Abstract: Knot placement devices and methods can improve the ease for a user and/or success of ejecting a knot having a knot body and a plug, cutting suture and/or releasing the cut suture. The knot placement device can have an incremental rotational feature to cut the suture. The knot placement device can include first and second actuators configured for forming and ejecting a knot. The second actuator can be reversed in its position to release suture(s) caught within the device.

Abstract: A candle wick extractor, for use with a candle having a candle wick that terminates at, proximate to, or below the top surface of a candle's wax, comprised of a rigid ergonomic handle and a tubular extension having a radial cutter on the distal end thereof. The handle is comprised of a first portion having a hand grip that is ergonomically shaped for a user to grasp, and a second portion having the tubular extension and a cutter supported longitudinally therefrom. The tubular extension is generally a hollow body having a first end and a second end. The first end is attached to a portion of the handle, whereby the central bore of the tubular extension is accessible from the top of the handle. The second end of the tubular extension supports a cutter and is adapted to be inserted longitudinally into the top wax surface of the candle with the central bore positioned over the wick.

Abstract: A peeler, preferably for fruits and vegetables, includes a handle and a blade attached to the handle for pivotal movement about a long axis extending from the handle through the blade. A knob is attached to the blade and is grippable by a user to control the pivotal movement of the blade with respect to the handle.

Abstract: A bone or tissue-cutting instrument for use with a manual handle or with a powered surgical tool includes an elongated shaft and a cutting head portion of a distal end of the shaft. The cutting head portion includes an annular arcuate blade located at the distal-most end of the cutting head portion for cutting or shaving adjacent tissue or bone. The cutting head portion may also include a distal opening defined by the arcuate blade and a proximal opening with a central passage therebetween for collecting and transferring cut bone or tissue cut by the arcuate blade.

Abstract: A food slicer includes a frame for supporting a landing and a runway, which is movable relative to the landing. A cutting blade is secured on an upstream end of the landing. A separate cutting knife is moveably connected to the frame. An adjustment mechanism is connected to the frame to adjust an offset between the cutting blade and the runway. The adjustment mechanism includes first and second guide tracks provided on respective first and second movable cam plates, and a gear mechanism for moving the first and second cam plates along a length direction of the food slicer.

Abstract: A hand held hammer includes a handle incorporating a series of outwardly extending pegs providing gripping power between the user's hands and the handle. In some embodiments, the pegs are spaced far enough part to make it overly painful to swing the hammer bare handed. In some embodiments, the cumulative surface area of the pegs occupy less than 8% of the surface area of the handle. The pegs may be embedded in a plastic handle, captivated to the exterior of a conventional handle or may comprise an integral part of a plastic handle.

Abstract: A tool for cutting a tie wrap bound about a wire bundle. The tool includes a body portion having a generally disc-shaped cutter and cutting edge. A shield covers one side of the cutter and defines first and second shield slots in communication with the cutting edge. A housing pivotally connected to the body portion covers the other side of the cutter and defines first and second housing slots that communicate with the cutting edge. The housing pivots between first, second, and third positions. In the first position, the first housing slot communicates with the first shield slot to expose the cutting edge for cutting purposes. In the second position, the first housing slot is out of communication with the first shield slot, thereby covering the cutting edge. And, in the third position, the second housing slot communicates with the second shield slot to expose the cutting edge.

The blade is recessed relative to the opening of a channel or slot that receives the edge of a work piece or object to be cut. Abstract: A cutter includes a main body and a cutting unit. The main body is lengthwise defined to have a dispensing section, a holding section and a storage section in sequence. The holding section is gradually contracted toward two ends and defined to be a stop portion, and the storage section is bored with a through hole. The cutting section has one side formed with a pointed end and another side provided with a cutting edge. The main body is integrally covered on the cutting unit, leaving the pointed end and the cutting edge exposed and letting the pointed end located at a central upper edge of the dispensing section. By so designing, the cutter of this invention can easily cut off and remove various kinds of packaging members, able to elevate efficiency of removing packaging members from a packing box and integral in functional design.

