Reciprocating Blade Patents (Class 30/241)
  • Patent number: 4026028
Abstract: A lightweight cable cutter is fluid pressure operated and effects a shearing of the cable by two opposed blades. A dielectric shroud covers the blades and during operation, a part of the shroud moves to expose one of the blades. The blades are configured to capture the cable periphery.

  • Patent number: 4018228
Abstract: A surgical punch instrument having an elongated, hollow sleeve with an elongated rod sliding therein and extending through one end of the hollow sleeve. The elongated rod has a narrowed end portion and fixed cylindrical blade attached thereto while the open end of the hollow sleeve has a hollow, cylindrical blade removably attached thereto. The sliding rod may be actuated by a handle attached thereto and extending through the elongated sleeve to pull the blade on the end of the rod into the hollow blade in the hollow sleeve thereby shearing or punching an opening in tissue therebetween.

  • Patent number: 4006527
Abstract: Large metallic structures such as vessels, railroad cars or the like are salvaged by disintegrating the structures into small, readily handled pieces of scrap metal for shipment of the pieces to a steel mill or the like. A portable shear is provided which comprises a tubular female shear member having a first arcuate cutting edge and a cylindrical male shear element which defines a second, cooperating cutting edge and which reciprocates within the tubular member. With the cutting edges in their spaced-apart positions the shear is placed over an edge of the structure and power means is actuated to move the cutting edges against each other and to thereby sever a relatively small piece of scrap metal from the structure. Thereafter, the cutting edges are retracted, the shear is relocated to another, e.g. adjacent portion of the structure and another piece of scrap metal is severed.

  • Patent number: 3988827
Abstract: A small size, portable cutter of steel or other metallic rods or wires including a slide arm having a blade mounted at an outer end, a lever connected with an inner end of the slide arm, and an eccentric cam member rotated from a motor and having a whole cam circumference inscribed with an end section of the lever to form a great contact area for transmitting the driving force to the slide arm which thereby protrudes outwardly the blade to cut a metallic rod or wire in cooperation with a stationary blade fixedly mounted on the body frame.

  • Patent number: 3988829
Abstract: A portable housing encloses a source of power which provides rotational motion. Means for converting the rotational motion to a reciprocal motion supports a punch which is reciprocated with respect to the housing along a particular surface of a first die member. A second die member is adapted to be disposed over the punch to form a die channel with the particular surface and to provide a cutting surface against which the sheet metal can be cut by the punch. Stripper means is provided to extend on the opposite side of the sheet metal from the cutting surface to maintain the sheet metal in a substantially contiguous relationship with the cutting surface of the second die member.

  • Patent number: 3945092
Abstract: A knot cincher mounted on a skidder has a quick-releasable cable clamp for holding an end portion of a stiff cable from a winch having a loose knot between the clamp and the winch. The winch is operated to tighten the cable to cinch the knot. A cable shear adjacent the clamp can be actuated to trim the end of the cable if necessary. A guard mounted adjacent the clamp protects the clamp.

  • Patent number: 3942250
Abstract: An electric hand nibbling machine having means for connecting a movable blade member with a rotary driving means transmitting a force from said rotary driving means in the axial direction of said movable blade member while allowing rotation of said movable blade member on its axis and having a sufficient clearance between the fixtures of the movable blade member and a confronting fixed blade member for free and exact operation for an angular material to be cut. This invention relates to an electric hand nibbling machine for shearing sheet iron, synthetic resin sheet or the like by nibbling operation, and more particularly to an electric hand nibbling machine appropriately adapted to cut a so-called keystone-plate or deck-plate used as a material for a ceiling or floor. As shown in FIGS. 5A and 5B, one type of nibbling machine effects shearing of a material in a pushing stroke of its movable blade member b which is adapted to move reciprocatively relative to its fixed blade member f (as shown in FIG.
