  • Patent number: 10378466
Abstract: The control system of the internal combustion engine comprises a control part controlling an air-fuel ratio of the exhaust gas flowing into the exhaust purification catalyst. The control part alternately sets a target air-fuel ratio between a rich air-fuel ratio and a lean air-fuel ratio and controls the air-fuel ratio of the exhaust gas so that an output air-fuel ratio of the air-fuel ratio sensor becomes the target air-fuel ratio. The control part corrects the output air-fuel ratio of the air-fuel ratio sensor so that when a scavenging occurs, the air-fuel ratio of the exhaust gas changes to a rich side more than an amount of deviation expected to occur in the output air-fuel ratio due to the occurrence of the scavenging. The control part increases a lean degree of the target air-fuel ratio when the scavenging occurs compared with when the scavenging does not occur.

Abstract: Suggested is a procedure for heating a catalyst in the exhaust gas system of a supercharged combustion engine with direct fuel injection and variable gas exchange valve control by producing a reactive exhaust gas fuel/air mixture in the exhaust gas system, whereby an air percentage of the reactive fuel/air mixture is thereby produced that air is rinsed from a suction system of the combustion engine over its combustion chambers into the exhaust gas system. The invention distinguishes itself thereby that the combustion engine is operated in idle mode after a cold start with a greater valve overlap and/or a greater valve overlap profile than in a normal operation where the catalyst is already heated as well as with an apportionment of a fuel amount that has to be injected before a combustion into at least two partial injections per ignition and combustion chamber and with a suboptimal ignition angle efficiency.

  • Patent number: 7818885
Abstract: A scalpel for performing complex surgeries, such as c-sections, is formed of a body that is preferably elongated and shaped and sized to fit ergonomically into the hands of surgeons. The body has surfaces that are joined to each other by smooth transition elements to insure that the body has no points or sharp edges that could cut or scratch the surgeon or the patient. The body is formed with a triangular notch formed of a beak and an extension. A surgical blade, preferably a standard off-the-shelf surgical blade, is imbedded in the body and the only portion of the blade that is accessible is a portion of its cutting edge spanning the notch. The scalpel is used by introducing the beak into a slit in the tissue with the blade portion facing the direction in which the cut is to be made. The body of the scalpel is then grasped firmly and advanced to make the cut. The initial incision can be made with the tip of the beak.

Abstract: A retaining and cutting device for positioning a leading edge of material at one end of a roll and for puncturing and severing the material a pre-determined distance from the leading edge after removing from the roll, the retaining device comprising elongated jaw members pivotally connected together, a closure member normally urging the jaw members together, and a cutter along one edge of at least one of the jaw members. Extensions of the jaw members are manually grasped to urge the jaw members into an open position for insertion of the next leading edge of material therebetween. The device may also be utilized as a cutting tool for opening sealed boxes and the like.

  • Patent number: 7743512
Abstract: A cutter operative to pierce and cut a sheet of material includes a handle and a body portion coupled to the handle. The body portion includes two puncture fingers having tips for piercing the sheet of material and two blades for cutting two parallel cuts in the sheet of material. in a method of installing a zipper on a sheet of material, left and right portions of a zipper are applied to a sheet of material. A swath portion of the sheet of material is cut having two parallel, spaced-apart cuts between the left and right portions of the zipper. In this manner, zipper installation is established in a manner that avoids formation of flap of material that would otherwise remain between the left and right flanges of the zipper.

Abstract: A plastic package opener having a body with a generally “V” shaped configured is formed from a memory retention material, by angled first and second legs held together by a portion of material. A sharp edge or blade member is held to an interior surface of one of the legs at an angle to the terminal ends of the legs. A movable blade cover may be provided for safety. A plastic package to be opened is inserted between the open ends of the legs and the blade member brought against the plastic package by squeezing the two legs together and directed across the surface of the plastic package to sever the plastic package and open the same for removal of an item or items held therein.

Abstract: A food slicer having a blade is disclosed having a runway for supporting food prior to cutting by the blade and a landing for supporting the blade and the food after being cut. The runway and landing are adjustable for selecting a thickness of a food slice. The runway and landing are simultaneously adjusted, by a single mechanism, so that the blade and runway are maintained generally parallel with respect to each other. The adjusting mechanism includes a plurality of rotatable cam portions that engage with respective portions on the runway and landing so that each of the runway and landing may be oppositely pivoted around an end to maintain the parallel relationship. The food slicer also includes on-board storage for inserts, such as julienning or cubing inserts. The storage is located on a bottom of the runway, which is pivoted upward for storage.