Abstract: A bag neck sealer includes a base. The base includes an installation wheel, a rotary wheel, a press plate, a movable blade unit and a fixed blade unit. The fixed blade unit has a seat. The seat includes a fixed blade and a protective piece thereon. The protective piece is connected with an elastic member to be against one side of the fixed blade opposite to the seat to shield the edge of the fixed blade. Therefore, when the user operates the bag neck sealer, the user's fingers can be protected from the fixed blade through the protective piece, preventing the fingers from being hurt so as to enhance the safety of the bag neck sealer.

The cutting tool has a cutting member that moves within the cutting passageway in the housing. The catheter is positioned within a catheter passageway in the housing. The cutting passageway transacts the catheter passageway so that a blade on the cutting member crosses the catheter passageway and cuts through the width of the catheter to form a cut end on the catheter.

The housing support is coupled to the handle and supports the housing in the blade-securing and blade-releasing conditions. Abstract: Method and apparatus for cutting and terminating POF cable with error prevention. The apparatus comprises a hand tool with a blade supporting top bar linked to a bottom bar. The bottom bar comprises two aligned rows of holes perpendicular to the blade and opposite each other with a space between the rows for providing the blade the movement space needed for the cutting and terminating POF cable when at least one of the top bar and the bottom bar is pressed against the other.

Abstract: A tool for use in cutting a tie wrap that is bound about at least one wire and a method of operating the tool. The tool includes a housing having a first side and a second side, wherein the first side and the second side are coupled together to define a cavity. The housing further includes a groove formed in the first side and in the second side, wherein the groove is in flow communication with the cavity. A blade is coupled to the first side and positioned with the cavity, wherein the blade includes a cutting surface partially extending into the groove. Abstract: The present invention relates to a portable panel cutter for cutting and tailoring a plate material such as a sandwich panel which is formed by overlapping a metal plate material at both side surfaces of an insulating material. The portable panel cutter includes: a cutting blade (10); a pulling means (20) for pulling the cutting blade; and a driving means (60) for driving the pulling means (20). The cutting blade is additionally provided with a cutting blade section (14), which is detachably coupled with the cutting blade. Therefore, it is possible to repair or partially substitute the cutting blade section in the case of the abrasion or breakage of the cutting blade section, thereby maximizing economic and cutting efficiencies. In addition, a general purpose drill is mounted and used as the driving means instead of a motor, thereby exhibiting superior portability.

Abstract: A retaining and cutting device for positioning a leading edge of material at one end of a roll and for puncturing and severing the material a pre-determined distance from the leading edge after removing from the roll, the retaining device comprising elongated jaw members pivotally connected together, a closure member normally urging the jaw members together, and a cutter along one edge of at least one of the jaw members. Extensions of the jaw members are manually grasped to urge the jaw members into an open position for insertion of the next leading edge of material therebetween. The device may also be utilized as a cutting tool for opening sealed boxes and the like.

Abstract: In accordance with a preferred embodiment of the present disclosure, a wire bundle wrap cutter is provided for cutting wire bundle wraps. The wire bundle wrap cutter generally comprises a shaft with a cutting end, and a handle end, a cutting head perpendicular to the cutting end, and a handle with a trigger at the handle end. The cutting head defines a channel between a tongue and a blade enclosure. There is a cutting blade disposed in a slot in the blade enclosure which is movable from an enclosed position wherein the cutting edge is inside the blade enclosure to an activated position wherein the cutting edge is moved toward the tongue portion to cut a wire bundle wrap placed in the U-shaped channel.

Abstract: Apparatus and methods for cutting through a layer of material. Some embodiments pertain to the removal of an orthopedic cast in a manner that is quiet and generates little or no particulate matter. In yet other embodiments there are a pair of toothed wheels that press down and penetrate into the cast and then split the cast by moving it past a sharp edge. In some embodiments the cutting head is reversible for the cutting of material in either of two opposite directions.

A detachable cutting head includes a body with a cavity having a pair of opposing cavity openings, and further includes a channel to receive structural material workpieces. A cutting plate is slidably disposed in the cavity. The cutting head is selectably coupled to the handles and the cutting plate moves slidably in the body as the handles are pivoted, cutting a structural material workpiece inserted into the channel of the body, a cut portion of the inserted structural material workpiece being ejectable through the first cavity opening.

