Scrapers Patents (Class 30/169)
  • Patent number: 5781957
Abstract: An ice scraper for use in removing frost and ice from vehicle windows. The ice scraper is formed from a hard plastic material into a circular disk with an easily gripped handle attached to its top. The body of the ice scraper is a concavo-convex disk with a circumferential edge that joins with the top surface of the disk to form a sharp cutting edge. A plurality of inclined ridges are formed on the cutting edge at regular spaced intervals; these ridges assist in breaking up ice as it is being scraped from a surface. The handle is integrally attached to the top of the disk. A plurality of finger receiving indentations are formed in the handle to allow the ice scraper to be gripped securely, with little effort.

  • Patent number: 5540623
Abstract: An improved bowler's tape tool includes a curved tool portion with an enlarged handle portion. A knife edge is formed at one end of the curved tool portion. The knife edge is smaller than the curved tool in both radial thickness and circumferential extent. The knife edge can be placed behind the tape in a bowler's thumb hole for removal of the tape. The curved tool is utilized to apply new tape within the thumb hole. The handle facilitates easy gripping and movement of the tool to either apply or remove the tape. In other aspects of this invention, the handle portion extends radially outwardly for a greater distance then the curved tool portion. This ensures that the user is able to properly control the curved tool portion and apply the required forces for application or removal of the tape. Further, the curved tool portion is preferably formed with a radius of curvature that is smaller than the radius of curvature of the thumb hole such that the tool can be easily moved within the thumb hole.

  • Patent number: 5359776
Abstract: A device is provided for restoring the cleaning properties of worn vehicle windshield wiper blades. A notch in the body of the hand-held device accepts the working edge of the windshield wiper blade. A sharp steel blade recessed in the notch is thus placed in transverse contact with the working edge of the windshield wiper blade. As the device is drawn along the length of the windshield wiper blade, wiper blade material is removed as needed to restore its original sharp cross-section and smoothness, and hence, its cleaning ability.

  • Patent number: 5337442
Abstract: A new and improved hand-held scraper apparatus is disclosed for scraping a surface at a plurality of predetermined scraping angles. The apparatus includes a blade support, and the apparatus is used by an operator for scraping a surface with a push-pull scraping motion parallel to the longitudinal axis of the blade support. More specifically, the apparatus includes a rigid handle, a rigid blade support connected to the handle, and a plurality of non-adjustable, blade-receiving slots located in the blade support and arranged at predetermined increments along the longitudinal axis. Each of the blade-receiving slots is oriented at a respective predetermined slant angle with respect to the longitudinal axis. The slant angles are in a range from ninety degrees to zero degrees. A blade is inserted into a respective blade-receiving slot, and, in use, the blade forms a respective scraping angle with the surface that is scraped. The respective scraping angle is supplementary to the respective slant angle.

Abstract: A scraper having a body portion with a front edge and a cover portion slidable relative to the body portion. The blade is received in the body portion with its cutting edge extending beyond the front edge of the body portion. The cover portion is movable relative to the body portion from a retracted position exposing the blade cutting edge to an extended position overlying the blade cutting edge. The cover portion is held in its retracted and/or its extended positions by locking mechanisms on the cover portion and on the body portion which cooperate with each other to hold the cover in its retracted and/or extended positions.

  • Patent number: 5313931
Abstract: A one hand coating stripping device and a method of stripping coating in which operator required control of the angle of flame impingement, flame intensity, speed of movement and removal of stripped material is reduced to the single operator mandated parameter of control of speed of movement of a stripping device which automatically orients the center line of the flame at the most effective angle of impingement and the scraper blade at the optimum angle of attack following a single adjustment of a gas-air mixture compatible with the fixed and constant angles of impingement and attack, the stripping action being carried out by the use of only one hand of an operator.

  • Patent number: 5301429
Abstract: A powered tool removes moldings or other mounted item without imparting damage to the surface being worked upon. The tool has a blade affixed to a handle. The handle and blade are interdigitated so as to form a flat surface along the bottom of the tool. This smooth, flat surface allows the tool to be deployed upon the surface and the blade then slid underneath the molding, such that, by a pneumatic force or other power supplied thereto, the tool easily lifts the molding away from the surface. The handle of the tool has a gripping portion and blade-engaging portion, such that the tool can be comfortably gripped to effect the removal of the molding. The damage to the surface is eliminated when using the present tool, in part, by the formation of the blade of plastic.
