Abstract: Disclosed herein embodiments for a writing instrument operable to spin around its lateral axis while held on opposite sites. An embodiment includes a barrel, a first bearing coupled to an interior side of the barrel and a second bearing coupled to an interior opposite side of the barrel. A first stub protrudes from a side of the barrel, the stub being in contact with the bearing so as to allow the stub to spin around a lateral axis of the barrel, the lateral axis comprising an axis perpendicular to a length of the barrel. A second stub protrudes from an opposite side of the barrel, the second stub being in contact with the second bearing so as to allow the second stub to spin around the lateral axis of the barrel.

  • Patent number: 10279489
Abstract: The present invention provides a cutter knife, which even if made with only the metal parts, smoothness of sliding operation of the blade is not degraded in time, even without lubricating oil nor friction resistant coating, A slider of the cutter knife carries rolling member, which is made rolling contact with the outer surface of the cutter knife. Further, the slider has a protrusion which extends into the cutter knife body and is engaged into a hole formed on the blade. Since an external force applied onto the slider is received by the rolling member, the slider can be operated smoothly. Besides, the height of the protrusion is determined, such that the protrusion does not touch the inner surface of the cutter knife. Thus, the protrusion tip never interfere with the inner surface of the cutter knife, thereby the sliding operation of the slider would not be prevented.

Abstract: A utility knife includes a blade holder slidably connected to the handle. A blade lock pivotally connects to the blade holder for movement relative to the blade holder about a blade lock axis between a locked position and a released position. The blade lock axis forms an acute angle ? with a lateral direction of the knife so that a surface of the blade lock that is configured to engage the utility blade moves both laterally and vertically as the blade lock moves between its locked and released positions. A blade release trigger is conveniently disposed well rearwardly of a front of the handle. The knife includes a sealed blade storage compartment with a manually openable cover. A seal disposed between the compartment and cover discourages water and/or debris from getting into the compartment when the cover is closed.

Abstract: A surgical scalpel handle assembly system and method that requires a surgeon to actively perform a verification process known as a “time out” verification process but specifically requires sequentially moving a series of actuator knobs on a scalpel handle upon affirming each criterion embedded in the scalpel handle. The required sequential confirmation of each criterion unlocks and ejects a blade holder from a scalpel handle to a position fully engaged and ready for blade attachment, surgery and in cutting position. The assembly system and method includes exposed visual indicia on the handle that indicates green exposed visual indices upon affirming verification of “time out” criteria and thus triggering the deployment of a fully exposed, engaged, and in a ready for surgery for blade attachment in handle.

Abstract: A circular cutter contains: a connection assembly having a first extension and a first fixing head. The first fixing head has a locking hole. The first extension has a cavity, a first groove, and a second groove. The cavity accommodates a protection assembly which has a second extension and a second fixing head, wherein the second extension has a projection and a flexible deformation section connecting with the projection, the flexible deformation section deforms, and the projection retains in the second groove of the connection assembly. An elongated section is defined between the flexible deformation section and the second fixing head and is fixed in the first groove, the second fixing head has a first orifice corresponding to the locking hole of the connection assembly, such that a fixing assembly is rotatably connected with a cutting blade and is fixed in the locking hole.

The tube has a control slot and two capped ends with blade extension openings, one major and one minor. The unitary structure has a major seam ripping blade and a minor seam ripping blade, each carried by a support. Each blade projects through the corresponding cap opening. One support is attached to a leaf spring cantilevered at the other end. The spring carries a control button which projects through and moves within the slot and a locking pin which extends beyond the spring. Depressions in the tube engage and dis-engage with the locking pin as the button moves and is pressed.
