (10) includes a wheeled main frame (12) on which a blade support frame (14) is mounted for movement between upper idle and lower cutting positions. Low and high speed blade arbors (16, 18) are rotatably mounted on the blade support frame (14) and each has an arbor head (24, 26) for selectively and alternately mounting either a low or high speed rotary cutting blade without any blade interference with the other arbor head. A drive mechanism (32) rotatively drives the low and high speed blade arbors (16, 18) at low and high speeds such that concrete cutting can be performed at the best rotational speed for the particular job cutting to be performed.

  • Patent number: 6764139
Abstract: A rugged demolition system, and method for its use, for pulling up horizontal structures such as concrete or asphalt and breaking them into pieces, pulling over and breaking up vertical structures such as retaining walls and house/building walls, pulling up vertically extending objects from the ground such as tree roots, and breaking up hard or compacted surfaces such as dirt for easier grading. The system has a spear mounted horizontally to the top of a downwardly curving pry hook assembly, a digging tooth and optional side hooks connected to the pry hook assembly, and the pry hook assembly optionally secured to a tubular support member depending perpendicularly from a plate. Although any position-controlling vehicle can be employed to cause the needed vertical, horizontal, and rotational movement of the plate during system use, the plate is configured for attachment to the standard mount of a skid steer loader.

  • Patent number: 6592289
Abstract: To make a concrete roadway; a continuous section of concrete is poured and cut at an angle of between 5 degrees and 45 degrees downwardly in the direction of traffic flow, to form an angled cut with an overlying surface that can be pressed downwardly by a vehicle to reduce movement of the concrete with respect to the sections on either side of a joint in the pavement. With this cut, vehicles will press a top layer downwardly against a bottom layer. A rotary saw blade mounted at an angle to the roadway is used to cut the concrete.

  • Patent number: 6390086
Abstract: A cured-concrete-cutting saw which is sufficiently mobile as facilitates its transport to a work site located within a building, and between work sites within a building, for example, and which is useful in cutting block-out grooves for expansion joints between adjacent sides of adjacent concrete slabs and/or troughs in the surface of such slabs. The saw includes a housing, a blade assembly comprising a plurality of circular blades disposed in spaced apart parallel relationship to one another on the outboard end of a driven shaft that is mounted on the bottom of the housing. A motor provides power for rotation of the shaft and its blade assembly. Optionally, the motor provides power for propelling the saw over the top surface of a concrete slab. A mechanism is provided for operator adjustment of the depth of cut of the blades of the blade assembly from a position adjacent the aft end of the saw.

  • Patent number: 6364419
Abstract: An assembly is provided for excavating cavities in a road surface for a variety of purposes, among them, the formation of rumble strips, the installation of light reflective road markers, the milling of potholes, boring of holes for various purposes and the like. The system is used in combination with a vehicle having a motor powered vertically movable rear lift gate which in use defines a vertically displaceable substantially horizontal platform. A cutting apparatus is secured to the upward facing surface of the lift gate with the actual cutting portion being mounted on a rotatable drive shaft extending laterally of the gate, such that the cutting portion projects at least partially below the bottom surface of the lift gate, whereby with the gate in a lowered position, the cutting portion can engage the surface of the road on which the vehicle resides. A motor is secured to the upper surface of the gate powers the drive shaft.