Abstract: A cutting tool comprising a main body, a blade shield, a support arm and a circular blade. The main body includes a first guide surface along an edge of the main body and a first blade slot recessed in the main body and opening to the first guide surface. The blade shield has a second guide surface extending generally parallel to and in spaced relation to the first guide surface to define a gap therebetween, with the blade shield also having a second blade slot recessed in the blade shield and opening to the second guide surface. The support arm is secured to the main body and the blade shield to hold the main body and the blade shield in spaced relation. The circular blade is removably secured in the first blade slot and extends through the gap into the second blade slot.

Abstract: An improved hand-held cutting tool includes a first double-sided handle member having a front open cavity for receiving an anvil member. A second double-sided handle member having an upper open cavity for receiving a biased auxiliary handle therein and a front open cavity for receiving a blade holder therein. The first and second handle members are pivoted between a first open work piece placement position and a second open blade replacement position. The first open position allows a work piece to be placed on the anvil member to be cut and the second open position allows access to the blade holder for blade replacement without using tools. The auxiliary handle is biased out of the upper open cavity in the first open position to allow a user to grasp the auxiliary handle and the first handle member with one hand to easily achieve an initial cutting operation.

Abstract: A kitchen appliance for cutting cuttable material such as vegetables, fruit, etc., with a main body. The appliance comprises a guide surface on which the cuttable material can be moved to and fro, and a blade which, for cutting, is arranged offset in relation to the guide surface so that a piece is cut off from a cuttable material moved on the guide surface in the guide direction toward the blade. The offset between the blade and the guide surface determines the cutting thickness. The appliance further comprises an exchangeable insert for modifying the cutting thickness.

Abstract: A tool for scraping, grinding, smoothing, machining or otherwise finishing a weld joint between two wire electrodes, such as those used in gas metal arc welding (GMAW) systems. When two wire electrode ends are coaxially joined together by a process such as butt welding, it creates a weld joint that can jam a GMAW welding gun or other device with tight dimensional tolerances. The tool described herein may be used to finish such a weld joint so that a relatively uniform cross-sectional shape and/or size is produced across the weld joint, thus, making it less likely to jam the welding gun. According to an exemplary embodiment, the tool is designed to fit over two wire electrodes connected by a weld joint, and generally includes a housing assembly and a cutting device.

Abstract: A tool for cleaving a plastic optical fiber has a body with a cleaving aperture at the insertion face of the body and through which the termination end section of the plastic optical fiber is inserted and in which an operative section is positioned upon inserting the plastic optical fiber into the tool. A cutting blade has a cutting edge and is moveable along a cutting path between a first operative position at which the cutting edge is spaced from the cleaving axis and a second operative position at which the cutting edge intersects the cleaving axis to cleave the plastic optical fiber to create an optical finish on an end surface of the operative section of the plastic optical fiber. A clearance region is located at the termination face of the body and generally aligned with the cleaving aperture and in which the termination end section may deflect upon engagement of the cutting blade with the plastic optical fiber.

Abstract: A system for opening encased articles has a cutting apparatus that includes a channel formed from spaced-apart parallel walls. A cutting member having a cutting edge extends from one wall into the channel. A protrusion disposed in the channel at least partially overlaps and at least partially obstructs the cutting member. The channel is adapted for receiving the flanged edge of the article and the protrusion is displaceable to expose the cutting edge of the cutting member. A system further has the cutting apparatus juxtaposed with a container for storing at least one encased article.

Abstract: A pruning hook includes an extension shank, a fixed blade mounted on a first end of the extension shank, a movable blade pivotally connected with the fixed blade, a driving cord connected with the movable blade to drive the movable blade relative to the fixed blade, a control member movably mounted on the extension shank and connected with the driving cord to drive the driving cord, and a positioning device mounted on the control member and detachably locked onto the extension shank to releasably lock the control member onto the extension shank. Thus, by provision of the positioning device, the movable blade and the fixed blade are disposed at a closed state when not in use to prevent the movable blade and the fixed blade from hurting a person.

Abstract: A food slicer having a blade is disclosed having a runway for supporting food prior to cutting by the blade and a landing for supporting the blade and the food after being cut. The runway and landing are adjustable for selecting a thickness of a food slice. The runway and landing are simultaneously adjusted, by a single mechanism, so that the blade and runway are maintained generally parallel with respect to each other. The adjusting mechanism includes a plurality of rotatable cam portions that engage with respective portions on the runway and landing so that each of the runway and landing may be oppositely pivoted around an end to maintain the parallel relationship. The food slicer also includes on-board storage for inserts, such as julienning or cubing inserts. The storage is located on a bottom of the runway, which is pivoted upward for storage.

