To Vary Angle Between Saw And Guide Plate Patents (Class 30/376)
  • Patent number: 4023273
Abstract: A guide assembly is provided with a pair of spaced and parallel guides and includes a carriage mounted on rollers between the guides for longitudinal movement therealong. The carriage can be clamped in position or limited in movement along the guides by means of a pair of slide guides which can be detachably clamped to the guide assembly. A sabre saw is detachably secured to the carriage and the guide assembly is clamped to the work-piece to be cut whereupon the sabre saw and the carriage is pushed along the guide assembly making a straight cut or a bevelled cut in the work-piece, depending upon the setting of the sabre saw assembly. A center pivot bearing assembly is also mounted upon the guide assembly and includes an adjustable work-piece engaging screw engaging the work-piece and acting as a center pivot so that the saw can be used for circle cutting by rotating the blade assembly 90.degree. from the straight ahead position. This circle cutting can also be at a bevelled angle if desired.

  • Patent number: 3977080
Abstract: A cutting guide for a power handsaw which cutting guide is of simple and inexpensive construction; is easily transported and used; and is particularly adapted to hold the material to be cut along the desired line of cut, whereby to prevent shivering upon cutting. This cutting guide includes an elongated support plate or strip, a guide ridge projecting from the top face of the support plate and forming a longitudinal guide for a power handsaw running lengthwise of the support plate. The opposite lateral edges of the support plate are arranged parallel and at predetermined and distinct spacings from the guide ridge.

  • Patent number: 3942251
Abstract: A portable, power-operated sabre saw having a power driven saw blade holder which is curved and which is mounted in the sabre saw housing for reciprocation along a curved path that is determined by its curvature to impart to a blade carried thereby a component of cutting stroke travel that is in the direction in which the blade is urged against a workpiece to cut the workpiece. Another feature disclosed herein is a counterweight which dynamically counterbalances the mass of the saw blade holder and the saw blade and which is recessed to receive a power driven gear that supplies the motion for reciprocating the holder and the counterweight. The counterweight is confined between and guided for reciprocating motion by opposed side wall regions of a longitudinally split housing, and a guide pin, which is trapped between the halves of the split housing, extends through a slot in one end of the counterweight to provide a further guide for the counterweight.

  • Patent number: 3938251
Abstract: A saber or jig saw is provided with a detachable hollow foot plate having a removable hollow transparent shield. The shield and plate collect saw dust and particles (produced during operation of the saw) for subsequent disposal. The plate can be adjusted to permit bevel cuts. The shield permits the user to closely observe the cutting action of the saw when in use and to guide the saw accordingly, thus minimizing the chances of eye injury which could otherwise result if the shield were not used.
