Patent number: 8336967Abstract: The present invention provides a method of tapering bristles for toothbrushes and a toothbrush having bristles manufactured using the method. One method disclosed in the present invention includes setting bristles made of polyester in a head insert, and fastening the bristles to the head insert by thermally welding portions of the bristles, protruding from a back surface of the head insert, to the head insert. The method further includes coupling the head insert to a toothbrush body and tapering ends of the bristles by immersing the bristles in a chemical. The bristles can be securely set in the toothbrush body without an anchor. Furthermore, polyester bristles, which could not be set in toothbrushes having variously shaped setting rows due to excessively high stiffness, can be set in these types of toothbrush by the toothbrush manufacturing method of the present invention.Type: GrantFiled: October 16, 2006Date of Patent: December 25, 2012Inventors: Young-Jun Kwon, Sung-Wook Kwon, Sung-Hwan Kwon

Publication number: 20120317737Abstract: A brush head, particularly a toothbrush head, may have a plurality of cleaning elements, in particular bristle tufts, which are anchored by an end section in a brush carrier, wherein the cleaning elements may be cast with positive engagement in blind-hole shaped retaining recesses. For producing such a brush head different cleaning elements may be placed successively or simultaneously in different mold cavities and may be over-molded using different plastic materials from which injection-molding sections of the bristle carrier are formed in the process. In doing so, a first cleaning element is over-molded in a first mold cavity using a first plastic material, while a second cleaning element is over-molded in a second mold cavity using a second plastic material.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 14, 2012Publication date: December 20, 2012Applicant: Braun GmbHInventors: Andreas Birk, Lars Foerster, Ulrich Pfeifer, Klaus Amsel, Gunther Alschweig

Publication number: 20120284944Abstract: The oral hygiene device, particularly a toothbrush, has in the neck part, a cavity, which is closed off from the surroundings and in which a snap dome is arranged. This snap dome produces an acoustic warning signal when a limiting bending of the neck part is exceeded as a result of a limiting pressing force with which the head part is pressed, for example, against the teeth and gums is exceeded. On the one hand, this has the effect of protecting the snap dome, usually produced from metal, from corrosion and, on the other hand, the cavity serves as a resonance chamber to amplify the warning signal.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 4, 2011Publication date: November 15, 2012Applicant: TRISA HOLDING AGInventors: Franz Fischer, Peter Gross, Beat Huber

Publication number: 20120284945Abstract: In the production of toothbrushes, the neck part and the head part are bent relative to each other from the original shape thereof by a predetermined angle (?) in the hot state of the toothbrush body. Thereafter, the force applied to the toothbrush body by the stretching device in order to bend the toothbrush body is removed so that the toothbrush body can bend back into the original shape thereof. The risk of fractures, in particular brittle fractures, can be greatly reduced by said action. The method is advantageous, in particular, if the toothbrush body was heated during processing by ultrasonic welding.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 20, 2010Publication date: November 15, 2012Applicant: TRISA HOLDING AGInventors: Jost Lotscher, Oskar Trevisan

Publication number: 20120056466Abstract: There is a need to reduce raw materials used in the manufacturing of wet mops, to reduce the weight of the wet mop which will decrease user fatigue and related injuries and to address the difficulty of attaching standard wet mops to commonly used mop handles. The improvement is a tubular headband wet mop with yarn strands on only one side of the headband, reducing the amount of unused yarn incorporated into the wet mop while not reducing floor surface coverage area. The tubular headband also eliminates the possibility of exposing the bottom side of the mop handle which can damage or mar the floor surface, coatings and finishes. This reduction in raw materials results in a lighter product, which reduces effort required to lift and wring out the wet mop, and reduces fatigue and injuries associated with mopping.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 30, 2011Publication date: March 8, 2012Inventors: Todd Allen Williams, Cynthia Kay Williams

Publication number: 20120013169Abstract: In a method for producing bristle areas for brushes, in particular toothbrushes, bundles of bristles (5) are divided off from a bristle supply (101), transported by a gas or air stream (Pf 1) and introduced into perforations (22) in a central plate (21). The bundles of bristles (5) are removed from the central plate (21) and transferred to a compactor plate (106) and, in the process, the density of the bundle of bristles (5) is increased.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 5, 2010Publication date: January 19, 2012Applicant: ZAHORANSKY AGInventor: Bernhard Rees

Publication number: 20110314624Abstract: An interdental brush of the present invention includes bristles (11), a wire (12) twisted with the bristles (11), and a handle (20) attached to the wire (12). The handle (20) includes a main body (21). The main body (21) is formed with a longitudinal hole (41) through which a base part of the wire (12) extends, a space section (42) connecting to the longitudinal hole (41), and extending through the main body (21) in a lateral direction, and a tubular wire detachment preventing portion (50) extending from a peripheral portion of an opening of the longitudinal hole (41) at an inner wall surface of the space section (42) into the space section (42). The wire detachment preventing portion (50) is curved together with the wire (12) with a tip portion of the base part of the wire (12) being inserted therein.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 5, 2009Publication date: December 29, 2011Applicant: KABUSHIKI KAISHA UFC SUPPLYInventor: Yosuke Kubo

Publication number: 20110304194Abstract: A brush body of a toothbrush includes bristle bundles, each formed by a plurality of filaments. Each filament includes a core, which contains a conductive material, and an insulative sheath, which covers a side of the core. Each bristle bundle includes a basal portion at which basal ends of the cores are fused, solidified, and integrated with one another. The bristle bundle also includes a distal portion, which is formed by a distal end of each core. A ratio of the conductive material at the basal portion is equal to a ratio of the conductive material at the distal portion.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 2, 2011Publication date: December 15, 2011Applicant: Panasonic Electric Works Co., Ltd.Inventors: Satoshi Uchida, Masayoshi Nagayama