Abstract: A small hand-held tool has a concavely open, center-symmetric, cutting edge at a forward end. To cut an elongate object such as a woody weed stem in a garden, the cutting edge is forcibly applied, preferably horizontally, at about or just below ground level in a forward direction simultaneously with an alternating side-to-side horizontal force to turn the tool and the cutting edge in a to-and-fro motion around the elongate object being cut. Forwardly inclined, center-symmetrically disposed saw teeth on the cutting edge will quickly cut the woody stem below ground so that no stubs are left sticking out of the ground to later trip the unwary. If the tool is fitted instead with a cutting blade provided with, for example, tungsten carbide-tipped teeth, or even a toothless edge coated with a layer of tungsten carbide grit, a patient user could apply the thus adapted tool to cleanly cut through much harder objects like steel bars or pipes, e.g., right where they are projecting from a wall or a concrete floor.

Abstract: An apparatus and method for cutting tape on a hockey stick blade is disclosed. The apparatus includes a body for holding the apparatus, a ski including a front edge and a bottom surface, and a cutting blade arranged generally upright relative to the bottom surface of the ski. The cutting blade may include a cutting edge disposed at an acute angle relative to the bottom surface of the ski, the cutting edge positioned proximate to the front edge of the ski.

Abstract: A reversal insert for a slicer for chopping up items such as fruit, vegetables, etc. has a base plate, of which one side is designed as a bearing surface. In a first reversal position of the insert the item can be guided longitudinally on the bearing surface onto a cutting edge of a blade of the slicer. The insert includes first fastening elements in order for the insert to be secured on a basic body of the slicer in the first reversal position, and second fastening elements in order for the insert to be secured on the basic body in a second reversal position. The second fastening means are arranged such that, in the second reversal position, the insert covers the cutting edge of the blade from above.

Abstract: Disclosed is a food peeler comprising a conical shaped handle having a longitudinal axis, a head containing a blade holder affixed to the top of the handle, the head having an axis transverse to the axis of the handle, the head comprising an elongated member with a recessed inner section, defining opposed vertically situated walls on opposite sides of the recessed inner section. The walls have flat inner surfaces, and vertically oriented projections extending from the surfaces thereof, and an orifice in the upper section of each wall, a blade mounted within a blade holder positioned within the recessed inner section, the blade comprising a flat elongated member having one exposed sharp edge, the blade holder further having a pin at each end thereof, each pin adapted to fit within one of the orifices of the walls to secure the blade holder in place.

Abstract: A plastic package opener having a body with a generally “V” shaped configured is formed from a memory retention material, by angled first and second legs held together by a portion of material. A sharp edge or blade member is held to an interior surface of one of the legs at an angle to the terminal ends of the legs. A movable blade cover may be provided for safety. A plastic package to be opened is inserted between the open ends of the legs and the blade member brought against the plastic package by squeezing the two legs together and directed across the surface of the plastic package to sever the plastic package and open the same for removal of an item or items held therein.

Abstract: A clipper with a cutting head and having an actuator. The heads contain a structural profile-specific channel into which structural material having the profile for which the head is designed is inserted and clipped. The head is designable for various structural profiles and, in one embodiment, multiple heads are interchangeably operated by a single actuator. In the interchangeable embodiment, a release button having two sections of differing diameters is disposed in the actuator and communicates with a connector slot of the head to permit attachment and detachment of the head from the actuator. The structure-specific clipper increases the quality of cuts and decreases the amount of deformation caused to the material. The clipper reduces buildup of waste material by ejecting cuttings from the head upon clipping.

The cutter includes a top, a bottom and a length defined therebetween and a cutting zone proximate the bottom. The cutter further includes an axial opening along the length of the cutter. The axial opening has an outlet proximate the bottom. The cutter also includes a plurality of radial openings proximate the bottom of the cutter, coinciding with the cutting zone and coupled in fluid communication with the outlet of the axial opening, wherein pressurized water is channeled through the axial opening into the plurality of radial openings to clean the cutting zone.
